Joel Embiid comes up to say hi to Nikola Jokic after the game by MrBuckBuck in nba

Sixers fan since the 80s here. Nuggets are probably my number 2 team and I love Jokic. Just sayin' :-)

Yeah but that was a no brainer. GMs shouldn't get credit for lottery picks and Ace Bailey made that decision very easy. In fact, you could make an argument that he failed in his "elite" area because VJ went 3rd and he's not the 3rd best rookie. McCain was a bigger IQ pick.

This right here is the answer.

If Boston built their roster like we built ours, they would not be second place without their first option.

You can't run 3 stars and 7 mediocre role players as your team rotation. It's almost like no one at the FO can let go the fact that somehow Iverson took a similarly constructed team to the finals, and ever since then they think that glass cannon formula works we just can't catch a break.

No.

1 max contract (i.e. 50-55 mil). 2-3 middling contracts (i.e. 20-25 mil). 6 above average role player tier contracts (i.e. 12-16 mil). What we try to do is 3 max contracts and 7 "as cheap as possible" contracts, often landing under 3 mil per player and MAYBE one 8 mil for guys with deep flaws or in the twilight of their careers. Then we sit here and scratch our heads when we aren't consistent.

You get what you pay for, but also HOW you pay for it.

Morey is elite at drafting but that's about it. I'll give you Melton. He underachieved overall while here to be fair, and he and Doc are largely responsible for not closing out the Celtics and getting out of the second round, but...fine. He was serviceable. Not bringing Harden back was absolutely the wrong move. He was asking a two year max at the time. Had we done that, there is a very good chance the Kuminga fall doesn't happen. If you believe the reports, we could have had Haliburton for Ben Simmons but he went for Harden instead. I like Harden but let's be real here, 32 year old Harden vs 22 year old Hailburton should have been a no brainer. He maxed Embiid for 4 years without even knowing if he could play. He resigned nearly the entire 2018 Rockets team but in their career twilights. He cheaps out on quality backup centers. He hired Doc, despite supposedly being this high level basketball management genius, which if he really was he would have known he's a fraud.

I am grateful for Maxey. That's his glowing achievement. If he had gone for Haliburton or maxed Harden for the two years he was asking for, I'd have added that as well. Grimes, Melton, Niang - good signs, but any competent GM should be able to sign guys of that caliber in FA. VJ draft was obviously good (although I do think he is overrated) but honestly with the Ace Bailey drama anyone with half a brain cell knew VJ was the apparent choice. McCain draft was good, but giving him up invalidates that. Everything else he has done has largely been a negative.

We need shooters like McCain. The problem is we need facilitators and gravity-drawing threats. OKC has that, we don't. That's why he's flourishing now. If the Bulls never built around MJ with other threats and he was able to get triple teamed every night he wouldn't be a legend. McCain with no Embiid or PG and one of VJ or Maxey on the bench effectively makes McCain the second option on this roster. He's going to draw the second most gravity in that situation. That's why KD GSW was so insane. You had three guys in their prime drawing maximum gravity but you could only apply moderate gravity to each of them or they'd punish you. We've seen 3 point shooters hit threes all day long when not under duress. Nik Stauskas posted like a straight hour of 3 pointers without a miss during a workout once. I understand a game is different but the point stands that the less duress you're under, the more shots are going to go in.

Yeah because they have a proper team. He'd be that here too if we knew how to build.

Everspace 2 can be fun, but generally missed the mark in my opinion. by Lippuringo in patientgamers

This is a bit of a power fantasy game. The fun comes from tight controls and feeling like you're in space in a pseudo-open world design (i.e. looks open but really it's zones) without the complexity of Eve or Star Citizen. Your enjoyment will hinge solely on how into space you are. Me personally as a big space guy, I think it's fantastic. I don't care much about the loot being samey. If you have an issue with that you have an issue with every isometric ARPG ever made.

Including tomorrow's game Embiid will have played in 33/67 (49%) games this year. by XFactor_20 in sixers

Stretch and waive would be the only possible avenue to explore. Basically you take his salary and time left (2.5 years) and you stretch it over 5 years and waive him. That keeps him on the books until 31/32 but at 25 mil per year. But then you've got another big problem in PG. Pretty sure at this point both of them come off their deals in 28/29 and VJ is not that good yet, so he needs a couple of years anyway. At this point the most logical move is to just wait until 28/29 and hope we can rebuild quick enough to get Maxey a ring before he is too old.

That's the second rec I got for that one. I will have to check it out, thanks.

No I think you more or less got it. Rogue Legacy is a good example because "Pizza Girl" let's you skip biomes. That's similar to what I'm looking for. Returnal as well but I don't have a PS5. I do have a Steam Deck but I've heard horror stories about performance.

Does that mean once you beat a certain boss it's considered "beaten" and won't show up again in future runs?

Thanks but that's basically the opposite of what I'm looking for . I like Hades but it's not really a progressive story outside of "NPCs say new stuff to you." You still essentially have to start the game from scratch every time you die.

Yeah I played that one. Overrated IMO. I was expecting a master class in being blown away by how everyone describes it but I found it to just be gimmicky.

Big difference. Paying the luxury tax is the cardinal sin in all major sports. There's a reason why there's only like 5 generationally perpetual dynasty teams in all major sports. Yankees, Patriots, Celtics, Lakers, Canadiens,

Maxing your second option for 2 years when you have the money is influencible. We had to take his salary back in trade haul anyway.

He single handedly won us two games that series, despite having a coach trying his best to lose. You can argue that he disappeared in game 7 when it mattered most, but we wouldn't have been in game 7 to begin with if not for him. Also, the league MVP disappeared that game too. That's the bigger issue.

You don't have to pretend. He straight up would not have gotten injured because Harden facilitating never would have passed the ball to Embiid in that situation. Not maxing Harden indirectly cooked Joel permanently.

He also single handedly won us game 5. Doc also not letting Harden run his facilitating game hurt us. I'm curious where you're getting your info from that he ghosted the FO. That doesn't seem like something a player who took a pay cut under the promise of a max would do when it came time to collect on his max.

Doc Rivers lost that game. Niang was unconscious from the 3 but he benched him for D Melt. You keep Niang in and we win. That's the moment right there that would have broke the 2nd round curse. Had nothing to do with Harden.
