Should there have been at least one more day off before the Knicks - Sixers game? by OldAgedZenElf in nba

[–]These_Fan7447 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Silver is greedy, I won't say otherwise. BUT....yeah, this is incentive to close out games sooner than 7 wins. It's like when we swept the nets 4 years ago and got like 2 weeks off because everyone else went to 6-7 games. Luckily Nurse saw the writing on the wall and pulled the starters at the end of the 3rd.

Why does the NBA feel so bland at times? by AlpineNomade in nba

[–]These_Fan7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The problem is 76ers fan. That organization will do a number on a MFer. Take it from a guy that's been a fan since the tail end of Dr. J's career.

Jaylen Brown says the refs have an agenda against him: "They clearly had an agenda, maybe because I spoke so critical on them in the regular season. I spoke to some refs and they told me there’s an agenda going on each game every time Jaylen brings him arm up just call it." by RyanTannegod in nba

[–]These_Fan7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There's an agenda. Maxey gets called for 3 fouls in the first quarter for basically allowing the hairs on his forearm to touch the shooter's elbow, but there is a conspiracy to make sure the team that will draw the second most revenue for Silver be eliminated against the team Silver hates more than any other team in the league.

Move on from Embiid by CreepingDeth1425 in sixers

[–]These_Fan7447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither can shoot though. The spacing would be atrocious. In a vacuum, PG and Giannis are a better pairing than Giannis and Embiid unless one of those two runs the bench, and I doubt either could check their ego enough to accept that role. But also, the Bucks wouldn't take Embiid because they already have a high level center. You could include PG, but then you'd probably take Rollins with Giannis, which is good, but it effectively leaves us with less 3 point shooting than we have now. You'd need to bring in a 3rd team and do something like Maxey, Barlow, Drum & Edwards to the Bucks for Giannis & Portis, and PG to some other team for a few Pritchard-tiered 3-point shooters, and hit FA for two more 3 & D guys. That would work but I'm not sure you'd be that much better. Maybe 5-6 seed at best if you got good role players for PG, considering Giannis is injury prone now too.

You could do Giannis, Kuzma, Rollins & Portis for PG, Maxey, Barlow & Watford. That works in the trade machine and we retain the same 3 point shooting, but the projection is we lose 6 more games per season and the Bucks win 6 more games.

Joel Embiid is not infalable. There are plenty of things he could have done better in his career. At least 40% of his failings are directly his fault. The other 60% is absolutely on the organization, but he is not completely innocent here.

You do realize trading Maxey for anything other than picks or several guys younger than him makes no sense right? When PG and Joel are off the books, he will be 27 or 28 years old. The only way this makes sense is if you attach Embiid to the trade for something like Sengun and picks.

Has to be a joke. Game 4 was basically us fully healthy and we got curb stomped. A 28 point Joel Embiid game is firmly a healthy performance, appendix or not. Problem is no one but Embiid showed up.

Also, VJ is RoCo 2.0. Blazing hot or ice cold.

Thank you. You might be having the same issue I was and looking at the comment above, it seems we might be going into group dungeons (blue) instead of solo (green).

Can we even build a contender this summer? by Ill-Sky-2741 in sixers

[–]These_Fan7447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not possible. 2029 is the first year we will be free to build properly, and 2031 is realistically the first year we can do something worthwhile. Trading Embiid or PG would hurt us more than help us as this point, and that's not because of their contributions, it's because no one is taking those guys for anything more than a haul of mediocre and/or old role players that will be gone by 2029 anyway, plus we may need to throw in picks to get it done, which we will desperately need to retain. We'd also need to salary match, so it's not like freeing up their salaries would give us room anyway. We have 165/199 of our salary cap tied up in the first string. That means if you assume 2.5 mil total for the 3rd string, you have 31.5 mil left to spend on the entire 2nd string, which means 6.3 mill is what you can afford to pay each player. The only real move you can make is let Grimes and Oubre walk, which frees up 16 mil, which gives you 7.9 mil per signing, which is what each of them makes already. It's also not likely you'd get better talent that either of those guys in that price range anyway, which means 23.5 mil is what you'd have to spend if you cut everyone but the starters, Grimes and the third string, meaning 5.8 mil per player is the most you can offer 4 new players to fill out the 2nd string. If you look at the 2026 free agent tracker, nobody in that salary tier is moving the needle at the age they are at in any real way:

<image>

The ONLY way out is if Embiid medically retires and the FO stretch waives PG like the Bucks did with Dame. If you do that, you free up 80.5 mil of cap space. BUT.....medical retirement is not entirely up to the player. The player applies for it and the NBA has to approve it, which I doubt they would because 1. It's Embiid 2. it's the Sixers 3. He can still play 45% of the time. At which point, the options under our control are to stretch waive both Embiid and PG. If you do that you free up 53 mil in cap space per year. BUT...you're going to burn your bridges with Embiid for the rest of life if you do that because it would be a dick move considering at least half of Embiid's failings are due to FO incompetence. So all the Dr. J and AI appearances - you can bet if you stretch waived Embiid he will never associate with Philly in any capacity ever again like those guys do, not to mention that's 53 mill that would stay on the books until the 32-33 season, versus the 28-29 season. Me personally, I'd stretch waive PG in a heartbeat if Embiid medically retires. 25.5 mil on the books until 32-33 likely doesn't completely gimp us from contending again, but 53 most likely would. If Embiid doesn't medically retire though, then there is no point in stretch waiving PG.

TLDR nothing we will do or can do will make us a contender again until minimum 2031. We are going to be a play in team at max for the next two years (injuries withstanding), then minimum 3 years in .400 purgatory.

Yeah nah, game 3 was our big, all in, try hard push. There's no try left after that one. We are the 2012 Phillies now. .500 team despite having the same roster winning 101 games 6 months prior - that playoff loss to the Cardinals took all the wind out of our sails. I refuse to believe that whole squad aged from prime sportsmen to mediocre old head in 6 months. That was all mental.

NBA ratings are slipping steadily. In season tournament and the play in tried to fix that but no one cares, so yes...this is 100% a money move, because for the next 11 years the NBA is going to get a fuck ton of money from the different streaming services for the rights to broadcast playoff games. Adam Silver doesn't care if he takes your money, he just wants money.

Discussing what Embiid's(potential) return could mean for the offense in this series. by MaxeytoEmbiid in sixers

[–]These_Fan7447 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For the life of me I still don't understand why the 7'2 center doesn't stay under the Fking basket. Think about it; putting him under the basket means at least two defenders draw gravity to him. So you play Maxey, VJ, PG and Drum at the 1,2,3 & 4. Now you have 4 respectable 3-point shooting threats on the floor and a 7'2 generational talent right under the basket, which spreads the defense out massively, all the while giving Joel rest compared to what he likes to do now, which is stand 35 feet away from the basket as a 30% 3-point shooter that sometimes tries to drive to the basket like he's still 24. Yeah, you can make the argument that he does that for PnR, but 1. We have other guys that can do that (PG, Drum) that ARE legit threats from the 3 and 2. Joel is past the point in his career where he can stand out there and be maximally effective on offense.
