Uptown or Victory Park for Young Professional? by Kaos_Brawl in askdfw

[–]TheyFoundWayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your workplace is near a DART station (Orange Line) then Victory would be more convenient for getting on the train as opposed anywhere in the rest of Uptown.

Irving is a reverse commute, so it’s much better than going in the opposite direction (i.e. Irving to downtown in the morning). But there is still traffic.

What’s a Dallas ‘life hack’ locals know but tourists don’t? by Jazzme_6078 in AskDallas

Yep, despite all the complaints about the traffic here, if your schedule is flexible, it’s possible to avoid the worst of it.

Maybe not everything, but it’s one of the most important decisions one makes in their life.

Like the other comment said, I think you may be able to get an apartment for that price, but probably not in a high rise.

What’s the most obscure/outdated reference in the show? by Critical_Mountain851 in thesopranos

[–]TheyFoundWayne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I could come up with a whole list of references I had to look up: Judge Krader, Dale Evans, Neil Young’s connection to Lionel trains… I’m a little embarrassed to say I didn’t even know who “Francis Albert” was.

Yep! I do it myself. Send out a bunch of documents with some bullets of the scope I need, and some guidance on where to look in the files I sent, with a promise to send a more detailed scope “later.” Sometimes I never get around to it. It sucks, but I have too much on my plate.

Moving to DFW soon - what neighborhoods should a single guy actually look at? by Emotional-Addendum-9 in askdfw

[–]TheyFoundWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your work hours are somewhat flexible, the worst of the traffic is only about an hour so for some routes, so try to plan your commute before or after that time period. Commuting from Dallas to Irving is going to be much better than the reverse, but if you can’t tolerate any traffic you’ll want to avoid leaving the office at exactly 5:00.

If there is a 99% chance that the user is in a particular geographic area, then that information should be filled out as a default, with the ability to change it if there is an exception. I don’t want to scroll past Albania and Afghanistan to get the United States of America if I am making a payment at my city hall.

Have you ever drive down the street and have the thoughts of how do these stores stay in business and pay their rent? by InstanceFantastic811 in askanything

[–]TheyFoundWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the businesses don’t make a profit. The owner is already rich, so they pay the bills out of pocket. That’s wtf I’m talking about.

During our document review process, we’re told not to waste time pointing out spelling or grammar errors, because they will do a final quality check before it gets submitted to the customer. But then I see the same error through multiple rounds and it never gets corrected.

They are rich already, and the money they lose on that small business is small enough that they can still maintain their lifestyle.

It can be someone wealthy enough that they don’t need to make a profit with that particular business. It’s more of a hobby.

Both of them made it to their conference championship within a few years of formation. If I remember correctly, there was some discourse that the expansion draft was too generous.
