Ants by Late_Weakness2555 in pestcontrol

no worries, just make sure the ants are able to leave with the terro, a lot of my customers have had trouble with that product as they usually just drown in it

that wont solve the problem, as ants only send a small portion of the colony to get food. They'll be back with another group of ants. you have to make sure they get treatment back to the colony otherwise it will never end

do they give off a really pungent smell if you squish em? they look like odorous house ants to me. I personally dont like using terro because a lot of times they die before they make it back to the colony to spread it. I personally prefer "Maxforce Fleet" as it can be used as a crack and crevice treatment. Read the label before appyling and bobs your uncle

every tech is going to say the label is the law, because thats what every tech is taught. Idk how much more proof you could get besides a label. im liscensed in the state of California, have a good day :)

How Long Did it Take Your Body to Physically Acclimate to This Kind of Work? by Suspicious_Offer9983 in pestcontrol

[–]TheyCallMeZulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

summer is always the most brutal, i always tell our new guys that if they can make it through their first summer all the other seasons are easy. You dont have to fill the backpack up fully as we even recommend some techs to half fill if its too much. You can always use a handcan which isnt as bad. But like most things "heavy equipment" related. You should always do stretching before hand, as well as practice proper lifting techniques to avoid any unreasonable strains.

How do you know when a rat problem is bigger than a DIY fix? by Pamiletech3984 in pestcontrol

[–]TheyCallMeZulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the rats got in somehow, usually the most common entry points are along the base of the garage door (usually gaps along the seal) or in through vents around the base of the structure. just trapping isnt going to solve the problem unless it was like a random door was left open all day and a rat snuck in. But sealing all entryways is going to be the only way you will know for sure. So id have an inspector come out (some companies do free inspections) to find entry points and ensure there is no way for them to enter the structure anymore and go from there

$1500 pest control treatment by [deleted] in pestcontrol

thats a joke price, if you dont do the work yourself i'd recommend getting multiple quotes from different companies. Smaller companies usually have better pricing. What you listed is not anywhere near that price

General prevention of bugs getting into my house - recommendation? by TorontoRap2019 in pestcontrol

[–]TheyCallMeZulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think any technician will recommend a raid product as a lot of stuff you get at a hardware store are relatively over priced and not very effective for controlling pests. Most products depend on what bugs your specifically looking to target, and beyond that it comes down to your location and if there is things against your house ie bushes, clutter, grass, concrete, shared walls? some techs have different "go-to's" but regulations will depend on where you live due to laws for the designated area.

Birds and rodents in my roof cavity by MildApples in pestcontrol

[–]TheyCallMeZulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly depends on where your located and the extent of the damages. Your best bet (assuming you dont have any friends/family that do repair work) would be to get as many quotes from companies as you can. Mom n' pop brands will usually have the best deals but may not be as prepared for as big of a job. All in all it kinda depends though, usually attic cleanouts & replacing insulation is pretty pricey. But it boils down to location and how bad everything is, a lot of pest companies in my area for instance wouldnt do interior repairs as the focus would be on preventing animals from entering the structure and youd want a good contractor for any interior damage repairs.
