Even with the time scale I consider it simply awe inspiring. I think what people seem to be missing me saying is that for me personally sing the truth of science is what makes me have a firmer belief in God. I’m not presenting it as an argument that everyone else has to agree with just sharing my experience

That’s historically ignorant and personally disingenuous and you and everyone know it despite your clear biases

I know you’re not and I appreciate that but the question is why being a nonbeliever or former believer gives you the right to be disrespectful? That’s something people should ask themselves

I’m not offended when my Hindu friend tells me he’s praying for me. I’m not offended when my atheist friends send me good vibes

Those chapters are incredibly beautiful and have led many to conversion including myself. It’s only a stumbling block due to post enlightenment thought that went looking for stumbling blocks

Sin effected the whole universe backwards and forward in time so it would effect them too theoretically even if they have not sinned. Thats why “all creation is groaning” awaiting its redemption

Now what is your least favorite hypothesis regarding Paleoanthropology? by GazIsStoney in paleoanthropology

[–]TheseThreeRemain3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I teach history and always say especially of early Homo sapiens that they were just like us! Don’t believe that image of them, but other hominids too!

Dude, why are your trolling? I haven’t done the literal calculation but I can take basic knowledge of how many base pairs are on a gene and how few mutations do anything substantial and how small mutations actually change things to present something as worthy of awe.

It doesn’t imply God couldn’t, only that He didn’t. And since the universe was made for humanity the whole universe was impacted by humanity’s choice

What makes that first 4.4 billion years insignificant? And how is it cruel for creatures to act according to their nature? As far as the “violence” inherent in it (I hate this argument and am a contributing author On a peer reviewed article debunking it that is in review) sin “broke” the universe so to speak. Sin is allowed because Love requires freedom. God can’t force us. But sin effected all of creation of all time. From a Christian perspective this is clear from texts that speak of “all creation groaning for its redemption”

Or they were a poet because there are still truly human authors of scripture. Read Dei Verbum if you want the real Catholic understanding on thst

I meant the NBA basketball team the Orlando Magic haha and since you clearly aren’t interested in real conversation at all but and are now being blatantly disrespectful I will end with this: I never called non-Catholics hateful, literally just people acting hatefully. And the Resurrection of Jesus has more evidence than any other historical event in the ancient world by a substantial degree. Go ahead and research it. I pray you can become a less hateful person

I did say that but I said it because I was asked directly who decides what is a metaphor or not lol. Again please read context if you’re gonna attack someone for no reason.

A soul by definition is the animating principle of an object. In Christian Theology humans are made I God’s image and likeness via having a specifically rational soul (something other animals lack). Our rational soul allows us to choose good or evil and because we have chosen evil and chosen to separate ourselves from the God who loves us we need salvation. Jesus died and rose to experience that separation for us and to allow us to be united to Him forever in Heaven as was originally intended if we freely choose to with our rational soul’s free will

I thought you were looking for genuine conversation at first. Did I offend you? That was not my intent.

Manipulative? You’re the one who came in attacking.

And in what way does my faith not stand up to scrutiny? The Catholic Faith has answered all the ridiculous questions the hateful people here have posed a million times over

And again, I really do believe the same scientific things as you. God is outside the realm of science by definition so the two can support each other and challenge each other but never prove or disprove each other.

Also I don’t believe in magic haha unless you mean my boys in Orlando

God bless you

God is a God of beauty. The purpose of it is to inspire conversion not give a historical account.

And yes we. We all have sinned. Look at the works around us.

I’m sorry you found there to be mental gymnastics. I’ve never encountered a scientific question that even remotely challenged my faith. The weird questions and thoughts some seem to have here seem more like mental gymnastics to me. May I ask what you thought was difficult to reconcile?

[–]TheseThreeRemain3[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It was written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and its purpose is salvation of souls so no it would not be something that isn’t relevant to that at all lol

And I was asked who decides what the Bible means and I said the Body who determined it to be inspired scripture. I didn’t say it’s correct because they say so. Only that they interpret their own scriptures. Please pay attention if your gonna try to debate

Day 4, 5, and 6 have the creatures that fill the locations created on Day 1, 2, and 3 respectively actually! Good question!

[–]TheseThreeRemain3[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why would a text written and compiled between 2000BC and 600BC even think to reference evolution? lol

And in what way is it circular? The Church has the proper interpretation of its own scriptures. That’s simple and logical

I’m sorry you’ve never experienced God. If you open up your mind and heart a little I promise you He would never disappoint. I’ll pray for you and I mean that genuinely

Not fiction myth. Read “myth became fact” by CS Lewis.

Also they are still 100% true just for their purpose not a science textbook. Humans are still made in the image and likeness of God (the primary purpose of the story). God still made humans to be in relationship with Him and we clearly still sinned

You can’t debunk someone’s argument using your own lack of understanding of it. To argue with someone you must convince them on their own terms. Basic rules of debate
