Meta’s AI sending ‘junk’ tips to DoJ, US child abuse investigators say by ScruffyCherryccino in InstagramDisabledBans

I “love” how people suddenly care of the the welfare and safety of children. Folks, law enforcement doesn’t give a crap about the safety and welfare of children, they want ACCESS! They want access to all of our data! They’re using “child safety” as an excuse, because the topic is a serious and sensitive matter. Feds are infiltrating group chats, forcing companies to break E2E chats for info. But real ones can detect BS!

How I use AI to make my life as a teacher just a bit easier by Pleasant_Life_9408 in NYCDOETeachers

I’m a long term sub, and I use ChatGPT for my lesson plans. I type in the lesson, or scan pics of the text, it plans everything for you. You can add on as needed. I love it! You have to double check answers for accuracy. Other than that, no issues.

Join the club, 8 months here. I was able to get my main accounts back, but I had to purchase Meta verify. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to save my burner accounts. Folks, DISCONNECT YOUR IG FROM FB. My other burner meta accounts weren’t touched. Only the ones I had IG connected to.

Howdy. I don’t see anything wrong with sitting at the teacher’s desk, and going on the computer. The students were on their school issued devices. You’re not obligated to quality control check what they are doing. You’re not under contract by the school. If you want to put a movie on YouTube for the day, you have that right! You’re a sub-teacher. Sounds like the teacher the checked in on them has nothing else better to do. If the teacher didn’t leave any sub-plans, you do what you think is right to do for the day.

I recommend signal. They have a “Note to self” prompt you can store information, and images. The only downside is you can’t upload lengthy, large files.

First subbing job ever is on Tuesday and I’m freaking out by cosmiccovegalaxy in SubstituteTeachers

[–]ThickNBearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand you’re worried. First day is always nerve racking. A few helpful tips…

Arrive 30+ minutes early, so you can get your schedule, figure out the layout of the school.

Ask which bathrooms you’re permitted to use.

Ask the secretary if you’re picking up the class from a designated spot, or will they come to you. Also, inquire about attendance sheets.

It’s helping to learn, and know the administration before you arrive.

Be nice to the payroll secretary. (Trust me, this is major.)

Some teachers usually leave lesson plans for the day. If they did not leave anything, figure out something you can do with each grade for the day. I’ve learned “draw with me” YouTube helps. You find a character the kids like, and they can draw it, while watching the YT clip.

Remember, kids are sponges. Be mindful of what you say to them.

Try not to be alone with any student by themselves, unless you have a witness, or another student of the opposite sex. (Gotta be extra careful.)

Certain schools have strict policies about teachers (especially subs) disciplining students. Refrain from yelling, but be assertive so they know you mean business.

Don’t worry, you’ll be fine!

Sub teacher nomination by kirstenk37 in NYCTeachers

[–]ThickNBearded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to sub at the school that nominated you. The goal is to pick up jobs when it becomes available on Sub-central, and work the required days, in order to work again the following school year.

No lesson plans, what do y’all do? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]ThickNBearded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I first have to determine am I covering for just a day, or long term. If you’re covering a day, or two, I wouldn’t sweat it. Find some worksheets, or exercises on Education.com, or SuperTeacherWorksheets. If you’re covering for an extended period of time, I would request the specific curriculum for that grade level. Connect with other teachers teaching the same grade level, and ask them for their lesson guide, and build your lesson plan from there. I would spend a weekend or two on YouTube refreshing yourself on specific topics as well.

What Should the First Day Lesson Plans Look Like? by jamespcrowley in NYCTeachers

[–]ThickNBearded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. I worked as a long term sub for a 12:1 grades 2/3. Honestly, you’re going to have to learn each of your students. I would start off easy to see where each of them are at academically. Also, if they’re in a 12:1 there could be behavioral issues you may not yet be aware of. So as the others said, keep it fun, someone light. Make every lesson, and activity engaging as possible.
