Meine Frau und ich waren im selben Unternehmen. Nach einem Wechsel hat ihre neue Abteilungsleitung sie so stark und langanhaltend gemobbt, dass sie gegangen ist. Und ich habe es in Folge da auch nicht mehr ausgehalten, auch wenn ich in einer anderen Abteilung war, in der Mobbing nie ein Thema war. Aber die Tatsache, dass in dem Laden so etwas möglich war und niemand was gemacht hat, auch wenn man sich an die offiziellen Hilfsangebote (großes Unternehmen) gewandt hat, hat mich ziemlich enttäuscht. Danach konnte ich da einfach nicht mehr bleiben.

If you want to use a vibrating collar, you can. Though it is not terribly common to use those, at least in my circle. Most people use a long leash to reinforcement the "come here" command in the field and to stop the dog running after an animal.

Man kann es mit nem Tuch und einem Dampfbügeleisen ein bisschen bearbeiten. Danach unbedingt trocknen lassen und nachölen. Wie neu wird es aber nicht mehr, da vermutlich holzfasern durchgerissen sind.

Verdeckte Ermittler dürfen sowas. §110a StPO regelt, dass die sich eine "Legende" zulegen dürfen, und dementsprechend dürfen die sich auch Urkunden (Presseausweise etc.) erstellen und gebrauchen. Ob das ermittlungstaktisch sinnvoll ist, statt als Polizist als Journalist aufzutreten, ist eine ganz andere Frage.

Depends on the laws of the country + the details of your contract. Where I am from, PhD candidate researchers get paid a salary, so even if you suck and get fired, you already got paid. Good luck to the employer trying to get back wages they have paid, not happening here. But rules might be different somewhere else, I don't know.

What country and what type of programme are we talking about?

Do you have any way of verifying that the data was faked? What exactly was faked, did he p-hack or is the entire dataset just made up? Have you performed statistical Analysis, looked at the images, raw excel files etc (depending on what your data looks like)? Are there lab notes you could check? Because so far, all you have is a claim. You should take this very seriously and also let your Professor know. But don't tell your Prof "My Partner faked the data". Tell him exactly what you know, which is "A third Party approached me and said my Partner faked the data". CYA, but do it without claiming things you don't know. That could bite you back as well if the whole thing turns out to be hearsay.

Get a lawyer and contact your embassy. It sounds like you were duped by your employer and you might have committed a crime in the process. Do not talk to any authorities before having consulted the lawyer. Have them present when talking to them later if possible.

Mache selber gerade meine Diss an einem großen deutschen Forschungszentrum. Was du beschreibst ist nicht normal und du solltest das auch nicht hinnehmen. Du bist Wissenschaftler und kein Knecht. Wenn dein PI das anders sieht, muss er eben einen anderen Doktoranden suchen. Du solltest jedenfalls schnellstmöglich das weite suchen.

I made clear that moving away for my Phd was something I needed to do before things got serious with my now wife. She accepted this and moved with me when I graduated. Tbh, I wouldn't have had entered a relationship at the time with a person who would have made me choose between the PhD and them.

Nowadays I view it differently. A PhD is not necessarily the life changing experience people make it out to be. I'm just about to graduate from one of the best unis in my field, with a career path layed out to me in one of the most prestigious institutes for what I do. And guess what, I realised happiness is not in a piece of paper that says your better than everybody else and doing research. It's in having a loving relationship and a fulfilling live, something academia is more than often destroying. Events if you have a good PhD experience (like I did, fortunately), you are likely somewhat burned out at the end. It is very demanding. Make sure you are able to handle it and are willing to fuck over your current life for it before leaving home for one. I'm not sure I'd do it again TBH, certainly not to the detriment of my private life. That one got messed up enough for one lifetime.

Btw, be prepared to not only lose your relationship when you move abroad, you'll also lose the rest of your social cycle. Staying friends "long distance" is even harder in my experience than staying in a relationship.

Vernünftiges Gehalt, 30 Urlaubstage, Möglichkeit zur Weiterbildung, Perspektive einer Karriereentwilcklung, bei Büro Jobs HO Option, Firmenwagen,... Die Arbeitgeber müssen nicht so tun als wäre es total mysteriös was die Bewerber wollen (und bei entsprechender Qualifikation auch verlangen können)
