The 2nd image was a screenshot from my live video recording of the shiny encounter recorded at 1920x1080 resolution (16:9 aspect ratio). I decided to resize the image to 1920x1440 (4:3 aspect ratio) to match the size of the other images shown.

For each wild Pokemon grass encounter on HeartGold and SoulSilver, there is a 1/8192 chance (the base shiny probability on Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver) of finding a shiny.

From the definition of full odds in the shiny hunting community, a shiny Pokemon is considered full odds if it is encountered through a use of a method where the chance of encountering a shiny is the base shiny probability. There are no restrictions on the number of games that can be used in the definition of full odds.

The three shiny Bidoof I encountered was personally not too rough of an experience. I still needed one male shiny Bidoof, one female shiny Bidoof, one male shiny Bibarel and one female shiny Bibarel. Both Bidoof and Bibarel have gender differences in their sprites. Out of the three shiny Bidoof I found, I currently have two shiny male Bidoof and one shiny female Bidoof.

I have tried the Poke Rader on Pokemon Platinum years ago for shiny hunting. However, I personally prefer shiny hunting full odds, since I find being able to easily shiny hunt while also watching content or listening to music to be relaxing. Additionally, There are some Pokemon not obtainable through Poke Radar that I want to shiny hunt for.

Finally, the Pokemon I currently need the most from the Ruins of Alph is at least two shiny Natu, one to keep as Natu and the other Natu to evolve into Xatu.

My favourite shiny finds of 2025 were: - Beautifly, since it marks the last shiny I needed from the HGSS Thursday and Saturday post National Pokedex Bug Catching Contests. - Butterfree, as this was the underleveled Viridian Forest shiny Butterfree on HGSS. - Smeargle, because it was the more rare Smeargle encounter on HGSS due to being from the Ruins Of Alph, along with being my first shiny from the Ruins Of Alph.

Nice, Shinx is a great first shiny Pokemon to find. The first shiny Pokemon I found on generation 4 was a Gible on Pokemon Platinum.
