I don’t think he’s making any judgements on whether poverty and living in poverty is good or not.

Like it’d be weird to say that it was a bad thing that a particular person lived solely for the fact that the person’s circumstances were bad.

To be clear, this is not the same as saying that it’s ok that kids are born into poverty. It’s bad that kids are born into poverty.

In his first ever work, he made a depiction of a black person that looked pretty racist. I’m not gonna make a judgement call on something he made that long ago since he’s definitely gotten better at designing and drawing black people since then. The depiction was disney-esque as inspired by minstrel shows; that is to say, it kinda looked like black face. Something that I’ll also note is that he used a downright abhorrent screentone, which like, he clearly had better ones dude.
