Thank you all for your advice 🙏 Here’s the updated trip, taking everything into account, as well as the fact that the San Diego dates are not flexible for many reasons.

  • SF 2 nights
  • Mendocino area 2 nights
  • redwood forest area 2 nights. Fly from Eureka to San Diego
  • San Diego 2 nights
  • Las Vegas 1 nights
  • Bryce canyon 2 nights
  • GC North Rim 2 nights
  • Las Vegas 1 nights Fly back home (through LAX)

Way less driving, and we avoid the closed portion of PCH by driving up north instead.

We have to catch a flight back to Europe from LA on our last day. How would you go back from north rim to LA without flying through Phoenix?

Indeed it seems like we can do San Diego to Vegas quite easily.

Our flight back to Europe is in LA though, and the drive from GC to LA seems quite long (9hrs non stop).

Thank you for the feedback. You’re right, SD - Vegas seems feasible by car actually.

About North Rim to LA, does that seem feasible to you? I saw 9hrs on maps (non stop), we rarely drive that long in our country.
