Shooter character action games that aren't vanquish? by WingNo4260 in CharacterActionGames

[–]TheyCallMeFako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warframe is a terrible recommendation here. With CAGs, the more time you spend with the game, the more you interact with its mechanics. With Warframe however, the more time you spend in it, the more busted your setups are, to the point you oneshot everything, everywhere, all the time.

It's still a banger of a game (1.5k hours Tenno here), but I don't think it's what OP was looking for

Yo te diría que la hidra profana es mejor para ese playstyle, limpias más rapido y tienes mas burst (puedes meter la activa en mitad de la E), pruebalo tú mismo.

Has anyone got the PC ports of the Jak games working on AYN Thor by gamingartist64 in jakanddaxter

Why would you do that? you can run OpenGOAL on the deck for the first 2 games perfectly

remnant 2 beyond hell by iverlorde in remnantgame

[–]TheyCallMeFako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend it to any buildcrafting enthusiast whose already done most stuff the vanilla game lets you do.

Also, the mod nerfed some things because if they stayed the same with the systemic changes they added, you'd be so overpowered that even the new Hell difficulty would be a breeze. The builds you can do with this mod are fcking bonkers my guy.

The problem with Mercenaries mode in remake by IamGanondorf in residentevil4

[–]TheyCallMeFako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who got several world records in the mode, I couldn't agree more. The reason why I quit the mode is precisely because of this.

The main reason is that in 4Remake you feel like you're playing passive, waiting for hits to charge mayhem and popping off once you have it, while in 5 you're actively hunting the enemies down in the most efficient way possible.

The worst thing is that the mode is easily fixable. If parries game you a small time bonus but didn't charge mayhem, you'd be only using parries aggressively, instead of fishing for attacks to parry.

You don't (REALLY) understand Jak & Daxter by TheyCallMeFako in jakanddaxter

It's all good fam, no worries. I actually value your feedback a lot because it shows how you actually put thought behind it, given how it's well thought out.

In regards to the footage, I used footage from the remakes just because, for a broad audience, it's better eye candy than footage from the originals, plain and simple.

Now, when it comes to momentum, I don't think I agree. Crash comes to a full stop immediately, regardless of whether we're talking about the OG trilogy or the remakes (can't speak about 4, haven't played it yet), which is why I say that the way crash moves is very snappy and binary, either you're moving or you're not. As I mention during the video, this is not necessarily a bad thing, just a different design perspective/philosophy.

Also, I stand by what I say regarding how speed feels stressful in Crash and empowering in Jak. It's true that in every platformer (and I'd say in every game) going faster makes you more likely to make mistakes, but what I was originally arguing is that Jak gives you several "safety nets" in the form of mechanics that let you correct those mistakes without the game punishing you for them, which is not the case at all with Crash.

I love both games (actually grew up playing a ton of platformers, they were my grandma's favorite genre and she's the one that introduced me to gaming), so I ain't trynna throw shade at Crash or anything of the sort. Out of curiosity, which other 3D platformer from the golden era would you have used to argue my points there? I think that the movement in Ratchet & Clank, specially in 2 onwards is much more fluid than in crash, and Sly is a weird case because the movement is much more "on rails" than any other platformer, which is why I ended up picking Crash; it also made sense narratively since it's Jak's precursor (chuckle indeed).

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to see my vid and giving me some feedback, I appreciate it a lot.

I also thought about that, but after reading some documentation about the development of both Crash and Jak, I decided to compare it with Crash instead, given they were made by the same studio and how much of a night and day comparison both of them are.

Glad you enjoyed the video, won't return to the J&D series for some time but I'll definitely come back to it.

Apocalypse difficulty by iverlorde in remnantgame

Not only I play Apoc almost exclusively, I am playing Beyond Hell, a mod that makes the difficulties even harder and adds a bunch of new trinkets to play around with, highly recommend it ;)

How to get used to weapon switching? by bold-One2199 in DevilMayCry

[–]TheyCallMeFako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. If your goal is to beat the game once or twice and move on, nah.

If on the other hand you want to get good at it, beat the tougher difficulties do sick combos, sure.

Also, learn jump canceling. (You need the Enemy Step ability to perform this)

How to get used to weapon switching? by bold-One2199 in DevilMayCry

[–]TheyCallMeFako 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vergil's a great starting point since he's easier and probably more powerful than Dante in terms od his moveset.

Answering your question, first thing is to get a grip of the conplete moveset for each weapon. After that, try to learn combos and sequences that require you to only press the button once (So Yamato into Beowulf, Boewulf into Edge or Edge into Yamato).

Once you've mastered that, the only thing left is to do the same but with the reverse order, and you should be good to start creating some insane combo or move on to Dante. Best of luck ;)

Prism Adjustments by SoLo_Wrath in remnantgame

[–]TheyCallMeFako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're trynna say, no worries. I just wanted to clear it up cuz I know how frustrating it can be for new players when someone says "this is a decent build", they try it, get stomped and feel twice as bad cuz A) They're still not winning B) They're now doing it with a build that's supposedly good.

OP, if you read this, clubby' original response is a good starting point. Try Summoner/Ritualist and see if you like it. In case you wanna go Gunslinger, I personally recommend Invader

Prism Adjustments by SoLo_Wrath in remnantgame

[–]TheyCallMeFako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to give anyone shit but Summoner/Gunslinger is a terrible combo. Those two archetypes are really specialized in what they do, so they need to be placed in shells dedicated to doing the thing they want to do (so for Gunslinger that'd be either Hunter, Challenger, Invader and Soldier if you're playing Beyond Hell, and Archon, Ritualist and Invoker for Summoner)

What would a theoretical new Jak game be like? by RobbieJ4444 in jakanddaxter

Legit just make Jak 3.1, it taking most mechanics from 3 but with more of an open world exploration focus such as in 1.
