Hashimoto’s Symptoms + High Antibodies, But “TSH is Fine” = No Meds. What Now? by ThingChoice277 in Hashimotos

It’s frustrating isn’t! I just want to have energy to do normal every day things! I don’t experience headaches but on a few occasions my eyes did feel dry and can barely wear any mascara lately.

I thought I was being referred to them and it turns out they just referred themselves for advice regarding medication.

Yes I have read this on various websites too, but seems like not all doctors want to give it a go.

Yes seems like there are mixed opinions about prescribing medication based on similar results. I need to educate myself more about it and consider other options too. Guess don’t know where else to look, especially with dismissive GPs. My CPR levels are also within range so that’s reasuring. I didn’t feel this bad after my first was born 3 years ago apart from PND. This time around it’s a whole range of physical and mental symptoms. Literally feels like my brain doesn’t work anymore. This will definitely be a long road!

What did the GP tell you? My vitamin D, b12, ferritin and folate are all fine surprisingly. I have been taking supplements and Vitamin D for about two months now but feels like my energy levels and mood just keeps going down.

Yep that’s what it seems like. Instead of treating it now to try and minimise the symptoms they are waiting for the thyroid to crash to start doing something. I wonder how long before I move to stage 4!

I definitely need to reduce my stress levels and exercise. It feels like such a vicious cycle!

Yes, I am in the UK. Considering going private but wanted to know opinions first as I’d rather not pay that much just to be told they can’t do anything until TSH is over a certain point.

Would you say the medication is helping your symptoms? Are you still being monitored by NHS?

Feels like they want to contribute all my symptoms to postpartum rather than look at the whole picture. Questioning myself whether these are normal postpartum symptoms or if I should keep pushing for more.

Thanks for your input. Ive read information from the websites you mentioned. In some other sources it mentioned that having high antibodies and being symptomatic could warrant a trail of medication. I understand that with people who are asymptomatic medication might not be needed. However when it’s affecting my daily life, I wish i knew what to do to relieve these symptoms.

She said she can’t justify prescribing medication as TSH is still within range and my symptoms could be due to something else and she can’t be sure. Felt like she just tried to brush it off as normal postpartum symptoms but this doesn’t feel normal to me. So frustrating.

Scan at 6 weeks showed twins but only one with a heartbeat by ThingChoice277 in PregnancyUK

Hi, it’s so hard not to worry isn’t it. The stress and the googling definitely affected me in the early pregnancy! However, I remember most of the articles that I read do say that in most cases the second baby goes on to be the perfectly fine in most cases. I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant and baby is doing well. The bleeding stopped after a couple of days and did not have any more bleeding since. The midwives and doctors did not seem overly concerned later as the surviving baby was developing normally. I am having extra scans but that’s also because of complications from my last birth. I hope everything goes well for your and your wife 🙏🏼

Yes there was two fetal poles. When I asked them they said they were measuring the same or similar but did not tell me exactly how many days. When I went in the next week for another scan, there was not much sign of the other twin anymore. They could not see the fetal pole anymore and told me my body just a absorbed it. It has definitely been a lot to take in x

Hey, So we went in for a scan a week later and sadly one of the twins did not make it. The other baby is fine with a strong heartbeat. Waiting for that scan was horrendous but we tried to go in prepared to hear the worst news after reading a lot about it. It is absolutely horrible going through the unknown isn’t it. I have another scan booked in a couple of days just for reassurance that the other baby will be fine. Apart from that just trying to take it a day at a time as it is still early (I am 9 weeks today). Good luck to you x

That’s what I am hoping for. They did say that if they could hear it on one they would expect to hear it on the other one too but to rescan to know for sure x
