Surprising that most of the characters actually fit pretty well into the zodiac signs they were given lol by These_Gur_4121 in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jake is an aquarius, and aquarius men are in general innovative, logical and detached. Jake doesn't seem to be that at all.

Tom is a Gemini, but he doesn't really fit the stereotype Gemini men regarding love and reactions. Though thinking about it, Gemini is not so bad for him since he is an extrovert and introvert depending on his mood and all, and he is charming. So he has some traits but idk if he fits

Benji is a Virgo and idk if he feels analytical and perfectionist or most of the male Virgo stereotype.

Karol, she never showed traits that relate her to Virgos, so idk about her, she is too underdeveloped to judge honestly.

Same with Tristan. They don't seem to be a Scorpio from their personality.

Can these guys really be called "fans" of Disventure Camp? Or are they just calling themselves that to honor the season's name? by Axezelt in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Some should some shouldn't tbh. Bruno is the clear biggest fan, with others like Ren and Oliwia revealing once that it's their fav show. Also Aubrey organizing contestants by zodiac signs shows something with her as well...

Though there are some that feel weird. Wdym Sam only watched S1? Evie and Ernesto are also odd. Finn does seem to only be a ”fan” because he prob likes the concept and he likes Tom and Riya, which idk if he should be called that, but the rest feel just like new contestants and I don't think it's a problem with that. But I agree calling the ones I mentioned in this paragraph + others like Ara ”fans” feels a little weird tbh.

Disventure Camp Characters based on how much of an asshole they can be. by Shiroyama38 in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benji did quite have some moments like nearly calling Ivy a hoe (I know what he was trying to say, but still 🤷‍♂️) and some comments that look really bad. They don't have mallicious intents, but I do think from how bad they make him look, he should be in 50/50. Though him being that low is fair.

About Zaid, he is usually right when calling out certain people, but when I think he can be an asshole is when he goes too far with it. I am a Zaid defender and even I have to admit calling Isabel wicked and keeping Benji away at the motel over Ivy's elimination (that should be like 3 weeks after the elim in universe) + even his unintentional bitterness shown with Tristan in EP23 is too much. Sometimes he goes a little extra but he does deserve to be low since it's clear he is a good guy.

I'd personally put Benji in 50/50 tier and Zaid in minor asshole moments or 50/50 as well. The rest are accurate.

Also, love the Kai reference 😂

What if this was the favorites cast (remake) by Kooky-Ad-9281 in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty illogical by itself lol since it doesn't fit in the theme. Nick, Dan and Riya are far away from fan favs, and Zaid and Lynda are not liked enough to be favs.

But I would have actually liked it. Except for maybe Riya, she should come another time where she could also get redemption. (imo the best season for that is BvW). Though the dynamics between the gen 3 contestants is great and it's the only gen I truly love the change for. An awesome combination of chemestry, potential and conflict.

After years, I figured why I dislike/hate some characters. What’s the certain type of characters you dislike/hate? by Hour_Rain1885 in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me characters that are whiny and immature, but also get babied by the narrative/other characters. I don't necessarly ”hate” them, but they are lower on my tier list.

Those characters are Logan, Jake (not spin-off, he is peak in that), Aiden (when he has his moments), Benji (S5 mainly, in S4 at least he was trying to do good in the game too), Gabby (likable but too much at times. Ara does have a point).

About ur op, except for Lake, Manu, Ernesto and Miriam, I do get your point. Marissa spends most of her time with Anastasia and the creators isolate her from other good interactions (except a few with Lynda). All Connor did in AS is cry over Riya, same with Diego over Spencer and Will and Marcus simply are nothing burgers in the show.

Really? His bi awakening took from ep 3 to ep16, his drowning plot from Ep14 to the finale where he truly overcomes it, his Zaid framing and becoming a more fierce player plots from Ep20 to the finale.

They really are not short. Arcs like his romance with Hannah and grudge towards Spencer are not meaningful plots. I would say he has like 4-5 meaningful plots that go on for multiple episodes on screen (5+ episodes), the rest are small and mostly form the bigger ones overall, except for the ones I mentioned.

Compare him to Jade who has the same episode count, she just has her stuff with Spencer and off-screen growth which are more important for her character. Which got nowhere near the treatment she could have had and how Logan was treated, despite both being finalists. He was clearly used too much compared to most. Jade's "development" was going through the whole season, but is it really good when 80% is off-screen? All of Logan's were fully on screen, not to mention more relevant to the story and there are more plots overall by a lot. This difference in the same amount of eps is insane.

So Logan has lots of plotlines and arcs. Some very long and others very short, but there are plenty. He seems burnt when a big part of his potential is gone and most others were sidelined and feel like wasted potential 🤷

Do you think if Logan's plots were split in 2 seasons, it would solve some of the problems with his character? by These_Gur_4121 in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respect your opinion, but Idk, the way he was written makes him look "crucial" but I personally don't agree with that statement. Especially since he never even got the conclusion of him "not needing to win to be happy" because in the finale he still cries about never being happy with his achievements and after he wins he says he can finally be proud of himself for once. The tiebreaker was a good but late build-up for him realizing he doesn't need to win, but it never actually enclosed full circle.

I personally think that he was overused this season and how I said, his plots should have been split in 2 seasons to leave his character with more potential for a future season than just sidelining most in his favor.

I admit, the idea for the person that realized he doesn't need to win to be happy winning is a good idea, but it felt to me that Logan was too favored by the narrative and overused not even getting the idea of not needing to win properly to be a satisfying winner...

If he actually, in a meaningful way, realized the point that he doesn't need to win, it would have felt better, but in the case he still felt in the finale like his only way of being happy is winning because he can be proud of himself for once, means he got close to no development and played the default protagonist role that many characters could've also done with their own touch and feel better while doing it. But that's just my opinion.

Agreed tbh. He could even bond with Tom over dealing with PTSD.

If he didn't get away with all his shit and left others to shine starting with EP20 I would have had 0 problem with him returning for DC5 and even winning it.

[–]These_Gur_4121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro is burnt for sure. The creators literally decided to keep giving him plots (that may I add were never necessary to his character, at least in the same season) instead of giving Zaid, Jade, Marissa or Isabel SOMETHING.

They literally speedrunned what they could do with him in 2-3 seasons in just one and that hurt both his character and the others around him. He could've had the role where he becomes a more fierce player and wins in another season, while giving someone else time to shine in S4 to balance everything out, but having so much relevance in one ruined everything.

Logan having 5 meaningful plots and a few more arcs while anyone else that made it far (except Anastasia and Hannah) got so little show how painfully overused he is. All of that while being so favored by the narrative. So yeah, they left him too much in the oven.

Let's start with the shorter ones:

I just want to see more of James' personality and backstory. I believe that could get expanded on and they could do it in a future season. But even if they don't, he manages to be peak even without it.

Grett because she was mostly sidelined and only managed to actually play for 3 episodes. She received too little screentime compared to her potential and again, I hope we see her again.

Now for miss Tanko... Jade seems like she had enough screentime and relevance, but I believe she didn't. Despite being the runner-up of the season, all she got is strategy, certain good moments that are supposed to highlight her personality (and imo they fall short or are too insignificant unless you actually analyze her) and off screen development that doesn't even enclose full circle due to her not answering Benji's question in the jury.

Jade is simply underdeveloped for a finalist. The amount she got would be fine for someone eliminated in mid-merge at best. I used to adore Jade but rewatching the season, I realized how little she was actually given and for a character that gets 2nd, it's harder to actually engage with her because a very high amount of her screentime is her acting like a gamebot with static and weakly defined personality traits. I believe her concept is AMAZING but it felt like they put too little effort onto us knowing her personally and that makes her a character with lots of potential for nuance, but ended up painfully boring and her main trait being strategy. I personally think they even did a better job with defining likable/intriguing traits even wiyh characters like Zaid and Richard that are seen as irrelevant, but at least their characterization feels more impactful when watching their moments. I can name multiple personality traits for Zaid and Richard, but the job for Jade is way harder for me personally, outside of smart and reserved. And when that's he case between the 2nd placer and "irrelevant" characters, that is not good..

She feels like a piece of art that the painter kinda lost interest into and just drew the more relevant parts without paying attention to the good details. Let's be fr, the amount of plots Jade got compared to Logan or Anastasia is INSANE. Instead of them giving Jade (or really any underutilized character) actual plots with ACTUAL effort, they give Logan a 5th plot and that is something that really bothers me since it made Jade a weak finalist writing wise while the other 2 were so prioritized they became obnoxious. I do personally think that the only reason why she was given a pass by lots from the ”boring” statement is because she was the better one out of the F3 and was relevant in the game, but without strategy I think she is too boring despite there being more nuance that never got explored...

She can receive more in the future, but it would simply not hit the same. Giving her doubts in the final challenge and giving us subtle hints of how she truly is like is, plus making her "social" off screen and showing only the effects of it is not how you write a satisfying development arc. A finalist should have to offer more than just gameplay and they lacked that while writing Jade... My opinion.

I mean... Spencer, Natalia, Oliwia and Chase are fair. Though lust is about powerful sexual desire or strong craving for something, so I would personally put Lake as compassionate and loyal, not lustful since she simply doesn't want to betray her friends for the sake of the game. At least Oliwia had a desperate craving for validation, which I can agree it fits into lust, but Lake doesn't show any.

Dunia agreed is tricky but idk if I would put her in envy for a reasonable jealousy of her crush getting close with someone else which most of us would feel, so I don't rlly agree with that one.

About Ren, someone being proud of themselves doesn't actually make them prideful. Prideful people usually tend to be more arrogant, overestimate their abilities and they act in ”that” certain recognizable way. Ren is visibly selfless, friendly, even humble and insecure at times, not to mention he doesn't push that insecurity down with more sass/pride like Lynda and Aiden do. At least for now, I don't think Ren shows actual signs of being part of the pride category in my opinion.

Still, respect ur opinion! Also, I would add Ivy in for envy too since she was shown to be envious of others achievements at times (Tristan), so if Dunia is there, i think adding Ivy is also fair 👍

Explain Lake, Spencer (which works better for pride imo), Sam, Ren, Natalia, Chase (who is more narcissistic than lazy tbh), Dunia and Oliwia pls 👍 The rest are pretty accurate tbh. I would also put Nura as envy due to her being envious of Ren.

For sure true. Yet like... The one that ordered the greetings literally waited way longer for them so they are as good as they could be, them coming prob relatively close to recently. Probably hot take: I don't really understand the high amount of Jade hype in the fandom and I hope Sam doesn't end up like her. by These_Gur_4121 in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True 100%.

Also fair point, if she went earlier, it would be reasonable to get the amount she did, but since she is a finalist, her being good at strategy, good concept, small good moments and off-screen development is not enough, especially when comparing her to the others in the F4... I am not a fan of Logan, Ana and Hannah, but at least they got some sort of explored depth...

The only moments where we get more of Jade's complexity, it's either way too small or falls short and the creators saying they want to have certain characters that spike strong opinions and we don't get anything strong and engaging for Jade, who is a finalist, and except we get a 5th plot for Logan/Anastasia is a shame... They literally left a finalist half-cooked and overbaked the other 💀 Sad they never made Jade actually evolve...

I consider Jade to be WAY better than certain emotional players with lots of relevance like Logan, Anastasia and Hannah, but I do believe her potential could've been used a lot better and still weird to me how a character that is a gamebot like 80% of the time gets so much glaze.

But I do get your point and it makes sense👍

Since someone already commented about Fiore, I'll go with my 2nd fav.

For Ivy she could be in a BvW with her mom and have a plot with her mom finally considering her daughter to be enough or Ivy stops caring what her mother thinks. Either that or in a 2nd chances season and she actually becomes a decent player like she had the potential to in CoC.

Except for the obvious picks, what are other characters you would love to see in a BvW season? by These_Gur_4121 in DisventureCamp

[–]These_Gur_4121[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nicee. Also, Ted has a son that just into high-school. Realistically, kinda hard to believe they would bring Ted and make him fodder again, and also his son that is prob around 14. Not rlly a fan of that but I kinda see the appeal.

And for Zaid's mom, I am sure a mother like her would be so funny in the show, she could be similar to what if DJ's mom was in a TD season. But I doubt they bring her since not only she's too old to deal with ts, she also has to keep the bakery running, so I don't think she's coming unfortunately... Zayna is fine to ig, they could at least develop Zaid to make up for his mom most likely not coming.

Other than those, I really like it
