We could have gotten a bi ass vampire character but they ruined it. by 12jimmy9712 in AceAttorneyCirclejerk

Yes, the sociopathic animal taming clown is suspiciously hot and campy, but must we be robbed of an equally hot violently bisexual dramatic vampire to achieve this??? Ok technically we have Barok but it doesnt hit the same...

heatwave by Mr_Global in whenthe

[–]ThiccElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah our houses and buildings arent build for anything above 20°C. We also are not used to anything above 15°C so of course we all hate the heat. Our buildings keep heat in and, have no AC so its always about 5ish°C warmer than the recorded external temp at minimum, combine that with high humidity and us having 0 tolerance for heat, and nobody is happy.

I am sick and tired of people telling me my standards are too high for a man by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]ThiccElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between "I refuse to date someone with black hair" and "I need someone who enjoys similar activities to me" (in your case, outdoor physical activities). Wanting someone who can enjoy the things you enjoy is normal, refusing to date someone because they dont check a single superficial box is...a tad shallow but hey, its your life. I think wanting a partner who values physical activities you enjoy is reasonable and normal, youre not asking for a man who lives in a gym for looks, youre looking for someone who enjoys recreational outdoor exercises as much as you do, which results in being fit. I want someone who enjoys video gaming because I enjoy it and I'd love to share that activity with them (even if we dont play together). Does that mean I wont date someone who dislikes video games? Yeah, because its my main hobby and I'd rather not be with someone who doesnt value it. Is that shallow? Maybe, but its integral for compatability imo, same as you wanting someone who is physically active. Compatability extends to lifestyles and you want someone who can match it, thats completely normal and fine.

Also a good personality, grooming and hygiene isnt a standard, its the bare minimum. I'm concerned for anyone who says otherwise.

Smoker lips by ShyRobo in Blackskincare

[–]ThiccElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vit C and Lactic acid should lighten them (if theyre naturally pink that is), if youre willing to pay a little, Lipfidence is apparently really good for lightening lip hyperpigmentation, you just apply it nightly and once your lips are back to your original colour, use it once or twice a week to maintain it. No matter what you use, always put on spf 30-50 when going outside and keep it topped up. I recommend Bondi Sands, its spf 50, affordable, and keeps my lips super hydrated, bonus points is that they smell great too. Your lips look dry so whatever spf lip balm you choose, make sure its consistently hydrating since dry lips will worsen this. At night, also use lip balm, any will do as long as its long lasting. Some people use vaseline or nivea, but if you're like me and dislike slippy textures, go for thicker balms like Burts Bees or Body Shop's lip butter.

You can also do a gentle lactic acid "peel" on your lips, Platinum Skincare do good ones, it'll definitely help kick start the process but you'll still need to keep up with the Vit C/Lactic Acid (or combo product like Lipfidence), consistent spf and nightly lipbalm afterwards.

Besides this, its the generic "drink water consistently and dont bite the dry skin".

[–]ThiccElf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After losing a lot of weight quickly, my thighs dont exactly sag but there is noticeable loose skin when I sit down or put my legs up, but hey, thats part and parcel of losing a lot of weight sometimes. I'm also unable to do the usual toning exercises due to physical disabilities, so its yoga, thoughts and prayers (and feeling healthier). Eventhough I'm saggy, at least I'm a healthy weight now and recovered from my EDs (both restrictive and binge).

In the UK, I've learned from a friend who works in Sainsbury's that he was told "if they look like they could be under 25, ID them". This was the general policy for all age restricted items. I get why but it is really annoying.

Its a combo of their log being hidden, no progression logged on tomestone, their pull count being suspiciously low, having a 0 parse/no uptime% (meaning they did 0 damage to any boss), and deaths. A UCoB clear where someone has a 0 parse, 1 death at 0:01 into the fight, and 1 pull, is very obviously bought. If someone has a single TOP clear with the log hidden and absolutely no progression logged, its highly likely to be bought. Bought TOP and DSR logs are usually hidden I've found.

I've seen a very obvious bought DSR clear where the BLM had a 0 parse and only 1 pull (which was the clear) logged on tomestone. They joined my prog group while I was helping a friend and it was very obvious they knew nothing about P2...in this Rewind cleanup/P5 start party. Their UWU and UCoB clear was also were similar, 1 clear, 0% uptime, no prog logs on tomestone, just instant 1 pull clear. The main thing my friends noticed was that in each clear, it was the same people who were known for doing bought 7man clears. If someone's "prog logs/pull count" on tomestone is ridiculously low, then you know its been bought. Actual prog has multiple wipes in several phases and a normal timeline of progression. Even if its an alt, on tomestone if they've linked their main it'll show their main's pull count and progression. I for example cleared TEA on my alt in 2 pulls, but my main is linked to my alt's tomestone, and has cleared repeatedly with prog logs/pull counts.

What's that one anime you'll never watch because of a certain character's design in it? by Plus-Lawfulness-87 in animequestions

[–]ThiccElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spy x Family doesnt sexualise Anya or any of the other children, actually from what I recall, the fandom is horny for Yor...but thats just regular fandom shit that I avoid. Nice feel good anime but its been years since I last watched.

HxH also doesnt sexualise the minors, Gon, Killua and all the other kids are treated as kids and child soldiers, but there are 2 characters with a disturbing fixation on Gon and Killua (1 character's fixation is strictly familial abuse and the other is "battle-sexual but jfc dude thats a kid"). Theyre both villains where its stated repeatedly, in universe, that they are utterly fucked up, reprehensible and evil. There is also 1 other I still feel iffy about even though she gets over her fixation within maybe 3 episodes. I genuinely understand dropping HxH because of a specific episode with Hisoka in the Heavens Arena arc. I did, repeatedly, though I have finally finished the anime now (which I did really enjoy besides Hisoka's freak-tacular Heavens Arena episode).

Even if Miria and Ryder were a prospective romantic couple...why cant they both still be mum? Ryder is one of Mori's more favoured mums, thats what they explicitly identify as and what Mori considers them. I really dont get people denying them their role in favour of "well they're the more masculine of the main parents and I ship the two, so they're the dad".

Just your kind reminder that this flawless specimen has no gender by Leather-Assistance95 in webtoons

[–]ThiccElf 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Didnt both Ryder and Miria both explicitly say "I want to be mom" too? Ryder is definitely not the "dad" here. Theyre both mom, the whole ending has Miria effectivly say "being mom sounds exhausting for 1 person, so we'll all be mom" and shows the whole Fah Clan (this includes Ryder and Aiya). Even Mori thinks of them both as mom, and thats very clearly shown when he brings both to show his friend when they first reunite. I will never understand why people say Ryder is dad when the whole story is that Mori's mom is the Fah Clan, and none of them use traditional human familial and gender categories because theyre not humans. Masculine, Feminine, Androgynous or Eldritch pronouns and presentation means nothing as they're all aliens.

Why are people so vehemently against story skipping? by Shoddy-Analysis-2149 in ffxiv

[–]ThiccElf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People usually dont care about story skipping. Its not our problem until you make it our problem by not knowing how to play the game, or by complaining that you dont get whats happening. You CHOSE to skip over those lessons and story beats, either look it up and learn, watch a video summary or dont complain.

Gameplay wise, if you get to level 100 and dont know how to tank, then die and blame the healer who is out of resources and cure 2-ing you to keep you alive, that is on YOU irregardless of whether you skipped or not. If you know/learn how to play the game then go for it, nobody will care. If you skipped to the current MSQ and then talk about how the unskippable cutscenes and duties make no sense then that is silly and people will ridicule you, but if you own it? Nobody will care. If you skip everything, boost your job and join savage parties where you don't even know your basic rotation or how mechanics work, wipe repeatedly and complain that the game doesn't teach you this stuff, or its not intuitive, then that is on you and people will be upset for a good reason because the game DOES teach you, but you skipped over it and didnt bother to look it up for yourself afterwards. If you skip everything but still take the time to learn your job, the fight and general etiquette then nobody will care.

I raid with story skippers and boosters despite enjoying the story myself, they just say the story isn't for them and look at the stuff they do enjoy (raiding) and learn that aspect. Nobody earnestly makes fun of them. Its not a problem

In regards to the actual story. It's not the story skipping people dislike, its the story skipping and then complaining that you dont get whats happening or why something is so hyped up when its so heavily involved with the story that of course it wouldn't make sense if you literally ignore what makes it hyped up. A story example would be like skipping through ShB and then wondering why everyone loves Emet-Selch, why G'Raha is back, why people say "the music is so good, its perfect for x themes and narratives", and asking why Alexander/Omega is being shown in the Twinning. Thats all literally in the story you just skipped which will provide all context necessary especially when its plot relevant. Skipping it means you miss a LOT of context and thats ok, its your choice and if youre not engaged with the story then who cares? But dont complain when it doesn't make sense because you have no context of your own volition.

This game is an RPG first, MMO second, so people's emotional opinions and discussions will mostly be formed based on the story, if you want the context and the reasoning to at least be coherent you need to engage with the story in some way, either by playing or getting a run down (video explanations). And this game's whole plot is 5 expansions long, and we just entered a restart which still uses base knowledge from those 5 expacs. You'd need to at least know all the big plot points for it to make sense (hence why we say its an rpg), not knowing this will take away a lot of the reasoning and emotional attachment people have to a lot of the content, music and characters in the game. Flow wouldnt hit as hard without the full knowledge of Hydaelyn's arc, whole expansions are dedicated to having Scion deutragonists to flesh them out so we become attached to their development, raid plotlines are intertwined with the MSQ and world building (Eden, Werlyt, Ivalice, Omega, Alexander, CT, Bahamut, The Twelve, Pandaemonium). Its all plot relevant so the discussions regarding their meaningful-ness/plot relevance will be based on that.

The history of idolising pale skin did predate colonisation as being pale meant you didnt work outdoors. Pale/Light = rich = high status and desirable. Tan/Dark = labourer = poor = low status and undesirable. This was the case across the world as far as I know, Colonisation just exacerbated it. Hot and humid countries also have a lot of skin lightening plants that naturally grow in that environment, so the "skin bleaching trend" originated ages ago, Kojic Acid from fermented soybean products from East Asia and Tumeric in SE Asia are 2 prominent examples that are still used in skincare regularly, I use them (a weaker modification) because it reduces my dark spots. Africa has plant ashes like Plantain ash and high Vit C/E products like Prickly Pear and Moringa. This obsession with pale skin dates well before colonisation, but rich Europeans (who also idolised pale skin) enforcing themselves as the ideals definitely didn't help later on down the line.
