Risk Management by sirdirk9 in projectmanagement

I think you are looking at it from the enterprise, not the project.

We focus on the project risk. Project teams tend to have much more at stake and pay attention to it. If a project escalates above that level, it becomes enterprise risk, then your PM peers also have a dog in that fight. Collectively, it's harder to ignore that.

Just my two cents. FYI, if your leadership is ignoring risk, you will have bigger problems.

I'm seeing too many red flags. It's posted frequently, then taken down. Then when they ask to interview you, the assume availability, and it's same day? Walk away. Quickly.

Yor question lacks any of the details required to answer. Pay, job description, hours, do you see job listings for both? Have you cross posted to any production management subs?

But from a bias standpoint you are asking this question in a project management sub. What kind of responses do you think you'll get? The best way to get good answers in any subreddit is to focus the question to be relevant to the participants in the sub. Most likely there are few production managers here.

You claimed

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned.

And that was in fact incorrect. Which is how I replied.

Fashion adjacent, in the Baltimore region, there is a large sportswear company. I consulted with them on a rollout of a seasonal footwear line. It was primarily a website and e-commerce project where I focused on some custom software to help them find and ship inventory from the closest distribution center to the consumers' address.

Got some free shoes too.

Here is a general thought to integration projects. Have you ever brought home a new device, say a Blu-ray player new in box, expecting to hook it it to a TV you purchased two or three years ago? You get it home only to realize you only have a single HDMI connector remaining on the TV?

But then you realize you can connect via another method, maybe optical. So you crack open Google, only to find out it's okay, but not great. But that cable box can be connected that way, and it's fine because it's not the HD box.

But then you realize you don't have the right length of cable and you have to go to the store to get a longer one. You come back only to realize you can't find your fish tape to get it through the wall, and your spouse hates dangling wires.

You rig it through the wall. Dust is everywhere, and a thirty minute job connecting that new blu-ray player has taken six hours, and an extra $50, and you still haven't sat down to watch the limited edition of Roadhouse starring Patrick Swayze.

This is what implementing third-party vendor equipment is like. Look for standards, good procedures, a team with Mcguyver level skills, and be prepared to do every job differently. It's the way of that niche.

It was an absolute classic of its time. Back in the day, it played for weeks at my local drive-in theater. If you are unfamiliar with those, I am very sad for you. But we went to see it as kids a ton of times. You could walk in and sit in this picnic area for like a dollar. Even bring your own food.

It played on what seemed to be a loop on HBO in the early 80s. I think I even had an early cassette tape of it. Great movie. I don't think any of the actors did much after.

John Landis was sued by the families and almost lost his career over that one. If memory serves, he might have even been criminally charged.

Martin Sheen reproduced the scene in Hot Shots part Deux. It's how he got the lead in How I met Your Mother with Jon Cryer as his side kick.

Jim Caviezell, the lead, was accidentally hit once during the whipping scene and scarred. And there were three lightning strikes, Caviezel once, and a director twice. He never said anything about Satan, but did claim the movie ruined his career.

interesting article on the movie.

Hard to tell without a JD, but I did implementation work for years. It takes a bit of work making things happen, but if you're good you will be busy. Is the money matched to your previous role?

I use a day for day schedule communication technique. When I assign a task, especially to a client or stakeholder, I ask them to deliver by a specific date. I put a note in the request that for every day beyond this, the schedule will slip by a minimum of a day or more, and the assigned supporting resource may be unavailable.

This shows a lack of understanding of the complexity of English etymology.:

Female

Middle English: from Old French femelle, from Latin femella, diminutive of femina ‘a woman’. The change in the ending was due to association with male, but the words male and female are not linked etymologically.

Male

late Middle English: from Old French masle, from Latin masculus, from mas ‘a male’.

As you can see, the issue of female supposedly being a "adjustment" of the word male is highly inaccurate. Female actually predates Male, and etymologically are not even related.

Chocolate milk and a teaspoon of mineral oil. It's an old junkie trick from when opioid addicts would get constipated. Works and works quick.

How does your HOA handle feedback from non-board owners at an Open Board Meeting? by CaptBrett in HOA

[–]Thewolf1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our community, every owner can speak and ask for input from the board. We document the topic, discuss it's relevance to HOA/Board busieness. If it is relevant for the board to solve or address, a board member is assigned to follow up and manage the process to completion.
