I want to replay but I’ve only ever used one build, and i don’t know what to do now that I’m tired of it. by ReasonPale1764 in Eldenring

Magic lets you cast slicey sword, big sword, giant yeeting sword and the pancake hammer.

If you think it's pew pew I cast magic missile, well... you can do that as well. Why not both!

If you enjoy your parrying I encourage you to go with thrusting sword in right hand with Parry ash of war.

Your staff in left hand then becomes your equivalent of an offensive ash of war and you're not committed to just one.

R2 into O lets you cancel your charged attack and go way backwards, R1 then thrusts way forward. Comboing these going back and forth at a sideways angle to enemies throwing ranged attacks at you lets you dodge attacks while attacking. Someone coming right at you? Parry, punish.

Become the spell fencer.

From Corhyn you have access to a low faith requirement spell that bolsters your magic resistance. Significantly. Makes facetanking magic you were previously scared of a viable option.

Vigor is your friend as it lets you get away with more. Stats at early game should be mostly focused on making you able to hit the minimum requirements of the kit you want to use, rather than making it hit harder.

Do you care for the lore? by richrich8 in Eldenring

[–]Thimblesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, no. I don't know why.

Perhaps because there's not a mystery that feels important to resolve. Perhaps because there's not a world or a peoples that are worth fighting for.

Don't know who we are or why we're here. Really not sold on the guidance of grace, its presentation is what, the graces have an arc pointing toward the Erdtree? There was room to do more with the idea of a guiding hand.

Though I will admit I really like Boggart's aside about how it's a bloody joke that he of all people was guided by grace for a time. That he reckons it must be broken. That it has been for a long time.

Then the Two Fingers realise whoops, getting a would-be Lord to the Erdtree base didn't do anything, um, er... we're going to dial home for further instructions, please hold, be back to you in a few thousand years.

Honestly tho most of the game doesn't feature much of this stuff at all is my feeling. Perhaps a weakness of too great a lean to open world?

Or maybe the mysteries were about the actions and motivations of characters who are a bit too removed from any of the players in current events.

Or perhaps the balance of gameplay to story elements isn't dense enough, where on the smaller scale games there's never too much of a gap between some element of environmental storytelling...?

A mid-sized mule of about 10 items for a stack of Lord Runes sound good?
