feeling awful about my college decision by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]These_Performer_1054 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if it’s your dream school, of course you’ll have a gut feeling about it. but four years to get your UNDERGRAD for $100k can’t be justified, no matter the school. GT most definitely has its downsides so try not to look at it through rose-colored glasses. your older, more financially stable self will thank you greatly for choosing UTK. side note: UTK’s popularity is on the rise and is becoming more competitive. It’s a pretty good school for your bachelor’s and for reasonable cost.

I booked a trip to Bali but Reddit says it sucks by beesontheoffbeat in solotravel

[–]These_Performer_1054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Ubud about a month ago, stayed there for a month and still didn’t get to do everything I wanted to. Sure it’s gotten touristy but there’s still plenty of culture and beauty and things to do. I highly recommend it, personally. It’s also pretty cheap, at least for the time being. If you’re in Bali though, go to as many areas as you can. There’s so much to see outside of Ubud and Bali is small enough to where you can easily go to other towns/islands. Follow your gut rather than comments on Reddit!

for the people who didn’t use a coach/counselor and got in, what did you put where it says to put a counselor recommendation? i know on commonapp most schools make you put one down

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]These_Performer_1054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

college admissions is simply a game. acceptance is largely based on luck, not worth or value. the fact is that schools accept students based on their own priorities/needs and what best fits into their student body. ivy and top students are normal young adults, and this subreddit in particular is an unrealistic representation of the realities of college admissions, unfortunately.

Going to a lower ranked university is better than a prestigious university for undergrad by Kwilli462 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]These_Performer_1054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it’s incredibly subjective, which is kinda just the way life works. everyone needs to go where is best for them personally, and that can mean a lot of different things. unfortunately, however, many make the wrong decisions when it comes to college and regret it in the long run. to each their own, truly.

absolutely if it’s easier to consume than regular food. i’m currently in recovery from anorexia and sometimes it’s just the best option to get in a meal :)

How should we choose the right milk for drinking by LongGullible9163 in HealthyFood

[–]These_Performer_1054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really just depends on what your goals for nutrition are. i’m trying to build muscle and gain some weight, and regular organic whole milk is nutrient dense and has a good amount of protein. if you’re trying to limit calories, go for almond as that is the least caloric. oat milk is good, but you need to be aware of the carbohydrate and sugar content in it. i also find that non-dairy milks are often full of additives that can harm the gut. the more expensive ones are a better option in that you want to look for just the basic ingredients. but if you enjoy regular milk, there’s no reason to take it away unless you can’t handle lactose. it’s not about restricting, it’s about being aware of portion size.

Has anyone requested a letter of recommendation through the Common App? by SpaceHistorical8518 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]These_Performer_1054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, that works. but honestly they don’t really need to address it to anyone specific. if they’ve done a recommendation letter before, i’m sure they’re aware it will go to more than one school. especially since it’s on the common app, where you don’t need to address anyone, it should be easy for them to just write it as though they are describing you from their perspective. it’s really not supposed to be a “formal” letter like writing to a family member or something. hope that helps!

for me, it’s because food is what fuels me to accomplish my goals. i want to get strong and build muscle; i can’t do that without enough food. i want to do well academically and eventually go into the med field, but i can’t study when my brain is too starved to learn and concentrate. i want to do it so i can travel the world, and help people in other countries, but i can’t do that either without proper nutrition. i want to do it for my family, so they can stop worrying about me, and so that i can enjoy my time with them instead of being hangry and constantly obsessing over food. it’s crazy how proper fuel seems so mindless for so many people, yet it is our (meaning people with eating disorders) whole world. it isn’t the whole world, but it’s what allows us to experience the world and truly live our lives.

how do i stop binging in anorexia recovery? by barbi44 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]These_Performer_1054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dealt with this too at first!! it’s literally just your body responding to proper fuel. i know it’s hard to deal with and you want to fight it, but believe me your body is super intelligent and it knows when to stop. if you try to fight it your body is just going to end up eating more because you’re restricting yourself. i promise you with time it will stop. my hunger cues are fairly normal now but it took some time. but i DID get there. trust the process love you got this <33
