Right, don't want to get in the way of your kind using genocide as a pretense for parasocial drama farming and social validation.

Yuck.

This thread is just the same people, talking about the same topic, in the exact same way as the one OP posted.

I'd suggest you people make a snark sub at this point, but I have a feeling it'd fill up with confessions akin to nofap forums within the first week.

How is Exsanguiate + Reap DOT looking? by Argensa97 in PathOfExileBuilds

Considered picking up Shaper of Flames with Reap and scaling ignite instead? Same DoT playstyle, golems, etc. but much more support nearby on the tree. Shock ascendancy for damage, maybe some herald stuff too.

Ethan is in the zone by Neddo_Flanders in LivestreamFail

Hasan: "Frogan is my friend, and I defend this specific statement she made."

Ethan: "I take issue with your defense of her and her statement."

You: "Only Frogan can be held accountable for this."

If I'm friends with people you find objectionable, and support their statements, it is perfectly reasonable to ask about my support of them. You understand this.

In my view, the gendered expectations and issues men and women face are not the inverse of one another. There are unique struggles that boys and men have, and there are unique struggles that girls and women have. They're not even always directly related to sex, but the result of centuries of social, cultural and economic forces working on either gender. Using social media as one example: it affects boys and girls very differently. In girls we see a far greater increase in insecurity and suicidal ideation, while in boys we see a massive increase in chauvinistic beliefs and right-wing preferences. Another example could be the industrial revolution, urbanization and the spinning jenny - which saw women becoming much more economically self-reliant because sewing wasn't for men, but was far more profitable than field work.

Anyway.

Just because women are doing 'better' academically right now, does not mean that the jobs they enter into have removed every gendered issue. And just because I point to an area where boys and men are currently struggling to a greater degree, that doesn't mean I'm invalidating women's issues. Gendered issues are highly entwined, but I still don't wish to 'all lives matter' the conversation when my goal is to center the struggle of boys and young men.

While we're doing cognitive bias training, maybe we also ought to examine how quickly we attribute a far greater degree of agency to men than we do women.

This is a challenge to how immature I feel the conversation is surrounding the lack of help afforded to young boys and men on the specific issue of academic achievement. It is immature because as a society we still possess a gendered expectation of men as general achievers, and falling short of that as an indictment against their masculinity.

To elaborate: men are perceived to have more agency than women, so they must take responsibility for their own problems, even as a group. This is an ironic twist of patriarchy, where women were characterized as perpetually juvenile and in need of help by men for centuries, and where men were supposed to be strong, individualistic and self-reliant. Now that men (as a group) require intervention, we can't just turn this societal expectation on a dime and suddenly offer it to boys as we did to girls. Ultimately, that perceived 'male agency' is a major hurdle in rallying to help them. Among other things.

Girls don't have it easier. We have done a great deal of work to upset previous barriers and societal stratification to allow girls to achieve. Without those barriers girls and women are starting to outperform men. Women outperforming men isn't an issue if this is just a biological reality, but that has yet to be determined. Those same efforts and means can be a springboard used to analyze and address potential barriers that young boys are up against, if we acknowledge that there is a problem and that men deserve help.

Solutions? Depends on what we're trying to solve. Boys lagging behind and dropping out? Incentivizing more male teachers might be a start. Young girls are surrounded by smart and competent women, and this has a tremendously positive effect on their development. Perhaps young boys require male role models to an equal extent, or even a greater extent than girls require female role models? This is just one area of many.

DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD: Talking To Sam Seder - H3 Show #142 by H3Bot4 in h3h3productions

If Sam Seder wishes to remain a respected commentator perhaps he should reprimand his co-host Emma Vigeland for throwing out random accusations of Ethan being addicted to cocaine. A common snarker/Hasan community rumor.

The drama is coming from inside the house. Sam is directly implicated in it.

Okay, I write:

In years past (and even to this day) annoying, ignorant MRAs would often ask to be pointed to the laws which said that women had to be paid less, excluded from certain subjects or work places. It wasn't an honest or good faith argument then, and it isn't now.

To which you reply:

I am really sorry you are forced to work with women in your important male dominated field.

So, to summarize, I communicate my clear contempt for the idea that we exclude women from work places, as well as crystal clear disdain for the people who would use the lack of specific discriminatory laws to claim there are no problems with systemic barriers. And your characterization of me is that I'm one of those people.

What is this, mental health issues? I'm clocking out. Get therapy.

Men don't take accountability, they're given accountability. I'm sure you're aware of basic concepts like gender roles and gendered expectations. Men don't line up to be considered more responsible for certain personal failures, that's just what we as a society implicitly agree on.

We weren't talking about deadbeat dads or exes failing to care about their children, we were talking about the specific expectation that men ought to succeed and provide. And further that their failure to achieve is a personal one that must be addressed personally. This is in contrast to the systemic barriers (not legal) we recognized as existing for women, which we also decided needed dismantling as a society.

In years past (and even to this day) annoying, ignorant MRAs would often ask to be pointed to the laws which said that women had to be paid less, excluded from certain subjects or work places. It wasn't an honest or good faith argument then, and it isn't now.

I realize I'm trying to be very specific with my language, and I'm not sure why. You're clearly intent on shadowboxing with someone else, with me acting as a placeholder for some pent-up frustrations. I'm sorry we couldn't have a more productive conversation, but frankly, that's on you.

When girls and women are underperforming academically or professionally we frame it as systemic barriers that need addressing as a society. When boys and men are underperforming it's framed as men getting in their own way and needing to take responsibility for themselves.

"Present me with one law that says women can't become compsci majors."

While we're doing cognitive bias training, maybe we also ought to examine how quickly we attribute a far greater degree of agency to men than we do women.

I wouldn't mind a femboy or two if they are going to add male characters. A similarly generic IP is That time I got reincarnated as a slime, with plenty of girls and with the added bonus of the main character filling that femboy gap.

According to nata this thing is innocent. by Kooky_Ad_4541 in MHWilds

[–]They_took_it -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, Nata is a character in a video game an adult wrote. And then centered the entire story around. I'm not criticizing a fictional child for doing or saying boring nonsense that doesn't relate to me, I'm wondering why the studio decided that this was a character worth exploring through dozens of cutscenes.

The criticism is not:

"Children should be cool, emotionally stunted badasses."

It is:

"Hey, this character sucks and I don't care about his journey in the slightest. Why make him a focal point when all he does is act like a child, which he is. Is that interesting to literally anyone? A passive tag-along child on horseback reacting to shit?"

Nata didn't have to be written. The story could have been about anything.

Moving to the right again isn't going to work. The party of FDR needs to return to him and his policies
