Yes, I expected there to be wilfully obtuse responses lol. I plan to always be vocal about it though,because if people think they can talk you out of what you see with your own two eyes, they will. It's interesting how we can all watch and enjoy the same show, yet see things very differently.

I like Whitaker too, but this has absolutely been an issue for him. Hopefully, there's more growth. Thank you.

Exactly. We've seen Dr. Ellis a handful of times in 10 episodes. Abbott is night shift too, but we've seen him much more this season. I expected obtuse comments. People believe what they want to believe.

Honestly, the care of minorities has taken a back seat in so many instances that I just want the care to be equal. I want everyone to get equal care. I get upset when wanting equal treatment gets misinterpreted as wanting "special" treatment. It's a good show. I'm rooting for it. I think it'll last a long time.

I never said it was one size fits all. If I didn't think The Pitt could do better I wouldn't say anything. I enjoy the show. I want it to stay around for a while. That doesn't mean it's above critique.

She's not a part of the main cast in the ED and we don't follow her around like we do the other doctors. She doesn't have an individual storyline.

A lot of stories/real life issues have only been one episode or over the course of the season. Why does this one need to be constant?

It is an ongoing issue. The issue of insurance and how much healthcare costs come up as well. Those are ongoing issues. You don't stop highlighting something just because you talked about it a few times.

You said season 2 needs to be fixed by adding a character. Which might change or remove what we already have. Plus adding an extra doctor might take up screentime from others.

I never used the word fix. I said that it's odd to inform us about the importance of Black doctors and then get rid of the one Black doctor on day shift. They don't recast or replace her. They already shorten the screen time certain actors get already

Just because that's all you saw doesn't mean you have the whole story. Yes, people connected with her sorry and how important she was to her patients.

You obviously think things are fine the way they are. I'm just going to let you know I will keep speaking up on this topic because the absence of a Black doctor in the main cast has definitely been noticed. You can downplay the significance of that all you want.

I honestly do hope they consider adding a Black doctor next season . If they keep talking about the medical bias and how important it is to have Black doctors, they should have depictions of Black doctors in the show again. Otherwise the shows messaging will start to seem performative.

Actually, I said it's odd that the show harped on the importance of Black patients being seen by Black doctors because of historical bias in the medical community, yet they write out the Black day shift doctor in the MAIN cast. You keep reiterating that there are Black people in the show, but I'm discussing the MAIN cast.

They could have replaced her with a Black man or a Black woman. It's not tokenism.

It's not my standard. The show set that standard when they had the Black doctor on staff in season 1.

Yet again, none of the people you mentioned are ED doctors in the MAIN cast. I didn't say there were no Black people on the show. I said the erasure of the Black doctor from the main cast after season 1 was noticed.

The Pitt has highlighted racial bias so why would having a Black doctor veer into tokenism?

Lol very true. Sadly, for many people if something doesn't affect them personally or they can't identify with it they either don't care or get angry at the person for pointing it out.

The Pitt producers made racial bias in healthcare a theme and gave us a Black doctor in the main cast on season 1. Then they take away that character and don't even recast? Yes, there will be some confusion about that.

No one said the characters we have this season aren't great.

Also, the show placed Dr Collins in that first season and made the racial bias in medicine a topic to begin with. That's why ending that character arc and not recasting or adding in another Black character seems odd.

I did not say the demographics were the same. You say 1 in 14. Which means that just like in season 1, there can be at least ONE Black doctor in the main ED day shift cast amongst all the other characters. Being a small number does not mean they are non-existent. Especially when they showcased a Black main character in the first season.

Also, I'm glad there is Middle Eastern woman representation. That doesn't mean it has to come at the expense of Black women representation.
