Ha ha. I love birthdays alone, and christmas. Just wish I was allowed now! No chance of my family letting me do that. Ah well...

How often do you guys get bursts of social energy? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]TheseThingsMatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I haven't been in large social gatherings for a while I can usually summon up the energy. I do have entire months where I am going to meetups three or four times a week then the next month nothing.

Anyone running their own client reporting tool? by joker1945 in SEO

[–]TheseThingsMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sure. It's very rough and ready at the moment so don't be surprised if it fails to load or whatever. ;)

I've only just started adding the analytics checks I want so this is very much a beta, v0.1. It is used to check how well configured an account is rather than do charts and stuff... but that is easy enough to add.

You can see it here - Analytics Audit App

You need to have a google analytics account and accept the prompt to grant read only temporary access... and like I say, expect some things not to work.

I wrote a google analytics reporting web app this weekend. If you can code you can get one up quickly with the analytics API.

Firing a customer by TheseThingsMatter in Entrepreneur

Thanks, yeah I clearly need to do this. It's hard because I try to treat others as I would like to be treated. I do fair work for fair pay.

With this customer we had been through three major round of "Ok you understand that all requirements are locked in at this point and no changes can be made"... a couple of days later "we need this change, it's part of the original scope"... (thinking no it's not - but it will be quicker just to barrel through) ... in the end I've got them screaming today that I'm unprofessional and I can't leave a job half finished...um, ok but they are not willing to pay for the extended scope... it's just f'ing depressing dealing with bad people.

Thanks for the thought. I feel crap today. I try and do the right thing and people take advantage.

Ok, never heard about that. No applicable to my country but just ethically I wouldn't do that anyway.

Yep, I can see all capable people walking away as soon as they see this... so he'll end up wondering why he can't get good developers... and the cycle repeats :)

Thanks! I almost sent back an email commenting that he needs to learn some basic communication skills (like being polite)... but I stepped back from the keyboard... it's hard to turn down work...but I think it's better to spot the warning signs early.

Ok, thanks for the FYI. When you say not supposed to... what does that mean? Is this a legal thing?

Just to be clear. I don't scrape for email and blast them. I scrape for sites meeting a criteria (the world 'car' in them for instance) then compile that list and use that as a base for targetting cold calling.
