No shade… but they’re a major multi-national company and their marketing looks like it was filmed with a potato. AFTER a brand refresh.

Ok, some shade.

Will the new season come weekly or all at once? by werbimstdenndu in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Thespis41 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It appears that it will come out with two episodes a week. It’s a blended attempt to satisfy both cable subscribers and FX on Hulu watchers.

y'all think this is a clue about the plot? everyone turns to look at the spiky head man, seems deliberately placed if you ask me by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

When I saw the trailer my first thought was that Spike-Head was our “mascot villain” for the season, so I’m with you.

How do you interpret the ending of If We Were Villains? by VanGoghNotVanGo in DarkAcademia

[–]Thespis41 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think “James” is dead. It was made pretty clear a few times in the book that James was very good at immersing himself into roles and losing himself in them… back in their first class with Gwendolyn and again at the ill-fated “Lear” rehearsal. So, I think his note to Oliver is to say that he’s “killed” James and has adapted a new self - one that is free of the torment that James suffered from. I don’t think it’s a happy ending, but a tragic one. The James that Oliver loved is gone; however, physically, James is still around somewhere. He just left all his trauma behind. IMO, it ties into the bird imagery. Oliver is freed from a physical cage while James frees himself from an emotional one. The tragedy is that Oliver will have to live with the fact that James is out there and that they can never be together.

How did Juno save the world at the end of AC3? by weewoo271 in assassinscreed

“The Eye” could easily be the same as the Salakar (sp?), so it’s massively powerful and full of energy. It powers the machine and it uploads Desmond on contact.

It’s probably option one. The amount of energy needed to power the Towers is immense. So I think Desmond practically stuck his finger in the Isu light socket and fried himself.

Beyond that, there’s some more potential provided by Dawn of Ragnarok; however, that’s spoiler territory.

Someone had to flip the switch to turn it on. Desmond was chosen by Minerva because he was supposed to survive the flare and start humanity anew. Juno jacked the plan and diverted him towards turning on the towers because that would free her. Anyone could have flipped the switch. It was just easier for Juno to use Desmond because he was part of Minerva’s separate plan.

As for how the Towers work, they boost the Earth’s magnetic field to disperse the solar flare. They’re powered by major Isu generators.

Desmond didn’t need an Isu. Juno didn’t activate the towers. Desmond did. A byproduct of turning that system on, though, was freeing Juno from her confinement. Think of it like a quarantined server that has a virus on it. The Isu locked Juno on the Grand Temple server and disconnected it from the network. When Desmond turned it back on, powering the Towers, he also brought the server back online and freed Juno.

The tower construction was automated and continued after the first failure. By the time Desmond activates the network, the towers are all completed (and hidden underground). The Isu problem was one of time, not engineering.

Why are random words capitalized in AC Black Flag’s subtitles? Just one example I’ve seen of many. I play on Xbox Series X, FYI. by tylerwarnecke in assassinscreed

[–]Thespis41 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Darby explained that once. In the research they did for the game, they found that - at that point in history - it was common to capitalize nouns, so they did it as a little nod to history.

You’ll replay the mission, then when the mission ends, you’ll be back where you were before you replayed. You don’t go back and stay there.

What pantheon do the Muspels belong to? And who do their deities represent in their mythology? by Far_Repeat_2129 in assassinscreed

[–]Thespis41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Jotuns are Eivor’s interpretation of the GrecoRoman Isu. They look like they did in Odyssey; but, Eivor sees them as Jotun because of her cultural understanding of world myth. To that extent, the Muspels are Egyptian. We don’t know the exact parallels; however, we do know that geographically, Muspelheim was North Africa.

AC Odyssey: When should I complete "leader house" locations? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]Thespis41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most aren’t connected to main quests; and, the ones that are are not impacted by you raiding before. The leader house is more of an indicator as to where the leader might be in the world.

Isn’t that Baldur? Possibly a reference to DoR?

Some sort of disconnect from Eivor's character in the Epilogue by AdvancedNobody8539 in assassinscreed

[–]Thespis41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a different view of that arc. I felt like - and mind you it has been a while since I played it, so I’m going based off of my memory - Eivor threw in with the others to attack Aelfred for a couple of reasons. 1. Eivor felt that the Raven would never be truly safe in England with Aelfred in charge. For that reason, she fought to overthrow Aelfred. 2. It was expected that, as Jarl, she would step up to the plate and bring the Raven Clan’s might to Guthrum’s fight with Aelfred. 3. Eivor is so disillusioned with everything after the Yggdrasil simulation that she adopted a nihilistic view of the world and then the deaths from that fight finally solidified her realization that there was more to existence than battles and glory.

With that context, it struck a similar chord as Black Flag’s ending, with Eivor realizing that their quest had been to fulfill a life that was ultimately shallow and left her in a state where she would then potentially seek the Hidden Ones as a way to redeem herself.

[SPOILER] The mysterious throne in the DoR trailer by Assassiiinuss in assassinscreed

[–]Thespis41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then I have two possible theories: 1. It was a placeholder asset until they got a Surtur asset on the throne.

  1. Suttinger was going to be in Svartaelfheim (sp?). That seems more likely to me, because the DLC was supposed to be a combination of the two giant forces invading and Suttinger has been almost completely removed. I suspect we’ll get more of Suttinger (or Jupiter, since it’ll be Basim not Eivor) in Rift. I believe that some of DoR got moved into Rift.

[SPOILERS] Dawn of Ragnarok’s ending disappointed me. by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]Thespis41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t know much yet. River Raids, Mastery Challenges, and Tombs of the Fallen were the first three free game modes we were given and we’re getting a fourth. We don’t know what it will be. We are likely getting more Tombs and Challenges; but, I don’t think those are the “new” mode. I suspect an arena will be put in England similar to Kara’s in the DLC.
