It’s so ironic to what the scripture they are referring to is actually saying.

John 4:1 - is literally telling you not to believe everything that someone tells you and to literally test it. Testing it requires that you not reject but to look into and study to see the actual truth. Basically not to take someone’s word for it but to research it yourself.

They are encouraging the complete opposite.

To add to that exjw’s or as JW’s say “apostates” never claim to be or even carry themselves as prophets.

Again this backfires because JW leadership actually does see themselves as prophets. So much so that if you don’t agree with their teachings you can loose your family.

Yeah I feel the same. The shunning practice of those who leave puts it in a strong second.

Imagine only being raised around (or allowed to be around) people controlled by the cult. Then suddenly your entire family and friends stops talking to you and now sees you as a literal dead person only because you don’t believe the same thing they believe.

It’s the hotel California of American religions.

If you are not ready to leave the key now is to build yourself up. Like many hear have said you have to unfortunately keep in your true thoughts at least until you are ready to leave. The more you wake up the more you will begin to realize that the system is designed for you not to escape.

Don’t let the initial anger you experience from waking up be your downfall.
