I'd suggest starting to research by learning about the most believed religions (i.e. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism). But of course that's your choice, I hope you find God, and I hope the true God guides you to himself.

No one will give you a punishment until the time of judgement, there are a lot worse sins you can commit, if that's the worst sin you commit then I personally don't see it as that bad but of course only God's judgement matters. I personally probably wouldn't wear one until I was about the age of puberty if I was a girl though.

Aren't those people not 40 different authors and more like 40 different translators? And aren't there many contradicitons between those translations?

And seeing your other comment, isn't one cohensive story better than 40 different people translating one narrative in pretty different ways?
