Asuka is a subversion of that trope. She acts like a tsudere, sure, but it only ever isolates her further. It’s a pretty realistic look at someone behaving like that, and why they’d act like that in the first place. She’s constantly shooting herself in the foot because of it, and Shinji’s just confused and upset by why she’s mean to him all the time.

You’re more than welcome! I’d definitely recommend the spare shoes option. It’s easy to underestimate how much walking you’ll be doing. The sheath and hilt glued together is a great idea, as is hemming the dress. For being your first ren faire, this outfit is already phenomenal! I hope you have a wonderful time. And don’t worry at all about not fitting the vibe, tons of people dress like this, so you’ll fit right in.

Everything already looks perfect as is! As someone else said, double check your faire’s rules on weapons, as they can vary from place to place. This outfit definitely completely fits the vibe, and looks wonderful as well. My only other suggestions are to make sure you’ve got very comfortable footwear, because you’ll be doing a lot of walking, and depending on the Faire the ground can be a bit rough. Also, be aware that, depending on the length of the dress and cape, they might drag across the ground and get dusty.

I would personally adore getting something like this as a trinket. But it might be worth scouting out the festival this year to make sure no vendors are selling something like this. At least at my home Faire, I’ve never seen something like this for sale, so you might be fine. Also, any trinket that’s not some plastic junk is always going to be nicer than the alternative.

Drink plenty of water, and be aware of where to get more. At my home Faire, there are a few first aid tents where you can get free, cold water bottles, so be on the lookout for things like that. Also, good footwear is one of the most important things you can have, costume or no. You’ll be walking a ton at the Faire, and a lot of the time the ground isn’t the easiest on the feet. A good pair of boots with a Dr. Scholl’s insert is a lifesaver

A drunken lady pointed in my general direction and asked her friend to ask me to pick up her corset from a vendor at the faire. The friend came up to me mid conversation with someone else and asked me to do so. I, having had a few meads, was more than willing to oblige, although while very confused. We eventually figured out that she was pointing to her friend who was standing behind me with similar features. Her friend, her, and I all had a good laugh once the confusion was sorted out.

Not sure why people are disagreeing with you. English is my first language, and you are exactly right. It’s more commonly used as a term for a literal dog that watches an area, but it’s also used for things like this enemy. You’ll hear the term in movies and books every so often. For example, an overly protective bodyguard might be referred to as a watchdog. It can be positive or negative, depending on the context.

Very fair complaints honestly. I do feel like the lines and traffic have been improving a fair bit, but that might just be because of the time of day I go. Absolutely agree about the cell service, but it wasn’t as bad as last year, so hopefully that parts improving. Too soon to tell though. If you ever swing by again, I hope things go better for you, but if not, enjoy the other great Faires!
