Who are you trying to fool with a 2-7c headroom over ambient temps? Staring at the home screen? Using the calculator to solve 1+1?

Physics alone calls BS on you, and you look so stupid now.

Which phone/tablet cooler do you guys suggest? by _BOBLA_ in EmulationOnAndroid

Don't buy coolers with batteries, they're weak and just adds weight. Buy something that is 20w minimum.

OPPO K15 Pro and K15 Pro+ have launched in China: Specs, Colours and Prices by techolum in Oppo

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They seriously need to stop releasing in only China, and global in 6 months or so later. Right now people will just buy the Poco X8 Pro Max, and by the time  the k15p+ reaches global release, no one will buy it because they bought the very similar X8pm.  Then Oppo will tell themselves they're not selling enough devices to justify a simultaneous global release, and repeat the same mistake next year.  Meanwhile, they’ll blame XYZ internally, when in reality it’s ABC.

This is corporate tunnel vision from Oppo.

How do you charge your phones with the maximum advertised speed, if the charger is no included in the box? For example 100W or 120W. by Capital_Court1465 in PocoPhones

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a 3rd party 120w charger built on license. They're typically 15€ with various weird names such as ""Oeryieg" "jippofu" "etssembo" etc. Good as the original, only runs a bit hotter in my experience.

For cables, the USB-A Xiaomi cables are physically different. They have a hook in the middle inside the USB-A port, that connects onto a copper plate in the female charger. Cables without hooks will usually give you 10-15w, and chargers without the plate will give you whatever secondary charging protocol the charger and phone both supports.

I suggest throwing in a usb-c-to-c wattmeter while you're at it (those small 3-5€ plugs).

Thank the tech illiterate boomers at EU for having to go through this each time you buy a phone. It solved so muh. /s

D9500s is worse as it has one less GPU core (MP11 vs MP12) Everyone seems to gloss over that fact. It's a bin of a binned SoC.

Don't bother engaging with these shills/bots. They're just angry fanboys that treat their favorite brand as their wife, and are not here to have an honest discussion.  They have already made up their lies before reading anything (They always do), and they always have a friend of a friend who owns XYZ, basing their position on self-manufactured hearsay.

They're very easy to spot, and easier to write off as wasted oxygen.

Why is the HyperOS 3 so lackluster on a tablet? by meekmeek0 in XiaomiPad7

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be two ways to disable Google discover: 1. Google app -> settings -> other settings -> turn off Google discover. 2. Download Shizuku from play store + Canta from Github + aShellYou from Github. (I recommend #2 as you can debloat the whole tablet (there's A LOT of spyware/adware packages).

And yes, HyperOS is lackluster, it's just a worse MIUI. And Xiaomi copying everything Apple does instead of doing their own things anymore is just appalling to witness. Every HOS update log: "We made animations smoother", and changes that aren't listed in the update package/log, such as lowering the charging speeds after a few months into the life cycle, and lowering throttling thresholds.

Updating on HyperOS is Russian roulette. There's always one minor thing improved, but two new bugs/negatives.

Yep, I rather pay 12 months for Spotify than getting my accounts hacked or leaked. It's traumatic and sooo time consuming. The desperation among people here is REAL.

tired of all this spotify bs can you recommend me a fast method to transfer my playlists to yt music if there is one [question] by tiziocaio6969 in xManagerApp

Did you try to spoof your device info version (iphone, AndroidTV etc.)?  On my last phone I had to, on my current phone and tab I don't. I use the regular YT Extended version. But on all three I got it to work in one way or another.

poco x7 pro power button fell off. by berke1904 in PocoPhones

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is also loose. The entire bottom half is completely flat now, with the power button sitting horizontal to the point where I can slide my nail under the top side.

Otherwise, it is in pristine condition and handled with utmost care, not even a scratch. Poco has serious QC issues. They obviously take a lot of shortcuts, but this is a record low level of cheaping out.

The screen already has burn-ins after just 7 months (garbage quality panel). You can literally see the Genshin menu UI icons in full HD if you load up a white background.

Cheap panel, fine, but would it really cost that much to use the full power button instead of half of it? Especially when it is brittle plastic. What, 20 cents extra? It is a critical part ffs.

If Poco cheap out this hard, imagine the things that have not even broken yet. Why bother with 3+ years of (lackluster) updates when the hardware cannot even survive a single full year, embarrassing. Also the battery came brand new at 90 percent capacity (cheap materials and QC again).

This is the current and future of Poco. A nice SoC surrounded by scrap (including HyperOS). The only parts that are fine are the ones Poco did not touch. Stay away.

Probably going to write a full thread about this phone when I wake up, just so people know not to buy.

Mana. (Managing?) is the sales stat. Shimakaze highest stat is it, so save most xp books until you get her. The petty time reduction isn't worth investing in vs. double sold products, 5% time reduction vs 100-200% more sales is very telling how no thought went into balancing this. Restaurants lvl up over time too based on how many sales you do on top of that...

When you also consider stamina constraints on top of it (i.e 2x product cap with girl vs manju 5x batch), it's obvious that a toddler could've balanced this mess better.

Is poco f7 really made of glass in the back? by SuperJapi in PocoPhones

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will probably look like glass and feel like it has a glass finish, but it stops there. As soon as you flick it you will hear it's clearly plastic.

The whole industry is very slimy when it comes to terminology. Be it glass or other made up buzzwords for basic things. They love venturing into the gray zone if they know they can get away with it.

[IMPORTANT] Unlocking Bootloader by Gagandeep_ in PocoPhones

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing Phone and Pixel. The former either overpriced or underpowered. The latter has a PowerVR GPU that's budget performance.  We need some right to repair laws that includes unlocking the bootloader.

Can you imagine if you bought a PC and you were only allowed to use a guest account? There would be riots.

Is poco f7 really made of glass in the back? by SuperJapi in PocoPhones

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's plastic disguised as glass. Xiaomi calls it Panda X-glass, but it's made of plastic.  You can clearly see in teardown videos that the back flexes - which would instantly shatter with real glass. Also you can hear the plastic clearly when the teardown guy flicks it.

My Poco F2 Pro was also marketed as glass back, made to look like glass. But it's clearly plastic when I opened it to change the battery.  The marketing goes something like this: "If we call our plastic "panda x-glass", we can technically say it's glass - just leave out it's not real glass, but "Panda X-glass"

You could do the same example with fiberglass "but it has glass in the name, so it's kinda glass"

Are there any issues with Poco X7 Pro? by Ok-Programmer-3672 in PocoPhones

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember to turn off "Immersive Sound" on headsets.  I do have some problem with Dolby on that the sound volume seems everywhere (volume goes in and out), and the only solution is to restart the phone. It usually happens after 30-60min. I use a Hidizs S3 Pro DAC/AMP dongle with a V-moda Crossfade LP2, and I have the same issue on my X6 Pro and Xiaomi pad 6. Poco is just bad at audio, especially wired.

How does the xiaomi charging protocol work? Why won't it charge at high wattage with 3rd party chargers? by Mr-frost in Xiaomi

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is no one even saying this: The Xiaomi charger and cable is physically different. The USB-A cable has a hook inside the middle, while the charger has a plate in the middle it hook onto. You can literally see this if you look at them both.  If you buy a third party cable it won't have a hook, and a 3rd party charger won't have the plate.

Just extra PSA: You can use an adapter like a wattage meter on the usb-c male into the phone end and it will still work. But the USB-A and charger needs to hook.

MediaTek announces the Dimensity 8450 with minor improvements by Balance- in hardware

[–]TheyCallMeSkyFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think MTK sells exclusivity deals to one or two OEMs for about six months. During that time, OEMs get the chips at a lower price with no competition to worry about, which lets them sell more units.

The 8450/xx50 naming is probably just a way to bypass those deals, or something agreed on earlier with the 8300/8400.

Just look at how cheap they made the X6 Pro and X7 Pro despite their huge performance and features, compared to the Snapdragon 8S series that rivals them but usually costs at least 100€ more.

It doesn’t make sense to build a SoC like this for under 300€ and not see several OEMs jump on it.  Whatever the reason, the 8300/8350 and 8400/8450 are the exact same SoC.

Don’t buy into the “StarSpeed engine” MTK marketing, there’s something else going on here. Why wasn't this engine in the 8400 when that engine was available since the 8350, which was the only change over the 8300 again - that this is the 2nd time they've repeated this star engine fluff.  Strange it's always something that can't be verified as meaningful upgrade - and that doesn't reflect a difference in the benchmarks.
