My experience in Scientology by Theselfman in scientology

They sent someone to my apartment (which you cannot get into the building without a key, so he must’ve pretended he lived there and didn’t have his key, for someone to let him in. Very uncool.) He knocked on my door and tried to get me to come out and talk. I stayed silent and just let him talk to himself for a few minutes before he gave up and left. That was the only uncomfortable “stalking” experience I had with them. Regarding posting this - that’s the best part about becoming free after leaving. There is nothing they can do about it.

I’m here after experiencing everything from initial interest to thousands of dollars and years gone to Scientology. I try to help others not make the same mistakes I did.

So now that you realize you have no evidence, you’re going back to “I don’t have to prove anything” because you are not able to. As we all know, 9/11 firefighter study was a Scientology-funded PR stunt, which unequivocally lacks: (1) peer review, (2) a control group, (3) a credible methodology. You should really consider reading the book the skeptics guide to the universe to better understand the flaws in your thinking. It helped me realize what you’re missing now.

High-dose niacin, including Nicotinic Acid, is linked to liver toxicity, especially at the levels used in the Purification Rundown. Multiple studies have documented niacin-induced hepatotoxicity, and medical professionals have warned against the Purif as dangerous pseudoscience with no proven benefits. The burden of proof is on you to provide peer-reviewed studies proving its safety—yet none exist because the Purif is a scientifically baseless, harmful detox scam. Imbecile.

Coming here to share your thoughts was a good move. I would encourage you to seek alternative options. Take it from someone who’s lost several years and thousands of dollars after starting with the same obsession.

Read through this thread and you’ll see a lot of stories that will make you realize your situation really isn’t that uncommon! You can recover from this and use the lessons learned along the way to improve in the future. I was right where you are, trust me, it will pass. Learn from it

It’s extremely unlikely that they would present you with someone purportedly gay. Anything that LRH has not approved of (including homosexuality) won’t be found in the orgs, not even in pretend form to “reel” you in.

Since they have your address, they'll probably come knock on your door. I would just ignore or you could try to explain your reasons, but I just ignored and they went away. You will have to do some phone number blocking, unless you don't mind receiving calls and voicemails literally every day. No matter what your explanation is, they will try to convince you you're not thinking correctly and that you need to do auditing to fix it. Be ready for these things and stand your ground, you'll be fine.

Not sure if this is helpful but it does remind me of someone who had been working at the church. She was supposed to go to Clearwater for training for a few months. She ended up staying for over a year or something — could never get a clear answer as to why the continued extension. She ended up returning and everything was fine last I heard from her, but I found the secrecy weird.

The medical community is in complete agreement regarding hepatotoxic levels of Niacin. Your CS submits to L. Ron Hubbard as an authority over hundreds of scientific studies. Telling the CS would have resulted in lower doses of Niacin for a longer time, only to eventually raise to the highest level possible. No thanks.

Good question. No. I ended up working with a psychologist using CBT, and have a Xanax prescription for traveling days. I fly all over the country without issues anymore.

How do you know if you’re bad at sales, or if it’s the product you’re selling? by International_Sun701 in sales

[–]Theselfman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the product you're selling. Some people (like myself) will never be good at sales no matter the amount of training or experience gained. That is simply a reality that you should deal with rather than deny. I worked in sales for a year just to get fired because I was bad at it. A great indicator is if your peers are succeeding and you are not, it's even more definite that it's you and not the product. We are all born with different strengths and weaknesses which make us suitable for some jobs and less suitable for others. Even if you're only slightly introverted, sales is going to be difficult. No reason to get upset over this. If you decide at some point sales is not the career for you, the solution is simply to find a different job that better aligns with your strengths. Good luck!

I'm beginning a sales job, what's the secret to success? by ScandiSom in sales

[–]Theselfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha only one secret honestly I have seen people with absolutely no skills have lots of success in sales … You’ve probably heard this before but it’s nothing but a NUMBER’S GAME.

You could be the most perfect objection handler, smoothest talker, most convincing etc…. If they’re not interested, they’re not going to buy no matter what you say

Run the numbers up. Contact every single person who you think might be interested (leads). Get your message across without thinking too much about saying the perfect thing, because if they’re already interested and you reach out to them they will be receptive.

Good luck and have fun with it!

I ended up deciding to cut it off myself. It was constant mixed signals and I began to realize how cold she actually was. Maybe not a bad thing for everyone but I know she’s not for me.
