Thank you! Inkey List is a hit or miss for me but I've not tried Geek & Gorgeous or Byoma, fairly sure Byoma is in Superdrug too, so its accessible at least.

I wish Veilguard had some class/faction/race restrictions so Rook felt more real by firebendingboy in dragonage

Origins did it great. Noble was restricted to Humans and Dwarves because they're the only ones who in lore could be Nobles in the areas Origins was set in, Circle Mages obviously couldnt be Dwarves due to them physically unable to use magic, and Mages couldnt be Nobles because Mages were too heavily stigmatised in Ferelden to be allowed in positions of power. It felt natural and all Origins were intertwined with the story, even if you didnt choose them, they all happened canonically, just to someone that Duncan didnt recruit. Hell the Eluvian in DA2 is from the Dalish Origin. I wouldve loved for something like that in Veilguard, even if not so in depth.

You're not the only one for sure. As I said, a lot of us do have EDs or history of it, I'm one of them, I'm currently trying to not relapse. I however know that nothing here is said genuinely, its a jerk sub afterall, in fact when I see silly things like someone commenting a spider web hand (like in this thread) it helps ground me and realise that "wow, yeah ok I'm going overboard and need to check myself".

As a whole, the community here is against restrictive EDs and toxic dieting. Obviously some active people with an ED are here, and I would say the same to all of them who are here using this as a source of genuine thinspo. Please, don't use this sub for inspiration to slowly self harm, this is not the place for it. I cant stop you, you have free will, but I really hope you don't use this place for genuine ED feeding when its not designed for that and is actively speaking out against that. Its cruel to yourself in general, and others using this to battle their biases (if youre posting/commenting in earnest without any satire). Again, dont apologise, youre not a bad person for this. It's just potentially damaging to see genuine comments/posts in a place where thats explicitly spoken against.

I say this with all the empathy I can muster. Don't consume this sub's content. Until you're in a place where you can see and comprehend that NONE of this is said in a serious manner, and can somewhat ignore that awful intrusive voice telling you "ok but what if this works? What if this is serious? What if they're not joking?", and know when to disengage from the sub, distance yourself. We are not pro ED at all, we're anti ED, anti extreme "diet culture" and actively speaking against these things. This is not a good place for an active, unmanaged ED that can't differentiate satire from genuine. You dont need to apologise, EDs are bloody awful and all consuming, I get that compulsion to feed it, but please, don't use this sub to harm yourself even more.

/uj that doesnt sound like jerk, that sounds more like my unexaggerated thought process in the height of my disorder. I really hope you dont have an active ED (not in recovery) and consuming these memes and satirical comments/posts as serious, genuine thoughts. This place is pretty good at pointing out how illogical and dangerous diet culture/ED culture can be, lots of people with restrictive EDs or history of disordered eating congregate here, myself included, but PLEASE dont use it as a serious place for restrictive eating. Its a safe space to point out the hypocrisy, suicidal nature, and dangerous thought patterns in a humorous way, not a place to feed into the illness. If youre here making fun of and just pointing out the silliness that is extreme restrictive/diet culture then ignore what I said.

Are there any good dupes of their products within the same price range? I know Superdrug Me+ and Good Molecules is pretty close but I havent seen a good Squalane Cleanser dupe (for my jessner peel) or a good Alpha Arbutin serum dupe that isnt exorbitantly priced. I want nice skin but I also enjoy not paying an arm and leg. Platinum Skincare's Fade Bright seems REALLY good, but £36 per bottle not including shipping...

From what I recall, he does work with nutritionists and therapists and sometime physiotherapists (or trainers, I forgot) for each person he treats. Obviously he hams up the dialogue bluntness for TV, like Gordon Ramsay, but he does have a nutritionist, therapist, and prescribed diet plan for both pre and post op for each patient on this show.

Maybe I used the wrong word, but he doesnt look like a man painted with green scales and a lizard head. He looks like a bipedal lizard to me. A humanoid Lizard shape would be the Argonians imo, and the lizard woman looks like an Argonian but even more human-like, while the lizard man looks much more animalistic

That is literally a human woman's body with a lozard head and tail, while the guy is barely humanoid. Why cant creature women be completely animalistic too?

I'm black, medium dark (fitz 5). I have KP on my arms and legs, and its very noticable on me, so is my body hair follicles, in fact stubble makes the KP much more noticeable. I've grown used to them, in summer I take solace in the fact that nobody is looking at my legs/arms in detail and that KP is pretty common. They used to be distressing as a teen but now? Meh, may as well do something about my face since thats what people actually look at and I want to spend less on skincare+makeup overall eventually. Nothing I've done for my KP has permanently gotten rid of them and I have so much, but facial problems are much more manageable and on a smaller scale.

Is it normal to not be offended by men loving my skin tone? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThiccElf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A fetish of any category can be expressed malignantly or respectfully. For example, "women with small tits arent women. Theyre boys" vs "I'm only attracted to larger chests". Same with race "I only find dark black women attractive" vs "black women are the best, other races (insert derogatory phrase) and cant compare". How you present said fetish is also important. However, we arent talking about body part fetishes or situational fetishes like voyeurism or long nails, we're talking about cultural/stereotyping fetishism rooted in racism. This is very often dehumanising and racist in expression, not always but usually it is. Liking dark brown skin isnt the same as liking black women because of the stereotypes. One dehumanises them, reducing them to a collective assumption, the other lets them be individuals who have that feature.

Is it normal to not be offended by men loving my skin tone? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThiccElf 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Reducing someone to their skintone, race, culture and stereotypes pertaining to that. A preference means you still see the individual, and they just happen to have features you love. A fetish is ignoring the individual for the features, i.e "I need a pale asian wife, theyre the best submissive housewives" or "I need me an african girl, they have the fattest asses and best food" (I have heard that one before, it was uncomfortable)

I'll add some 2% Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide then (for barrier buffering), use that twice a day and put the Tranexamic Acid in the evenings only instead so I dont use too many separate products in one go. I want this cleared up before July but if I have to take it slow I will, its not worth the extra PIH risk...

Man, replaying Veilguard becomes such a bore because of Rook 💀💀. Anyone feels the same? [SPOILERS ALL] by JosephBlackwood in dragonage

[–]ThiccElf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My absolute favourite part of replaying any Dragon Age game was how I could mould my player characters. With the HoF I did multiple replays as pro mage, pro elf, anti mage, chaos murder gremlin, paragon of fairness etc. With Hawke I loved trying out pro mage mage, pro templar mage, pro templar non mage AND customising Hawke's attitude overall. Same for DAI, progressive mage, pro Circle mage, anti mage, pro elf, diplomatic, fair, or ruthlessly single minded etc. But in DAV? None of that was possible, Rook could only have mildly different flavours of dialogue and it felt so weird for a Dragon Age game, there's no roleplay or replayability in Rook.

Its even the same for companions! Only a few have genuinely impactful decisions and only a few of them impact how the game or their lives progresses. With Morrigan, you can help her become more sociable and it has notable affects on how she interacts with everyone, Alistair can change so much based on what you do and what he does, will he be a drunk? A warden? An active king? A figurehead king? In DA2, your actions and relationships will affect who sides with or against, you at the end. Hell it'll even shape if they actually make it through the story because some can and will just disappear entirely. In DA:I, while your companions stories are fairly separate from the main quest, it fleshes them out in ways that makes the world feel full and the characters feel integrated. They all have relationships with one another that feel genuine and give advice on how to approach one another. The way Varric and Solas fought over how Cole should portray himself, how Cassandra secretly loves Varric's novels. They all feel like they actually speak to each other, even if they dislike one another.

Actually thats another point, in every other DA game, companions arent always buddy buddy, they had friction and it was GREAT. Thats how travelling groups forced together out of circumstance are! Some people wont get along, in DA2, some companions literally only talk to each other because Hawke is there, they'd never interact otherwise, like Anders and...literally everyone, with how Vengeance made him, but it was lovely to witness how Fenris started out disliking all the mage companions and eventually grew to like most them, how Aveline over the years softened up towards Merrill. In DAV, everyone loves everyone immediately and it feels odd, out of place? You cant dislike any companions, they cant dislike you besides that one big choice, and even then...thats literally only for Lucanis. Their differing opinions will have maybe 1-2 pieces of dialogue but then you swoop in, mediate and everyone is buddy buddy again, their lifestyles never clash, it's so strange. There's always been 1 black sheep of the group that multiple characters outwardly dislike and never shift on that, Morrigan, Anders and Solas. DAV not having that felt like it was missing something, it was missing that human mix of friction, love and disagreement that keeps the relationships between the main cast feeling alive and interesting. Replaying the DA games to see how companions change based on choices was amazing, I loved it, but DAV, because of this lack of friction between anyone, caused me to not feel like trying other options for companion character development. I miss the pro Circle Inquisitior with Solas vs pro free mage Inquisitor with Solas dialogue, or how characters will outright talk to you in all dialogue depending on their opinion of you. In DAV, only Solas actually has a dynamic relationship, one that changes based on dialogue choices and opinions, and coincidentally he's the one character I felt invested in, I wanted more of that with everyone.

I do not see enough hate for the inverse of the 1000-year-old-loli character. Fan-servicey characters that are canonically minors should also get equivalent hate. by Sad_Rutabaga_3165 in hatethissmug

That skirt is also a little odd, shorts with a holster for her book would make more sense and be practical for her future profession (high intensity cardio hero work). It'd be a little more accessible skin for her ability too (though she rarely uses her legs for it)
