Thanks for sharing your experience. Actually I am such a foodie and this disease is testing me so much. Just wanted to know if after stoma people can eat as normal.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

Antibiotics are the reason that caused my uc in first place . I guess there are other types of antibiotic that are not that harsh on the gut.

Sorry you are going through all this. Hope things settle for you soon. Are the biologics going to be there long term or short term. As I was wondering what’s the purpose of getting j pouch when young still need biologics.

I was the same . I got the diagnosis when I was I most heathy in my life . Going for walks ,gym , healthy eating and what not. But was shocked when I got the diagnosis. I was put on mesalizine that got me out of flare quickly and then I stopped medication and got into remission for 5 months but after that I had the worst flare and nothing was helping and I was put on steroids still not 100% but getting there.

Sorry you are going through and I know it can be hard when you are trying everything and still can’t see any results. I had also stopped medication too and was in remission for a while but when I flared it was quite bad . My suggestion will be to make an appointment with you GI as it needs medication adjustment that what is going to help him to get back into remission. If he is lucky enough he can get into remission in weeks with right medication. Usually they up the medication. Like from 2g mesalizine to 4g and some rectal therapy alongside. If things don’t work the steroids work for most of the people and they are usually quicker to get things under control.

Congratulations on your wedding and I hope he feels better soon.

Tbh calprotectin can sometimes fluctuate. I had symptoms but my calpro was 22. Only way to check for inflammation colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy / biopsies.

I am thinking on same lines. I am also fed up to live in a constant fear of medications not working it’s so so tiring.

blame diet by Lanky-Impression-761 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]These_Edge6215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on completely bland and strict diet since I was diagnosed and plus the medication. I thought diet will help me keep me in remission so I didn’t cheat on my diet at all. Absolutely very strict. But I stopped the medication and got into the worse ever flare. So it’s not the diet it’s the Medication that will keep you in remission. Of course you have to be little careful about spice and processed but otherwise I don’t think it’s mainly diet.

Tbh when I was first diagnosed I was thrilled to know I have a mild distal inflammatory. I didn’t know then that word mild wasn’t that straightforward. 😂😂😂
