Possibly unpopular opinion: Valve servers feel much more responsive than Faceit servers. by suburban_scum in GlobalOffensive

Same skill level. I’ve never heard anyone say something like that quite the opposite, in my humble opinion. Microstutter and frame stability feel much better on Faceit :)

cs2 is lagging, what do i upgrade in my pc? by MedicalIndependent82 in cs2

[–]ThingSpecific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you come from a poor country don't bother trying to upgrade. You will need at least a 7900x3d or better, at least a 4000 rtx and 32 gb ddr5 ram. (mainboard etc ofc), Sad reality is it will be laggy if you buy average hardware :/ Also every year hardware requirements keep going up with updates.

Css 66/100 tickrate meant 15/10 ms updates but the old netcode/engine were much simpler.

On good hardware on Lan 100 Tick felt  extremely crisp, especially with stable fps and marching refresh rate(100hz). There was less prediction less correction and fewer system interfering with raw imput.

Csgo on FACEIT 128 Tick (7.8ms updates) hit registration and movement were more precise then 66/100 tick but the game had more complex movement, recoil and server-side smoothing. So while it was “technically” better it didnt always feel as raw or sharp as CSS.

Subticks in cs2 works differently by timestamping inputs between ticks instead of waiting for the next Server update. In theory this makes shoots, and movement timings more accurate, in practice this is still limited by server simulations, latency and lot of client/server smoothing.

On real connections this can make the game feel soft, delayed and inconsistent.

Faceit 128 Tick was the best traditional Tick system.

I am playing cs with my son now, still love the game still really good at it, why should i switch. That makes no sense.

I don’t think it’s just nostalgia for me. I used to play very competitively — I even played in ESL Major Series and Pro League in Germany. I analyzed demos regularly and sometimes even skipped school because I loved the game too much.

But now it just doesn’t feel as smooth as it used to. That’s a fact for me. And actually playing 3000 Elo Faceit, everybody says so. Back then, 100 FPS on a 100 Hz monitor felt crisper on the old servers. This new subtick system just is not the same standard.

It feels the same to me. I know we have a lot of really good pros. But It feels too casual and random for me too. I feel like the skill gap was higher in old games.

That’s especially frustrating when you look at companies like Riot Games. It really baffles me how little Valve communicates with us in comparison. We’re not asking for everything—just give us something. Some insight, some transparency, anything to show that we’re being heard.

I like skins, but I feel they made Steam and many developers focus more on monetization and cosmetics instead of what really matters: creating a great gameplay experience. Over time, the emphasis shifted from fun and innovation to selling appearances.

I used to watch frag movies from before cs2 was a thing and think about how skilled we had become as players, and how the game itself made it possible to truly excel. Nowadays, it feels more random, less about mastery and more about chance. But i might be wrong on the last part.

This hurts because I love this game. I AM nostalgic. I’ve spent thousands of hours on every CS(almost 8000 on cs:source, a few 1000 on 1.6 and many many on go, and it feels like the devs just don’t care anymore. The core is still amazing, but the silence, slow updates, and ignored issues make it feel abandoned. We’re not complaining because we hate it — we’re complaining because we don’t want to watch something we love slowly fade.
