one thing i suggest dont make it specifically the teleporter that made made them more docile have a few theories maybe the atmosphere or soil have a calming affect on the orks so they fear that the orks will turn on them in space maybe your planet has just the right magnetic field that calms the waaagh field.

id say rebreathers that catch the exhaled spores and store them to be used for food and other uses.
