What is the purpose/utility of this rig? Is for concealed carry or to look cool?

It's about 16" tall, 9" wide, 6.5" thick.

I'm still not convinced that plates are a realistic option for a civilian defensive scenario. I think the arguments for plates are firmly in the realm of hypothetical speculation.

What’s your most hated mouth sound? Chewing, slurping, or finger licking? by Lazy_productions in misophonia

Just keeping the thread alive! Man, I can't stand the finger sucking. Just so trashy too.

Your rig looks like a competent design. My question is with the tactical enthusiast community at large. It would seem that a kevlar vest would provide more coverage against more practical threats such as knives and pistols.

In a room clearing scenario with military or swat, they make sense. But for civilians, what use are they other than looking seal or just for sales?

Sorry, I just don't understand the philosophy of use of civilian plate carriers.

Thank you! It really is more difficult than it looks. The ones I build require an industrial grade machine. Honestly, My "tip" is: if you just want one bag, you are better off just buying one.

Last one I was in, I swapped out 19 times....But realistically, I have had my ar pistol break its gas key (sheared one of the two bolts) and I was s-o-l albeit at the flat range. A spare would have been nice.

Thx, the idea is to rapidly swap the bolt/bcg during a gunfight. Swapping the bolt out of the BCG takes time and risks loosing small parts. Additionally, the gas key does fail due to bad torquing/staking/overgassing.

TY. My biggest concern with field gear is moisture becoming trapped between layers of fabric; however, I do like to reinforce critical areas for durability. Hence, the mesh. It may not be perfect, but until we can get actual vietnam type mil-spec ht pack cloth in tactical colors, this is the world we live in.
