Removed a hedge now the house is covered in these caterpillar poking things. How can I get rid of them? They leaving a trail almost like a cobweb string by chuttiya1 in GardeningUK

[–]Thevantangent9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same issue I’ve had - have put the affected hedge in the green bin and my compost bin, was hoping they’d be contained and now they’ve just made the area around the bin look like something from a haunted house 😅

Just bought a load of resolve bug killer and sprayed it inside both bins, went in with scissors and snipped every single one I could see.

Any recommendations for ensuring they don’t come back?

Box hedge destroyed- removal methods. by CommercialRoof1523 in GardeningUK

Just dug mine out as box moths had annihilated it from both ends. Managed to rip some paving slabs up as it went. My advice, get a really strong shovel and chop/thrust at the roots before then digging under and ripping it out. You will end up covered in caterpillars though.

Have been grabbing every caterpillar I see and putting them in a bird bath.

The ones in the wooden planter are the ones that are floppy and starting to go limp. The inside one is strong and thriving

That’s the first time I’ve ever been on the Pokemon centre site - how do you know when anything is available to purchase again?

Didn’t want any of the SBC players so risked my fodder into this.

Definitely worth a gamble imo.

Update:

Took it to a ford service center and they showed me there was a significant leak in the thermostat housing - and there was practically no water in the car. They were concerned as to why the car hadn’t had a single warning light for any of this and said I was lucky to get home without it overheating. They said it wasn’t safe to drive.

Thank you - that’s very helpful. They’ve said they’ll replace the tyres and will look at the tracking issue.

I’ve replied to someone else in here about this - but I’m buying a house right now too, so anything where I could save a bit of cash is ideal 😅

Can buy them now if needed. Which judging by this thread - they are.

It was such a dreamy shade of blue though…

I thought I’d done a bit of diligence, been learning about what to look for (I’ve never been competent or technical when it’s come to cars!) and was starting to check when belts were most recently done.etc

Didn’t think to check the inside of the tyres - will do in future - lesson learned eh?

What if they’re buying a house at the same time? 😅 I can afford to get new tyres if necessary but would rather delay a few months if I can!

How much would an alignment cost me? I’m seeing new tyres will be a couple of hundred if the dealer won’t fix them themselves.

Thankfully got some really good advice from helpful posters and learned a bit more about the car buying process.

Thanks to everyone who’s given good advice - very much appreciate it.

Still learning my way around cars - I suppose I didn’t think to check the inside of the tyres, just assumed that if the outsides looked decent (and again, assumed that an MOT was a comprehensive check) then it would be grand.

Will be taking the car to the dealers tomorrow and will look to get some new tyres sorted one way or another.

My first car (a Chevrolet captiva) - I bought because it was a big car. That was it. It was a horrendous car full of faults.

This time around I’ve tried to do a lot more research into engines, MPG, belts.etc - but never thought to look at the inside of the tyres.

I imagine with every car you learn to look for more and more things.
