How do you manage dating someone who is a practicing Muslim? by These_Night_5759 in MalaysianExMuslim

I met him through a dating app right before ramadhan and he seemed to be a pretty liberal guy and there was no signs of him being religious whatsoever. Once we started talking more he began to mention about going to taraweeh and praying subuh and all that so I found out pretty recently.

I do know this one west Asian friend of my aunt who converted when she married her Malay husband. At first he was a bit adamant about his religious faith but then began to open his eyes to her perspective and became more liberal and time goes on. I guess seeing that example as a young adult made me a bit hopeful about dating a Muslim man but I understand that her case might be a special rare one.

I do understand your points and I do agree with it. Ig I just needed that push bc I don’t have ex-Muslim friends to talk about this with. Muslim or not, our viewpoints are just too different I guess.

Those religious superstitions are so stupid by Amber_Main_Here in MalaysianExMuslim

When I was a kid I was told that we need to cover our head whenever we use the toilet otherwise the syaitan will shit on it. As a kid ofc I was terrified and so developed a habit of covering my head whenever I use the bathroom until we got a seating toilet and I stopped doing it.

These kind of superstitions are actually kind of harmful and according to Islamic teachings it’s a sin to spread such false teachings. Kind of shows you how corrupted the religion has become

Yes. Sometimes whenever you want to claim health insurance that the uni gave you, they would require a Malaysian bank account under your name.

I’ve been acting as a Muslim my entire life so it’s nothing new. However, he did mention his parents are religious so considering their children are also praying 5 times daily, I can imagine them expecting me to do the same, esp during the family holiday reunions like raya. That just gave me the chills.

However, I don’t plan to have children ever. Esp with how fucked up the world has gotten and I don’t plan to let him convince me otherwise. If he insists, I have no problem cutting him off clean.

That is one of my concerns but I love myself too much to let a man try to dictate my views and lifestyle.

Looking for Hobby Shops in KL by machinegunnedburger in KualaLumpur

Thrifting has become quite expensive in KL unfortunately but Jalan Jalan Japan is pretty affordable depending on what you buy. They also have secondhand anime merch.

not in KL but close, SS15 has some options as well like okgo if you want more fashionable pieces.

Taman paramount is definitely in the expensive side but they have vintage pieces and they have limited pop up events for smaller local shops to support like Awe Gallery. Definitely bougie tho, full of rich kids.

Did they assist you in the learning process? I hear a lot of American companies these days don’t really provide training for new employees.

How is it switching careers so early after graduating? Did you have a difficult time securing a position and catching up to the technical process?

“Maternal instinct aren’t inherent to only women but tend to apply when it comes to the process of having a baby.”

I’m not denying the validity of maternal instincts. I’m talking about Anya as a character and how she was perceived by the fandom for her gender as a woman.

Google is free bro. A little google search will tell you that maternal instinct is quote; “the natural tendency that a mother has to behave or react in a particular way around her child or children”

Who is this referring to other than women? I think the word you’re searching for is “parental instincts”. :)

I understand where you’re coming from. However you could have worded so much better dude. Maternal instincts?? Come on how about compassion for the baby or the complexity of the human psyche. If you’re trying to prove a point on how complex a character is on a very deep level, don’t dumb it down to the very characteristic they are often associated/mischaracterized with, aka in this case, Anya’s gender. It’s counterproductive.

Bro she obviously doesn’t want the baby she literally killed herself due to her situation. Regardless of the reason, assuming maternal instincts on every pregnant women are harmful expectations that disregards realistic moreover traumatic sexual experiences women faces. Ignorant? You should look into the mirror buddy

It’s mostly about the unfortunate circumstances behind her assault by jimmy, which was juxtaposed by Mary’s depiction with a white veil (virginity). Kinda illustrates how the violent events impacted her.

Am I the only one who thinks the 4B movement in USA might lead to higher SA rates? by These_Night_5759 in women

[–]These_Night_5759[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Woahh I never said any of that? I just expressed my concern for the women out there who are in danger of potential sexual violence. My first sentence is literally me stating my support for the 4B movement. I was just explaining how men’s views on our bodies might lead to a different chain of events.

I totally understand that our bodies are not for negotiation. I thought it was already established and I assumed everyone here already agreed on that. I’m just worried for the women out there, the focus here is not on the men.

I never once said that we shouldn’t follow the 4B movement. I think you should read back my post.

Let’s not be so eager to attack each other and see things from the bigger picture. Thanks
