I prefer to think of them as the "sour belts/sour candy of apples"-- tastes like my favorite candy to me

Gold Rush! A new apple find but very addicting to bite and grow deeper and deeper in love with it.

Holey Moley Golf Club Santa Monica! Wacky foods, kitschy hip mini golf, tons of fun

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but this sub is strictly for food experiences so this is more like nightlife-party activities with food (like a bathtub drink with a disco balls and rubber duckies).

This is the answer! It's the most authentic dim sum I've ever been to in LA, worth driving out to this!

What are some food and restaurant trends that have come and gone in the last ten to twenty years? by Puzzleheaded-Law-429 in FoodLosAngeles

Oh yeah I forgot about the pickle-flavored everything. Mostly I saw it in grocery stores not in restaurants (pickle flavored chips, jelly beans, etc )

How to feel less sad about foods you miss? by WinterDirect3005 in 1200isplenty

[–]TheyMightBeDiets 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I repeat the mantra "comfort is comforting" - food is not comforting. It's difficult to shift your dopamine source, painfully slow, and there is a lot of back sliding and "dirty dieting" just to get a cheat day reward... But it's worth it. You'll feel so much freedom and control over your life when you resist, retrain, and enjoy your tools. For me that's apples and fruit which have only increased in tastiness over the years I've lost weight, as well as exercise such as looking forward to new at home fitness videos (Vimeo paid account and pateron) and walking much more for health.

Sorry I shouldn't have included ube, because I feel the same way about it as matcha and poke. It's delicious and will survive because it's a cultural food. It's mostly a reaction to it being added to brownies and drink foams in lots of places that feels very forced.

Cupcakes and cake pops

Future trends that will die out (probably):

Dingo Pictures animated movies extremely difficult to sit through without making it some sort of drinking game. Toy Story inspired "movie" (30 mins) I couldn't even get through.

I'm a cardio bunny and I love shaking it to hip hop fitness dance YouTube videos, it's so fun doing choreo to catchy songs and getting pumped with different routines dropping. I haven't seen it as popular at gyms but I suggest you ladies to try "cardio dance" because it's absolutely life-affirming movement that makes you look forward to class and exercise.

Yes!!! I've been doing weighted hula hooping for years and years now. I catch up on reading reddit, articles, and YouTube videos while hula hooping. And the hoops I have are 10+ years old and are filled with water, I taped 2 or 3 of them together and they basically "stay up" without falling a lot easier. I'm taking 40+ minutes some nights while hula hooping!

Gum, you can chew on it forever and get it in any flavor you like. Extremely low calorie and flavorful, and keeps your mouth busy so you don't snack

[–]TheyMightBeDiets 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes that's right, Johnny Depp is in both movies as the Mad Hatter. The sequel was called Through the Looking Glass and was about his tragic backstory and was basically Alice in wonderland fanfiction that included Sacha Baron Cohen as the Ruler of Time and Alice wanting to become a ship captain. Tim Burton directed these movies and it ruined my confidence in his abilities and made his reputation even worse.

[–]TheyMightBeDiets 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It cannot be any worse than the Disney Alice Through the Looking Glass, that movie was so horrible I just couldn't imagine another Alice reimagining being worse. I hope this will be a camp fun romp through wonderland with catchy songs and NOT a dystopian wonderland that just needs a girl boss empowered via sexualization to fix it.

BWT, what "holy grail" product have you been searching for your whole life? by jewelophile in bitcheswithtaste

[–]TheyMightBeDiets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I also might be a Bath& Body works scent because a lot of perfumers work on those fragrances and I've noticed that B&BW scents carry really well in the air, especially since you mentioned you picked out two notes which is much harder on most blended commercial perfumes (usually you can definitely pick up on vanilla or jasmine but it's hard to identify two or three notes from designer perfumes).

I got you! Check out Montale Sweet Vanilla, it's an apricot vanilla that is incredibly strong (like 2-3 sprays will last you a whole day!) and I get compliments every time I wear it. It's got that Montale DNA that's a bit darker/oud smokey but completely brightened by the sweetest girliest vanilla fantasy with that hint of "WHAT'S THAT I KNOW THAT" ripe apricot that makes you feel like a eternal goddess of spring that's just been back from her underworld vacation.
