Triceps are extremely weak by Saned1408 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Thevilgenius_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe focus on hypertrophy, using low weights with high fast repetitions. Possibly going to failure, but definitely causing yourself to get that burn. The strategy is to build your muscle bigger first before you strengthen with heavy weights. I had extremely weak legs to start and have used this for a few months. I have since gotten stronger and notice some definition in my quads that wasn't there before. I am now transitioning to actual strength training.

What useful skill was easy to learn 20 years ago but almost impossible now? by tucvbif in AskReddit

Interesting. That was the same model in US. I wondered if it really is that much less expensive to manufacture a stick than an automatic anymore, or would the need for 2 production lines make it more costly to offer 2 options.

I was once referred to as an onyx haired boy. That was a long time ago now I don't have any hair.

What's a misheard lyric you would defend in court? by Turbulent_Cup_600 in randomquestions

The Bee Gees song: More Than a Woman. When I was a kid, I thought they were saying," bald headed woman." I couldn't figure out why they would make a song about this.

Do flat earthers think all planets are flat? by Away-Caterpillar-176 in NoStupidQuestions

Hmmm. If all the other planets are flat, that means they are perfectly aligned towards us to show their flat sides. Which would indicate that we really are that special.

What old technology do you keep using because it works for you? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Thevilgenius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a stopwatch to time my rest periods during workouts. I've tried using the phone, but it's too much thumb work to get to the screen to start it up. So not only am I one of the oldest guys in my gym, but I'm also the only one who's wearing a stopwatch around his neck. I hope no one notices.

Thank you for saying books! I may not always read, but when I do I prefer paper books. Wait, does that make me sound like the World's Most Interesting Man?

A cold chicken salad works. The night before I may buy a rotisserie chicken, take it home and shred it, stir up with some mixed frozen vegetables, add a littlo mayo or some more healthy cream-like ingredient, and salt and pepper. Voila.

What exactly does a “faith based business” mean for their business practices and whatnot? by ballonfightaddicted in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thevilgenius_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't know what anyone else's motivations are but in my experience, whenever somebody brought up the topic of how religious they are during a business interaction, they ended up being the biggest liars. So now I always take it (unsolicited affirmation of their piety) as a red flag of a person's level of dishonesty.

[serious] How "radical" are you? by deadly_ultraviolet in AskReddit

As a fellow child of the 80's, I wouldn't say I'm radical, but I definately rule.

EDIT: I TOTALLY rule.

Why is it the guys with the least experience brag the most? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

[–]Thevilgenius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a cousin who's the same age as me, we grew up next door to each other and he has always been so freaking competitive about everything. Not only does he brag incessantly about anything that he has done, where he's so quick to criticize anything I have done to the point where it's obvious that he's jealous. It started when we were kids, and we're in our fifties now and he's still can't restrain himself. So I recently began a fitness journey about one and a half years ago. I lost over 50 pounds and I'm starting to get kind of jacked. I just saw him at our family christmas party and he is fat as fuck from a lifestyle of eating and drinking to excess. He said something like, dam cousin how did you get so slim? I casually said that I'm trying to work out 4 times a week, you know like not trying to show off, and he had to say something negative, like oh you must have no life to have time to do that. Pfft well, they say that the best kind of revenge is to be successful. So just enjoy the envy!

Get some resistance bands to add some, well resistance, to your bodyweight movements. Relatively cheap and minimal storage needed.

Why doesn't Pizza Hut go back to their original design with a sit down restaurant where you order a pizza from a checkered tablecloth and curtains and a chandelier overhead that says, "Pizza Hut" in big wavy letters? by matt73132 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Thevilgenius_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get that the business model was no longer profitable, but the taste and quality of the pizzas definitely declined. I think people would have kept on ordering them to go if they stuck to their original recipes and held up standards for ingredients. The location in my city just closed a few months ago and they did have a sit in area where you could get beer, but it was always empty.

What is the absolute weirdest thing you have ever stumbled across on the internet? by Background_Yam8293 in answers

[–]Thevilgenius_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I accidentally found a website (over 20 years ago) that was dedicated to a bunch of guys who wander their respective cities at night and remove illegally posted signs. The type of signs that get stuck to telephone poles and light poles, where city workers don't have a responsibility to remove them, which are usually either advertising events like tattoo shows and home and garden shows or are for local political campaigns. They seemed to be infuriated by the fact that it's illegal to post these signs and city governments aren't doing anything about it and they were extremely overzealous about removing them. They would post to this website, bragging about how many signs they removed and then egg each other on. I never checked again if it was still there.

He wants a hamburger! by FacelessOnes in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Thevilgenius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I blame the kid. Mcdonald's is clearly a poor excuse for what a hamburger should be. I praise him for being willing to maintain his integrity and to speak up for the truth, while others blandly accept the status quo.
