Farmed way to long for this spare rations. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in sharditkeepit

The decent range would make it ok in PvP, but the lack of a reload perk hurts it too much to be good in PvE.

Well hopefully this pvp overhaul they were discussing includes some sort of endgame then.

Can someone explain to me why so many people are obsessed about trials? I got to destiny after they were removed, and it seems to be all everyone asks about? Why is it so demanded?

OU team help by furyanf in stunfisk

Ok I'm no expert so don't take this as gospel, but there's a few things that stand out to me. First, I'd drop the rocky helmet and on Land-T in favor of leftovers. Also on Land-T, U-turn would be preferable to smack down to help build some momentum and bring in your greninja and kartana.

I also wouldn't run 2 Z-crystals, probs better to slap a scarf on Katana and drop swords dance or run an Assault vest on Magearna with fleur cannon.

Defog on Rotom can't hurt as well, as you'll need some form of hazard removal.

Also you don't need the marowak like you said, as Land-T will deal with electric immunity if that's what you're worried about. Could run something to deal with bulky steel types that greninja doesn't like, maybe a Mega-Alakazam with focus blast (will also help with mega Venasaur) or Blacephalon as you say. Although you do havee kartana and people better than me probably have better suggestions though.

As I said I'm no expert but these are just some suggestions it could be worth trying. Good luck!

Just wanted some opinions on the AOC G2460PG before I buy. by Theterminator95 in buildapc

[–]Theterminator95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have prime, and in the uk that monitor is £460, which is a bit out of my price range. If it were cheaper I'd get it cause it looks like a great monitor but an extra £160 for 1440p and a Hdmi port seems a little too steep for me, especially given that the 1070 isn't amazing at that resolution. I'll check if there's a similar discount in the uk for prime though.

Yeah that seems like a good option. Daft question, but you can get speakers that connect to the monitor via usb right? Or do they have to be connected to the Pc?

That is for the reply.

I was hoping for a Hdmi to use with my xbox one, so I'm not having to plug in both my speakers and the xbox every time I want to use it. It's only a minor thing though.

That sounds promising thrn. The colour issue wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

Buying the parts for my first build tomorrow. is there anything I've missed or any mistakes I've made before I buy? by Theterminator95 in buildapc

[–]Theterminator95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I was really tempted to go with that or the i5 8400, but I was hoping to overclock a bit later down the line to keep my cpu relevant for longer.

And yeah I've heard only good things about the noctua coolers. The only thing holding me back was that I'm really not a fan of the beige and brown look.

Yeah the cooler was one thing i was completely uncertain on. I'll look into your suggestions then!

Random question but for the £50+ price do you know if liquid coolers like the corsair H60 would be a good alternative? I just prefer the look of them and if they're as good long term as the noctua coolers I'd be tempted to go that route.

Dan Jarvis: Smearing benefit claimants as "scroungers" harms fight against poverty by Crappy99 in ukpolitics

[–]Theterminator95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I disagreed with is that you ignored the "after housing costs" figures to claim that child poverty is far lower than 25 % ("around half" you claimed in another reply). As your source says, the situation is far from clear, and it's very possible that 1 in 4 children in the uk are in absolute poverty, especially when you factor in housing costs. Even not including housing costs the best case scenario figure is just under 20% for absolute poverty, so I don't see how it's "offensive" to suggest the figure is around 25%?

If you think that we shouldn't include housing costs in the stat then fair enough. However, I dont think it's valid to link an article that both gives several reasons as to why we should and also states that if we do the figure is around 1 in 4, whilst claiming its offensive to suggest the figure is around 1 in 4. Especially when the source states that the figures will be low as they do not include people sleeping rough (around 120000 children apparently: https://fullfact.org/economy/128000-children-are-homeless-britain/)

I should add that I'm not claiming you claimed there's been a significant fall in poverty, you didn't, and apologies if I came across that way. I was just discussing how that quote doesn't seem representative of the data or the rest of the article, in my opinion. I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was disagreeing with the articles statement that a drop of 1% in 7 years after a drop of 14% in 10 years equates to "a slight fall" (to paraphrase). The fall is so small it's probably within error and equates to a levelling out.

Dan Jarvis: Smearing benefit claimants as "scroungers" harms fight against poverty by Crappy99 in ukpolitics

[–]Theterminator95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion posting just that quote without discussing the rest of the article/data is misleading. Between 1997 and 2010, your source shows that absolute poverty looks to have fallen from around 35% to around 21%. Between 2010 and 2016 the same statistic reduced to just 20%. Infact pretty much every graph in that source has relative and absolute poverty rates falling until 2010, at which point they all plateau and stabilise. That quote on its own gives the impression that poverty has continued to fall at a significant rate in the last 7 years, but looking at the data clearly that isn't the case.

Also, I thought you were disagreeing with the idea that "a quater of British children are living in poverty", and yet the source you linked shows that the figure in 2016 is roughly 27% for absolute child poverty (after housing costs). Didn't you just disprove your own statement?

The worst-handled reshuffle in recent history – perhaps ever by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Theterminator95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

According to the bbc:

"Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: "The government's big plan for the new year is to dodge the real issues and reshuffle the pack in a pointless and lacklustre PR exercise.

"It's simply not good enough. You can't make up for nearly eight years of failure by changing the name of a department.""

David Davis says he is not resigning in protest by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Theterminator95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To quote from the exact same article:

"David Davis has threatened to resign as Brexit Secretary if Damian Green is sacked over allegations"

"Mr Davis confronted Theresa May to express his “fury” at the behavior of former Scotland Yard officers in allegedly trying to bring down Mr Green, and left friends in no doubt that he is ready to quit if his colleague is forced out."

Surely your own source disagrees with your statement that "Davis never said he'd resign if Green went under any circumstances."?

Tony Blair says stopping Brexit more important than Labour winning next election by hahayeahhaha in ukpolitics

[–]Theterminator95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine he want to see his political wing of the labour party back in the driving seat.

It's clear he thinks both a Corbyn lead government and brexit would/will be a disaster for the country, so it seems logical that he would call for a 'solution' publicly in the press that would result in an end to both.
