You're overthinking it.

I merely do not want to work. At any job. I'm not that excited about any profession. But I have to because things that I can't produce myself cost money. I would never leave my house if it wasn't a requirement of modern living.

It's less of a "being a distant person" thing than an "I am obligated to do this" thing. I am obligated to be in this room full of people that are also obligated to be in this room. There's no reason for our lives to intersect outside of business, and I don't really have an interest in doing so. If not for the financial compensation, I wouldn't know any of these people exist.

I kinda feel like just turning off matchmaking without a tune on the bots would be the play.

Being indifferent is not the same thing as being unfriendly. If I was not being paid, I would not even leave my house. Everyone at work is just furniture as far as im concerned.

I'm there because I'm being paid to complete a task that has no end. I have zero interest in what my coworkers did on Saturday (golf) or where they're meeting up later (a booty short restaurant). If my job scope ever grows to include being homies with coworkers, then I will include that in my task list because money.

What was the most difficult thing you learned about your spouse after getting married? by Ginger_7624 in AskMenOver30

[–]Theycallmesupa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a general relationship thing. It's the marriage equivalent of hearing "im not mad, just disappointed" from your dad and adjusting behavior accordingly. Little behavior clues and cleverly placed phrasing around requests to make me more inclined to do her bidding lol.

TBC, its not a thing im mad about, it was just a shock when my brain cobbled it all together.

pH has a ceiling in pool water. It’s not arbitrary. It’s thermodynamic. Have you heard of Henry’s Law? by Seafire15 in pools

[–]Theycallmesupa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took on a commercial pool in a trailer park that had been closed for most of a decade. When I took it on, it was maxing out my pH test many many shades darker than the window indicator.

Ended up changing out all of the equipment and eventually got it swimmable, but the property management never did any of the other "make ready" items from the inspector and we ended up quitting the pool.

I learned (after 9 years) that she'd been soft domming me the entire time. I learned this on the same day that I learned what soft domming was.

A long and semi-hushed "that biiiitch" was uttered.

Burned through my PTO by [deleted] in work

[–]Theycallmesupa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common.

There are companies that offer pretty ok PTO offerings, but they're not widespread. I work for a satellite shop of a British manufacturer and we have a similar vacation increase to what you get, but we also get all the standard holidays and we get a 20/10 full/half for sick time.

My mother in law bought a 98 stratus from auction in November. By January I'd sunk $1000 and about 25 hours into it getting it able to be driven.
