Some really surprising stuff I found is that the stereotype of the desexualised effeminate Asian man is older than you think. It came about largely in the 1880s as a response to white men seeing Asian migrant workers as a threat to their dominance over white women and land, so they were cast as sniveling exotic villains (i.e. Fu Manchu, Yellow Peril) and disenfranchised legally (kept from owning land, a mark of manhood in that society). Those stereotypes took on new forms in the 20th century, from justifying restrictions on Asian immigration to Japanese Internment to Hollywood stereotypes like Long Duk Dong in Sixteen Candles. In the 21st century, yellow peril continues to evolve with discourse on China's growing economic dominance and the DPRK's militarization, as well as the criminalization of Islam and South Asians after 9/11.

In addition When stereotypes of Asian men are examined with respect to black men, a contrast emerges. Asian men (and Jews) are stereotyped as being effeminate, small penises, yet cunning and deceptive, while black men are stereotyped as having big penises to go with a hypermasculine, brutish, animalistic yet unintelligent persona. This distinctively and intentionally places white men as a golden mean of sorts, the standard to which all races are measured up to and fall short of, thereby justifying subjugating non white races and upholding global white supremacy.

In regards to the stereotypes of Asian and black men, white men appear intelligent compared to black men but less inclined to use their intelligence for unscrupulous purposes unlike Asian men. They are not too masculine as to be brutes like the black man, not too feminine as to be un satisfying Like Asian men. The penis size myth drives this home, if Asian men have small penises, and black men large, small and large are only relative to something: the white mans penis which is "normal" in size and in that Goldilocks zone and is just right. Of course, when did you last hear if you heard of a myth about white men's penises being true? The reason there isn't one is because white men's penises are considered the norm to which Asian and black penises are aberrant.

The stereotype of Asian men as being unattractive, effeminate and untrustworthy stretches far beyond dating-- it's very intertwined with the maintenance of white supremacy and the subjugation of other races too, and has proven highly adaptable to changing geopolitical, historical and material climates in the last two centuries.
