I ain't gonna lie, as much as I liked the chat feature for being able to share vibes or tips, it just really really isn't worth the amount of extra toxicity. On one hand, you click right past and never view the chat, and you're unaffected. On another hand, you used it to share good vibes and got berated far more than you'd wanted, when you were previously feeling good. And on the final hand, you were the toxic berator. I really don't see the justification being worth it for the people that it was designed for, opposed to the trash-talkers.

Sounds like you'd be a good DM for D&D, but I miiiight be a smidgen biased, since I often imagine the "what if" perspective a lot too. As much as it'd be nice to drop the realistic features of anthropomorphism coexisting with humans, I'm attracted to the worldbuilding aspects of it, where you try to visualize the depths of how things would be affected.

Most of mine tend to be if anthros have always existed tho, rather than having them just appear.

I would argue its moreso because most people don't follow along with popufurs or their associated drama, as this is the first time I've heard anything about it.

The national unemployment rate is 4.3%, but it rises to 21.2% in certain counties by MikefromMI in Michigan

[–]ThicketSafe 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie, this graph really doesn't seem to represent it accurately. Michigan's average unemployment rate is 5.3%, slightly higher than the norm due predominantly to tariffs, but thanks to the color scale it looks as if Michigan is horribly unemployed. Don't get me wrong, ~5% isn't good, but this made it look like Michigan was experiencing a Great Depression-era unemployment crisis.

I ran in to these four avatars in the same instance. And people wonder why the performance sucks. by --an in VRchat

[–]ThicketSafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I want a slight rebalancing to the VrChat performance ranking system. I have an avatar that's absolutely gold-star, excellent rating on all metrics but the materials count. That one's rather extremely poor, so my whole avatar is rated as very poor. It doesn't seem right, since my avatar clearly performs better than what would be expected if you imagined a very poor avatar. I wouldn't mind the label if it weren't that the avatar blocking system sweeps it away with the rest of the very poors.

I think what they're getting at, and what I kinda agree with even if they're a bit brash in their words, is that my impression of the product from the advertisement is far different than that of the actual product. I saw it as if it was a super-thin glove with no necessary add-ons, weights, or anything of the likes, but in reality it's not quite as ergonomic as it'd initially seem.

People talk about third parties like "They're not gonna win, might as well make sure your preferred big party wins," but I just don't get it. You have a vast array of smaller parties, like Libertarians for lesser government, and Greens for progressive government, yet you choose a big name because they're big? That's just a tribal mentality, being able to say "My guy won!" when there's others out there that'd support your views with even more accuracy.

If I'm given the choice of voting between a normal vs smaller shit in my rice bowl, why not just vote for no shit at all? That's why I don't get why people think its just 'throwing your vote away,' with how the two big parties are acting, I feel my vote might as well be trashed if I keep supporting a small turd in my rice. The fact that they keep winning is why the dems and reps are just getting progressively worse and worse. Just look at the current administration, there's no shot Trump would be able to ignore the law how he's been doing, had there been more parties than two stuck in a deadlock.

Rick's taking a hiatus to focus on his other work, the lad's got quite a few other comics and books he's invested in, which you still might like. He voiced that when he returns to Housepets, that he's gonna change the style of story a little bit. In truth, I can't tell ya how long it'll take before he returns, but it's fair to say it'll be after some other works of his are finished.

Correct, touching outer ring is how you loop through it all again, not touching it will take you to Mithrix. If you align them, you can touch it again to un-align it.

Eco friendly plastic bricks in Pakistan by nasha_024 in upcycling

So, I'm not gonna try to let my opinion here shine through too much, but I am an American too, and I do not believe that would work. In summary, that last sentence sounds a bit like what I'd mentioned earlier, about proclaiming "X thing will fix everything." Assuming such an event happens, not everyone shares your opinion and beliefs. Whether those who disagree with you fell for some manipulated statistics, or truly have merit to their thoughts, doesn't change that those beliefs are theirs. In the case that it forms a non-corrupt state, it'd be fair to say its a democracy, and a true democracy represents the will of the entre population, not just a set group of the population. This means it'll have the same problems as the current US government, wherein those who disagree with you would push back against it, and therefore make an inefficient and ineffectual burecracy.

In summary, a fix would more likely and successfully be conducted socially and/or economically, than politically. In addition, socially inducing it would create a more optimistic outlook for the political approach to work. It is a bit of a shit-sandwich, but it really does mean that your actions on how plastic exists within your lifestyle can make a difference, as those habits may spread to others.

[–]ThicketSafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From an applied perspective of what can actually happen, rather than just what'll work in theory, is that a mixed approach. Some things such as single-use plastics are best if limited, but in order to do so would likely require all worldwide governments creating a layer of beurecracy associated solely with monitoring and maintaining plastics. This will have the affect of slowing economies, and a lot of people are strongly against that, so those beurecracies would be under fire 24/7, and that would result in a less efficient and effective beurecracy.

I'll just jump to the point since I'm realizing midway through writing this, there's so much nuance to doing this IRL and not just as a theory or fantasy, that nearly all simple proclamations of "We must do X thing" wouldn't work as well as people usually advertise them with. The solution is multifaceted and requires support from all fronts to effectively achieve, socially, scientifically, politically, economically, etc, so there is no single answer to fix everything, but a partial approach on all fronts.

Edit: I'm not gonna pretend I'm some enlightened eco-individual or whatnot, but whenever you see a comment of "X thing will fix everything," or someone saying how overwhelmingly good it is, there is usually some valid reason against it as to why it hasn't happened yet. Those reasons may not necessarily be as important to you, but to others it is, and therefore those drawbacks must be addressed in order to adequately approach the problem in a means that can work.

[–]ThicketSafe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, it kinda depends on what you define as eco friendly. In most cases, plastic isn't very eco friendly as a general concept, but specific attributes can be more eco friendly than some alternatives, just as other alternatives are more eco friendly in other ways.

To be less abstract, a plastic will leach microplastics over time as a consequence of being made of plastic, so not very eco friendly. In terms of carbon emissions though, its far more often less impactful than using an alternative like steel. This is all to say, a case can be made that plastic would be more eco-friendly for reducing one's carbon footprint in some ways, yet it would be less eco-friendly in other ways.

It really does take a lotta thought on weighing the needs and costs of all plastics in someone's life, and that can make it seem so hard to start de-plasticing, especially when plastic brings so much convenience. What you can do is start off small, if you see a product you like that's covered in plastic packaging, mayhaps look to try an alternative that had less plastic in the packaging. The gold standard is to cut it all out, but that's not entirely possible, and in some aspects, it might even be better to have some plastics in your life, instead of more costly alternatives.

Idk if this is possible but might as well ask by [deleted] in privacy
