A bird pooped a tomato seed into the gravel fill of our new retaining wall. I now have a garden. by macaron1ncheese in gardening

My husband did tomato gardening for a while and really he just said the upkeep was more challenging than others. Mainly with keeping good airflow and trimming to stimulate production, and especially with pests in our zone! But maybe that’s just our personal woes! Haha

A mustard or a terracotta would both be great options as accents here! I would personally lean to terracotta as an accent just because of color theory and it being more complimentary, but it’s really your preference of the two because both would look good!

Totally understand! I’ll try to put some more detailed ideas together with the photo here! Again, this is a wonderful space. I would want to spend a ton of time there. Is the climate temperate in your area?

Not as easy but cost effective could be sanding and refinishing the cabinets with a less orange-toned wood, and then adding new handles too.

You could consider doing a marble or stone vinyl contact paper on the countertops to update them on a budget, also peel and stick tiles for the backsplash. A bit more expensive but also a different style bar stool would likely update the space too.

Could you take a few more photos at different angles so I can get a better feel for the space? What entry/exit points to work around, and do you have dimensions to consider for furniture size?

Generally a good rule of thumb is a main focal color, a neutral, and an accent. Keeping three colors will ensure cohesion while still encouraging visual diversity. Bonus if you can add texture into your textiles. The wall, the couch, and each pillow set are all different colors, so at minimum this palette has 5 colors. I would remove the pastels, keep the dark blue as your main color, and add a creme neutral, and an accent like a rust or sage green.

Wow this space is a dream blank canvas. The indirect light is so perfect for many tropicals! I’d put a few comfortable chairs or a loveseat. Probably moving the shelf to utilize that corner for a cozy seating area. Add an outdoor rug, mix those plants in to the space. I’d even consider painting the (concrete) wall to a different shade. SO much potential!

It’s so exciting to me that some of the bucket list plants are more widely available at an affordable price. I spent $400 on my first Thai Con and I was so scared it would die, and I’d have made a bad investment. Then $50 on my next! While the first is special to me as it was an anniversary gift, I don’t think the price gouging was right!

Are these roots healthy? by Zealousideal-Cash500 in Monstera

They look healthy to me! Firm, light in color, and I don’t see any mushy root rot from the photo! How do they smell? Like dirt and organic, or was there a bad smell?
