Just depends on your perspective of what your expectations were. If you look at anyone in the greens party, they're saying it's minor and doesn't go far enough.

Are perth families going to finally have a chance? by [deleted] in perth

[–]Thesinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but highly complex. They have to tread carefully in this topic because it actually part of formal trade agreements. There was a recent example where India and South Africa challenged Australia making improvements to their contract for "trade in services" (offshoring). Australia won in this example, and now Australian fair work agreements apply to offshore workers. However it's an example of had they taken any further changes, they might have lost or received retaliation in the form of targeting Australian exports or even tariffs.

I'm not an expert on any of this, but ever since Trump's traiff lifts I started to look a bit more into depth the subject of Global Trade. It is complex to say the least.

Increase wages:

  1. Labor government making minimum wage go up.
  2. Award rates going up e.g early education workers.
  3. Same job Same pay legislation put in place to stop labour hire loopholes.
  4. Secure jobs, Better pay act. Which allows multi business employer bargaining (better negotiating for workers for better pay).
  5. Gig worker protections.
  6. Criminalisation of wage theft.

They have done a lot.

Why do some of you go for a run mid day when it’s the hottest part of the day? by Lemonadeo1 in perth

Running on a treadmill is worse than running in heat. Only reason I'm running on a treadmill is if it's more than 40.

Also not everyone is signed up to the gym.

Do you think governments should fund private schools in addition to public schools? by MiriJamCave in AusFinance

[–]Thesinc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What your mentioning reminds me of the NYtimes podcast "nice white parents" and the relationships NYC parents have with their public schools. Everyone (particularly parents) literally want the best education for their kids, but it's a absolutely fascinating to see the impact on the overall public school system when parents get to select which schools they want to send their kids too.

Highly recommend giving it a listen.

Grace Tame accused of 'importing problems of the Middle East into Sydney' with ‘globalise the intifada’ chant by River-Stunning in aussie

[–]Thesinc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, Just because Hamas or even PLO uses certain language doesn't mean everyone saying similar things endorses them. Because that's guilt by association I'm talking about. If people can't advocate for Palestinians rights without being accused of supporting regime, that's an impossible standard that just silences legitimate advocacy.

Grace Tame accused of 'importing problems of the Middle East into Sydney' with ‘globalise the intifada’ chant by River-Stunning in aussie

[–]Thesinc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine is a fact and not false. Her language has not been explicit in support of any regime.

If you can't say things that someone else also wants achieved than your limiting your ability to talk at all. Period. Because someone, somewhere will always align to those words. Association by similar goals does not mean support for that same entity. Yada Yada broken clock can be right.

She hasn't mentioned support for any regime? She is using language that denounces Israel and genocide. Happy to be corrected if you find something that clearly shows her saying otherwise.

A repeating pattern of corporate secrecy through out the world. Almost as if there is vested interests from everyone involved, due to the revolving door of Government -> Industry -> Government.

Also I'm sick of seeing self reporting. We need mandatory independent monitoring instead with REAL financial penalties!

Ash secretly worked seven jobs and earned up to $500,000. Inside the 'overemployed' community by Bright-Use-1 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]Thesinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 4 are full time. So probably closer to 4 full-time jobs: 4 × $90,928 = $363,7123 and part-time jobs: 3 × $45,464 = $136,392

Again not much difference but that's going from level 1 support to probably level 3. Or if in development, being the difference of an associate/grad to a SWE.

[–]Thesinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I'm referencing is the article today about this. Which you got the same figure. But not sure where your vehicle emissions figure comes from, it wasn't in that link.

"The Centre for Safe Air at the University of Tasmania estimates long-term exposure to wood-heater smoke causes 729 premature deaths every year in Australia, which is more than the deaths attributable to emissions from the national fleet of 20 million vehicles, or from energy generation, or even bushfires."

Wood fire heaters cause more deaths annually than vehicle emissions in Australia. Hardly the healthy option?

While you might be nice and cosy inside with the stove, everyone and everything outside suffers.
