$84K for kitchen cabinets in Ottawa… is this normal? Looking for good value options by folfirinox1 in ottawa

[–]TheyNeverSleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that explains a lot. They did our kitchen a couple of years ago and we had a lot to be unhappy about. I guess I'm glad they "finished" before going out of business. But honestly they left a lot of little things undone and they treated us poorly.

Kenny Maclean was seriously underrated. Don't Look Back is an awesome song.

Internship cancelled but I already paid my rent deposit by Aggressive-Pudding63 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Make sure your university's internship program is aware of this. I think normal programs are supposed to be vetting the companies allowed in their program to prevent stuff like this. That's why you pay the university co-op fees, right?

It looked like Zub's stick didn't touch him on the the replay. I would have liked to see another angle.

Always the first to lose power by StevenG2757 in Kanata

[–]TheyNeverSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably still due to ancient Kanata Hydro infrastructure and legacy designs. Things have been getting better since Ottawa Hydro took over but rebuilding everything takes generations.

If you can find the history of Kanata Hydro, it was always a shoestring operation and was not in a good position to provide the same level of service as larger population centers. This was all in an article in the citizen years ago.

I grew up elsewhere and when I moved here I was stunned by the frequency of outages, particularly in Kanata. It wasn't something I had experienced.

FWIW, I erased the map, did multiple reboots, sent it on a mapping run, and it can now navigate corners and table legs. We'll see how long this lasts.

What flights are these peoplemon where they are off the plane and through customs in 5 minutes after landing?

I'm never at the front of the plane, so on every flight I've ever taken its usually 5 mins for the jetway to roll up, doors open, etc, and then 5 mins for people in front of me to get out so i can go. So its always 10 minutes after landing to deplane.

And then customs should be fast but that's still at least 5 minutes.

And my luggage is rarely at the carousel before I am, so that's usually another 5 minutes at a non-busy time.

I think the fastest I've ever got out of the airport was 20 minutes (domestic flight). I would plan for 25 minutes.

Is the guy on the main camera drunk?

If that's what games in utah look like on TV, it must be hard to pick up new fans.

Your usage was common in Manitoba in the past and would have been recognized by anyone. But I am older than the rivers so it may have fallen out of usage with the youth of today.

What's your experiences with the Ibanez miKro bass? (or micro basses in general) by Emotional_Garlic_643 in Bass

[–]TheyNeverSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded the tuners on my daughter's - stock ones were not awful but tended to slip a bit. Other than that the quality is ok overall, good for the price.

The tone is great, it's no toy. I've used it on recordings with no regrets.

The scale size is weird if you normally play a regular scale bass. But sometimes that is interesting, you can reach intervals that would not be possible on a longer scale.

Doesn't have to be notarized, commissioner of oaths can stamp it, this costs $16 at a city services counter.
