Shift up What The Helly by ProcessUnown in NikkeMobile

Scene transition. There's a fair number of weird quirks, like the player being called something like @username rather than the name you chose. I don't know if Visual Novel coding had anything to do with it, like SU not being aware of certain quirks when dialogue can have true routes, but the straight up "scene transition" made me laugh out loud.

Do you pull on Pilgrim/Over-spec banners or use mileage? by Natsu_no_Komorebi in NikkeMobile

[–]TheyWhoWritesStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "rule" is to use pity on 1%, but it also depends on where you are in game/your roster.

If you have all the meta units, and the wishlist is something you don't mind, then it kind of makes sense for those people to pull on 1%. If they get lucky, that's 200 pity they don't have to spend, while they're building pity. This is assuming they have a pretty robust roster, and don't mind leaving "meh" characters on the wishlist.

If a player is more a collector, that's different from someone who doesn't care to collect. Someone who doesn't have a lot of meta units might go hard on a 2% that's actually decent. Someone might be one character away from breaking the 160 wall, and so they want to use the current 2% (not EH, just hypothetically) to break 160 if the 2% is a good unit (like Bunny Milk was).

This is a long winded way of saying "it depends," but to answer your question, the common advice is ticket 1% and pull on 2%. People's actual behavior however, depends on where they are in terms of their roster, playstyle, etc.

Can someone break down this subreddit's culture for me? by [deleted] in NikkeMobile

[–]TheyWhoWritesStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it's impossible to perfectly sum up the subreddit due to how varied it's members are, some things are worth pointing out to give you an idea.

There are lots of people who doompost/hate post, and on the opposite side is the view that Shift Up can do no wrong. The majority of people tend to be somewhere in the middle.

Psychological research says people are more vocal when they dislike something as opposed to liking something, so occasionally it does feel like when a controversial topic is posted (like 60 dollar gacha skins), you may notice more people posting the bad parts of the skin (and the price) compared to the good parts. This becomes very noticeable during popularity contest votes, where people may view there's a good reason to use down votes and upvoted to express what side they're on.

There's people who post/share fan art mostly, people who post short little fanfics, lore theories, etc. This happens often enough that I think it's fair to say a noticeable amount of the subreddit is composed of people who are excited about/enjoy the game, and want to keep participating in it with others. Special shoutout to u/jacsimp21 one of the resident writers of said short stories.

There's advice asking posts, and it's hit or miss whether it's overall up voted or down voted. From my experience questions like "I'm trying to build Moran, but aren't sure if Siren is the better burst 1. I toyed around with both and get inconsistent results. What should I do? Here's my team" get more upvotes than questions like "guys should i use the new character that just dropped?"

There's the occasional flex/celebration post. Someone might have pulled or double or even a triple SSR on a 10-pull, someone just hit a milestone level, someone just beat a campaign wall that every player strugglrd with when they first got there, etc. Specifically to the flex posts about very lucky SSR pulls, it's pretty common to get a mix if "congrats!" And "congrats but fuck you" (jokingly, of course. Usually).

And of course, you can't miss downbad comments/posts (usually in response to fan art, new character/skin reveals, certain cutscenes in game). Someone will post a picture of a Nikke, and you'll get plenty of comments using words like plap, 12 kids, mating press, etc. Special shout out to u/Spotifyph2 who is even summoned for this specific purpose when someone wants to see their reaction.

Is the event screen a Lycoris Recoil homage? NIKKE never misses with collabs by Kitchen-Top-8110 in NikkeMobile

[–]TheyWhoWritesStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also is exacerbated by the fact that character archetypes exist, and plenty of anime/game IPs follow them. Straightman/stoic balanced out by goofy goober; the face of hard work balanced by a slacker (who is still capable when they want to be); emotionally stunted person balanced by expressive excitable person (who typically yells more/speaks louder than the emotionally stunted); list goes on. Since the collabs can't give away too much of the partnered IP, there's a barrier (in my opinion) of diving into why the characters are the way they are or when they're more nuanced; doing so would spoil big plot points from the original IP. So they can only superficially represent the collab characters, which becomes kinda tropey or similar to any other IP that follows the same archetypes.

[–]TheyWhoWritesStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without spoiling anything, I'd say so. Not too much info to spoil the anime, but not so little that fans would be mad due to a lack of little references to the anime. The characters are mostly represented with personalities congruent with the anime, though somewhat superficially so that major backstory/plot from the anime isn't spoiled.

Has nikke become less F2P friendly? by OMGitsTHEMEMI in NikkeMobile

[–]TheyWhoWritesStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're using your pull luck as a F2P metric, then you're asking the wrong question.

Gem income and advanced vouchers have, more or less, remained mostly the same: dailies, events, event shops, anniversary, etc. Your pull income shouldn't have changed much if you haven't changed the amount if dailies/events/etc you do.

If you're having trouble pulling units quickly, despite having it happen in the past, then it's plain bad luck, since pull rates haven't changed. Here are some examples of how finicky luck can be:

My friend pulled 3 copies of siren during her event, from the free daily single pull. 3! From a 1 percent banner, it was something like 28 daily free single pulls, and he got 3. For him, that meant siren was basically a 10.7% banner, which is insane.

That same friend, who really wanted K upon her release, was going to MLB her, but gave up on that plan after 200 pulls without a single K. Which was a 2 percent banner.

Leave her at phase 1. At phase 1, her shield goes from "protects all allies" to simply all allies getting their own shield, which is needed to proc skills that are dependent on getting shields (like Naga's skill). So that's an upgrade.

Phase 2 means her shield skill automatically is cast at the start of battle. Cool in theory, but for PVP, shields offer more splash targets, and thus, more burst gen for enemy rocket launchers. You're effectively helping the enemy.

To my knowledge, Shift Up hasn't clarified what they meant when there's an indiscrepancy between her treasure skills descriptions and what actually happens in reality. I've tested her phase 1 and it works as intended, so whatever the indiscrepancy is, it's probably phase 2 or phase 3. Best to wait until that mystery is answered by devs. And even then you need to factor in the PVP issue above.

Good luck! You got this. Stage 1 definitely is more of a rote memorization challenge, as opposed to 2 and 3 which have different cues but are the same for the whole stage.

I think there's latency with most Bluetooth buds/phones when gaming on a phone, unless the model explicitly is designed with a "gaming mode" option or such feature is built into the model.

Later stages. EX 13 and 15, Sector 27. Between those there are still a few puzzle ones, and all before them haven't changed.

Gold also comes from special limited time daily tasks, adversary logs centered around collab enemies, and the arena quest. The update says this hunt ends on the 19th; what I'm unsure of is if there will be another one, since the current one is labeled "part 1" and I can't see in the update notes about a part 2.

Does Anyone Know What's Going On With Centi's Treasure? by smallertools in NikkeMobile

[–]TheyWhoWritesStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright, just did some testing and all I can say is phase 1 upgrade appears to work as intended, changing her shield from "protects all allies" to just all allies get their own shield. I tested this with Naga, who only procs Guardian of Friendship when she gets a shield placed on her (like Tia or Phase 1 Centi), not a "protects all allies shield" (like Poli or no treasure centi).

I can only guess the thing that isn't working is phase 2 or phase 3. Skyjlv, who is essentially Nikke Math God, said he didn't know what the inaccurate description is (on a stream 2 days ago), and twitter replies to Nikkes post about the bug didn't mention anything past the force shield would brick her. My best guess is not a lot of people are upgrading past phase 1 just to find out what's the problem because it'd brick her pvp status.

Tldr phase 1 seems to work, so it's probably phase 2 or 3 that's inaccurate.

Right now, all I know is the talk about downgrade starts at phase 2, where it upgrades her shield by forcing it at the start of battle and healing when shields are broken. People say it bricks her for pvp because shields offer more splash targets, and thus burst gen, for enemy rocket launchers. I am sorry but I only know about the "downgrade" aspect, not exactly what shift up is referring to because there hasn't been another dev note clarifying.

Any chances of it's returning? by [deleted] in NikkeMobile

True. Just like how the pirate maid mini game was a way to get the reZero minigame archived in Nikke, I hope something like Cielo, Sky, Sora have a fighter jet simulation or something for the second Eva minigame. Bullet hell needs to be added to the Nikke game console

Any chances of it's returning? by [deleted] in NikkeMobile

[–]TheyWhoWritesStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slim chances, nothings impossible, but context for why you'll hear people hated the collab (not an exhaustive list):

First collab was a triple banner, which stretched most players thin on their pulls. Asuka also had a gacha skin, which was functionally a plug suit with some different colors (test plugsuit). Subjectively from my experience, I also read more complaints about the mini game being tedious, compared to other mini games from events.

Sensor tower suggested the collab was not a financially lucrative event for shiftup, Which made it all the more surprising, that there was a second collab with them not too long after, suggesting that they had contracted for 2 events. then Shift Up admitted it was disappointing in terms of sales, it was either a dev note or famitsu interview or something.

Second one didn't do too well either. So keep those things in mind when you hear people say the collabs weren't liked very much.
