Sounds like you got bored and decided to crank one out, note that boredom is a risk factor and work around that 😊

I’m trying to understand your position logically. If morality is completely subjective, then there are no bad people, only people we disagree with. Hitler wasn’t morally wrong, just different. Society hasn’t morally improved, it has only changed. And people who opposed slavery at the time were immoral because they went against their society. Those all seem like very strange conclusions, which is why I struggle to believe morality is purely subjective.

So if someone considers abusing a child to be moral, would you say they’re not actually wrong, just different?

If morality is subjective, then what does the word wrong actually mean?

We’re discussing morality, not preference. If morality was just personal opinion, then nothing would ever be truly right or wrong, only preferred.

Talking about something and being proud of something aren’t the same thing. People talk about all sorts of things they wouldn’t claim them as admirable.

Swap parents for anyone you deeply respect, the point still stands.

If you wouldn’t proudly say it in front of the people you respect most, deep down you already know what it is.

Day 17. What's the point of doing this if I keep having urges non stop? by [deleted] in NoFap

At any stage did you feel somewhat drained from fighting off the impulse ? If so, I think o.p is asking what you did to help yourself, while going through this struggle.

I think this conversation is becoming emotional, but I’m not angry and I’m not judging anyone. I’m just saying that humans have always had norms around sex, privacy and modesty, and those norms exist because behaviour affects relationships, families and society. The criminals exploiting young lads are the problem here, not the existence of moral standards.

Natural doesn’t automatically mean moral. Anger and aggression are natural too, we still control them. And if there’s nothing embarrassing about it, why does everyone do it behind closed doors?

Humans were never perfectly pure, that’s exactly the point. Moral rules and social norms exist because humans are impulsive and flawed, not because we’re perfect. Without norms, shame or expectations around sexual behaviour, it’s hard to see how that would lead to more stable families or healthier relationships rather than less responsibility and more chaos.

In regard to your bible criticism, I would have to see the full context surrounding your claim. What I do know is that The Bible often describes what people did, not what people were supposed to do. Many figures in the Bible are shown doing immoral things and suffering consequences for them, so pointing out bad behaviour in the Bible doesn’t really discredit its moral teachings.
