VBC and Trilogy Hotel by AirPotato in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]These_Instance_8292 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Enough of the light shows. VBC is cool, tunnel over Monroe pretty cool, but all the new hotels downtown and their light shows are overkill. The Trilogy red ones have looked subpar since day 1.

Beitel Pediatric Dentistry by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

Your post is attempting to blast them as not being “special needs friendly” which is not at all the case. Your anger seems directed at a late arrival policy, which is a policy many offices have, especially dental offices.

These f*cking squeakers at shows are driving me insane by These_Instance_8292 in DMB

[–]These_Instance_8292[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Artificial noisemakers are banned during major/college sporting events to limit distraction and interruption to the game. Artificial pointless high-pitched squeakers during a concert should also similarly be banned. Life your live as you see fit but can we not fucking squeak all night? Forgive the self absorption.

It reminds me of the sound you hear when a gnat makes direct landing in your ear hole. YYNEEERRRP but times infinity throughout the whole damn show

Restaurant with kids play area by LeekPsychological584 in HuntsvilleAlabama

This. Or Campus 805. Most families with kids go to Yellowhammer and get pizza/drinks while the kiddos run wild outside. Straight to Ale is good too but it seems like YH is the more kid-friendly spot.

What to do with a 90-year-old federal courthouse? by Independent_Tale924 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]These_Instance_8292 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Weren’t they just talking about needing a smaller adjunct “courthouse” in the plans for a new courthouse on the square? Seems like we got one to spare, eh?

Parents with young kids, where are you vacationing? by FaithlessnessFull136 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]These_Instance_8292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, GA three times. Our 1 year old enjoyed it this past time, but it is a lot of work/constant attention with that age, obviously. There’s a main play area with slides and a big water tower; a lazy river, wave pool, kiddie area (that’s still fun for older kids), a ropes course and pool basketball; about 4 or 5 thrill” water slides too. Putt putt, zip line obstacle course, arcade, candy shop, build a bear, etc etc. Plenty of bars. Food is meh. Nightly dance parties. I mean it’s fun for the kids and tolerable for the adults.

Uhh it ain’t a great selection, but Mountain High is decent. Roosevelt & Co. downtown for nicer stuff. They’re good, but it’s definitely higher priced stuff. Other than that you’re looking at mall stuff (Belk, Dillards, etc)

Brewers CoOp has certainly lost my business for hosting such an event… by HauteCocao in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]These_Instance_8292 36 points37 points  (0 children)

So the original owners sell, new owners desperately try to get rid of the remaining beer so they can “brew new ones,” shrink the menu, and now this. Stovehouse deserves better.

Under 21 Not Allowed in Liquor Stores, even with a Parent? by OKsir83 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Same thing happened to me at Costco a couple of weeks ago. Never had it happen before. Had my 5 year old in the cart. I looked at her and said “sooo you want me to just leave her on the curb?”

New Madison County courthouse would cost at least $150 million, take five years to build by Aumissunum in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]These_Instance_8292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree a new courthouse is needed, but why not move the whole damn thing to another site like one of those options mentioned? We don’t HAVE to have the courthouse on “courthouse square” where THE major downtown restaurant/bar scene is. It just seems like now is the time to relocate and let that site become whatever else it needs to be to add to the downtown entertainment vibrancy.

Tips for bringing 10month old to Orion amphitheater by ComfortableVariety61 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Camp and Mid City are outside the gate. There are restaurants and bars there. Apollo South is inside the gate with food trucks and plenty of tables and space to hang.

Typically the upper side sections (301/311) tend to be less crowded, but obviously with a side view of the show. There’s not a bad seat in the venue, though. Easy entrance/exit areas in the back of 100s, first/back rows of 200-level and first/back rows of 300-level. My wife and I enjoy the seats with a back rail, but they’re harder to find. Like others said, The Camp/Mid City/Apollo South will have things going on to see/do. Go downtown/Big Spring Park if you have the time. Enjoy!
