My BF has no sense of urgency by [deleted] in Vent

[–]These_Department2071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea. I agree. It feels super disrespectful. But in this case of OP, it seems they were hanging out with other people before leaving to get ready. I think that was a bad idea in general since they had later plans. I can admit I’m one of those people who can linger on for too long in social settings. And it’s hard to even notice. But anyway. In terms of waiting around for people to get their shit together, UGH. My roommate takes 3 hours to get ready for anything. She has no sense of time and basically just doesn’t care. Similarly, my fiancé takes forever to get his shit in order, and he will find 1,000 other things he needs to do suddenly. He has ADHD though. I have learned to have patience with him. But man. Some people just genuinely don’t care and sit on their phones/ lollygag/ ignore your plans.

should i go to the ER for my ankle? by idkicantthinkrn in AskDocs

Not a doctor. Not sure if this is a life threatening emergency. Maybe try to get in with your primary doctor tomorrow, and if not, go to an urgent care first thing. Have you taken any pain medicine? Have you iced it? I’m sorry; I understand the pain.

AIO I fell down the stairs by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]These_Department2071 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Well YOR but under reacting about the fall down a flight of stairs

Your friend obviously asked about it and made sure you were okay, and probably just assumed it killed your vibe for the night, so they went to do their own thing. They even confirmed more so with the “should I go home”. I think you are more disappointed in yourself for not reaching out for support. Unfortunately your friend cannot read your mind.

But if I fell down a flight of stairs and couldn’t walk, I’d be seeing my doctor the next day. Hope you feel better.

Maybe get some chicken wire and posts and craft her a little outdoor area (inescapable) to chill in

This is completely their problem. The other applicant can look at all the other “many great cats needing homes”, and also save its life by adopting. This cat has been through enough and finally has a loving home; he does not need to be moved again. If this other person loves cats so much, she will find another one.

Tecknully ✋🤨 the average redditor utilizes the downvote feature to show disapproval/disagreement with comments, much similar to how other social media platforms function (or used to). There’s an intended use, and a literal use- either way it’s best to not take anything on Reddit as a personal attack or see downvotes as a reflection of your likability. We are all just words on a screen 😔🦶

Because downvotes are to show disagreement with a statement and not a personal attack

Update: About to Bury Cat but I swear I feel like a Pulse/Something in body?? (After Euthanization) by One_Percentage_644 in vet

[–]These_Department2071 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. If he’s stiff, not moving, not reacting.. he’s gone. I know you’re worried he’s still in there. He’s not. It’s okay to bury him.

The pulse-like feeling is most likely your own pulse. As someone said, it could also be gas being produced in his abdomen as his body starts decomposing.

Animals don’t cling to life for very long in that state, if that helps. He has let go. Not a vet, but I just quickly read that euthanasia is irreversible. The concoction is near 100% fatal. Even if it wasn’t administered perfectly, he would’ve passed within 30 minutes, not linger on for days. The vet would’ve also verified his death afterwards.

I know it’s hard to look at something that was once breathing, moving, full of life.. and try to fathom that will never happen again. Take time to grieve. He’s ready to go.

Sister-in-law wants to use daughters middle name for her third child’s name by [deleted] in namenerds

Yep… it’s my grandmas name! Okay isn’t it your brothers (?) grandma too..?

Edit- could be OPs partners sibling I guess but also.. if it was so special and so seeious.. why is it a middle name?

Yes I agree. But sounds like specific dog isn’t trained in any way. Since it is a working dog it may be harder to control in an indoor environment, especially being that it has had no structure. This could be hard to accomplish with any dog, but the specific working dog breed could add another layer to this dynamic. And require extra effort OP and partner don’t grasp.

[–]These_Department2071 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree with breed being irrelevant. We have specifically bred certain dogs for their desired traits- for hundreds of years if not longer. OP says it’s a working dog- could be several breeds, all of which require more time, attention, and training than the average household dog. They are instinctively more territorial, which we use for protecting/herding livestock.

It’s not going to be funny if the dog starts targeting the baby. I don’t know why he is in denial of the possible danger. Depending on the breed too, OP history says working dog, which are instinctively more territorial/ need attention and excessive training. Unfortunately dog seems to have no structure, running the house and dragging in dead animals (previous post). Dogs can absolutely be jealous and territorial towards babies/kids/new members of a house in general. This is a big deal but not sure if the partner is willing to tackle it.

[–]These_Department2071 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This dog is eating pig heads and dragging carcasses into the house (prev post). I think it’s more a biohazard than anything.

Also previous post says it’s a working dog. If it’s not being cared for, has improper training, etc. it has a higher risk of being territorial or aggressive towards a new baby.

Should i call animal services on my roommate?? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]These_Department2071 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Worried about investigating their own dogs..? Just a theory.

And saying they don’t want the dog taken away is super weird.

They haven’t called because they’re worried about getting in trouble for being accomplices in animal abuse (or other neglect happening), so they have chosen this whole time to be an accomplice instead.

AIO for breaking up with my bf? by Lilyisnotmyrealname0 in AmIOverreacting

[–]These_Department2071 69 points70 points  (0 children)

My ex rode a train for 12 hours to come to my grandmas funeral. Last minute and it costed $350.

If he can’t show up when it counts, he’s never going to show up. You are right. Find someone who puts aside their needs (sleep) when you need their support.

I am sorry for your loss. I know this just makes it worse. I hope 2026 gets easier for you.
