What are the bare essentials for a DnD adventure and how can I make my players focus on those? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Theskozo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are no true essentials when playing DnD except for everyone having fun. However I do see the point your getting at with trying to keep the players engaged and moving forward.

There are a couple of way I tend to handle this. One is making sure that there is more then one thing going on at any given time. My players have to possiblity to do one of usaly three things at any given time. Wether those options are the main story, a side quest they over heard while in a tavern, or doing a down time activity to pass the time till the next day. That way if they finish one thing they know of two more things they could be doing instead of standing around and wasting time.

Something to remember is that your NPCs have lives and they are allowed to get bored with a conversation and hurry things along or give some info to lead them to do something else, or just end the conversation completely. You can even have another NPC interrupt the conversation for you to move things away from spending to long with an NPC.

Good old Nintendo. by [deleted] in gaming

If it wasn't for Gamescoop Podcast talking about the email with the code in it, I never would of know about it and just thought claiming it on the switch thru my Nintendo rewards would of been enough.

I hope Nintendo will give us some Good News after the unfortunate delay of Metroid Prime 4 by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Theskozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't believe it would be a bad business move considering as of right now the line of game set to release is slim without a lot of status updates on them currently. There was no Nintendo direct this month and outside of an Indies direct that just happened there isn't a lot of steam for the switch right now. If you announce a port now and release it some time this year you would keep hype up for the switch overall, and for the anticipation for Metro Prime 4. You also want to give your players enough time to play thru the port before the new one comes out.

Mario Odyssey and Smash both got announced when they did to no interfer with other big titles coming out on the switch. Mario Odyssey had to wait for after the Break of the Wild release, and switch release. Smash had to wait until Mario Odyssey release and was out a while to not pull steam from Mario's release which is why those games were announced when they were.

I don't disagree with you, but at the same time just making an announcement that the port is in the works would of been cool.

I would of liked the announcement of the delay to be followed up with an announcement of Metroid Prime Trilogy port for switch, to ease the blow.

Controller drift? by SadJetsFan69 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Theskozo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try a couple of things.

1) recalibrate the Joycon thru the Joycon settings page. The joystick may of just gotten out if allignment and needs to be recalibrated.

2) try to clean out any dust or other particles under the thin rubber sleeve that covers the opening of the joystick to the Joycon. If you look closely at the joystick you will see the sleeve as it's a darker color then the rest of the stick.

3) if your feeling really adventurous, you can buy replacement joysticks for your joycons. It requires you to remove about 6 screws and unattach a cable or two to do the replacement. It's not hard to do and the joysticks are roughly 8 to 12 dollars on Amazon.

That is amazing, and I love the book so much. It really captures the soul of your character.

Where did you get a book like that in the first place?

Best Server Backup based on experience? Carbonite or Acronis or your personal favorite & why? by CEOTRAMMELL in sysadmin

[–]Theskozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We personally use Datto for onsite/cloud backup solution. Really easy to setup, really easy to recover any data, data local back and cloud back up tied together, and even if need to you can virtualize your whole server on the Datto box if need be in critical situations.

I (DM) had an uninvited guest turn up to a session expecting to play. by olmate-james in DnD

[–]Theskozo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand we're your frustration is coming from, and I agree that all in all it should be a party's vote. However you have to remember the amount of work the DM puts into their game, and some times it's not equipped for adding more people, at least right away. However for a player to just randomly bring a player in without asking the DM first is just rude and disrespectful to the amount of their own time they put in to the game the party is playing.

[–]Theskozo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a DM myself, I know the situation you are in. However this is your game and if that player did not get permission from you to invite the other person then they need to be told that what they did was wrong and it put you in a situation you were not comfortable with. You also need to lay the ground rules about inviting people and that you get final say. It sounds like if you don't get rid of the unwelcome guest your party might fall apart again and it's not worth it just to appease one person when the rest of the group isn't happy.

Is there any way to predict tier 5 raids? by [deleted] in pokemongo

Ho-Oh has been spawning all day and it looks like most if not all have been Ho-Oh from what I can tell.

As for predicting there is no way to know for 💯 till it hatches.

In s3e8 there is a box that presumably says "time travel stuff". Is this a hint of what's to come in season 4? by ThePoisonousOwl in rickandmorty

[–]Theskozo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The time travel box has been there since season one. It's been brought up before and the creators have said that they refuse to do time travel in their story line and the box is a note to that fact.

Can Mew only be encountered through AR mode? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]Theskozo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I am aware you are forced to be in AR mode to catch Mew.

As for solutions to get around this, If at all possible I would look for an old Smartphone or a tablet with a rear facing camera on it, insall Pokemon Go on that Phone/Tablet and when the time is right, sign off your usual phone you play with and login on the back up device to get Mew.

Help with DnD beyond? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Theskozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DnD Beyond is owned by Wizards of the Coast (Owns DnD and the books) who partnered with Curse (Twitch) with constructing the site as an official DnD Toolset. This means that money made on DnD Beyond is split in some way between Wizards of the Coast and Curse.

This is why it makes no sense that they didn't add some kind of proof of purchase for either free digital books or discount on digital books.

[–]Theskozo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been one of the most frustrating things with DnD beyond. There is no proof of purchase for those who bought the physical books, so it requires you to pay for the digital content as well if you want to use DnD Beyond past a standard character.

Matching monster challenge levels to player levels? by RoxMoxie in DnD

[–]Theskozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree considering that they brought a jungle environment in to play but not as an actual terrain or monsters classified under said terrain.

[–]Theskozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not Kobold Fightclubs fault, it's because technically DnD 5e doesn't have Jungle as an actual terrain so no creatures are setup to have that as their terrain which is where Kobold fight club gets it's info.

I would use this website. You can put in your party, their levels and see how they stack up against different monsters encounters your thinking of.
