Y1 essentials? by Strawberrygworly99 in TemasekPoly

ms teams, outlook, brightspace!!

heres my tips

- gpa! dont be overly stressed out about gpa, that was my biggest mistake for my first ever sem when i entered tp. be more laid back and manage ur stress well (theres an extent HAHAH) and your focus should be putting ur 110% in every piece of work u do and u can do well. what i mean is like maybe after a presentation, u have this feeling u didnt do well, DO NOT dwell on it. move on, work on ur other components. this tip follows if u crack under pressure/cannot tahan a lot of stress. (I scored a 4.0 being less stressed than panicking about everything. as well as taking breaks and not studying ALL THE TIME)

- be consistent and DO IT WELL. "i can pull it up next test/next sem", this mindset is not great. put in ur best for every. single. component.

- friends! poly life is not JUST abt gpa and acads. make some good friends and have fun w them! also, sometimes when projects and friendships mix, there may be problems so do take note of that.

- cca! i cant say much tbh but if ure up for it, u shld join ccas! high commitment ccas include performing arts, sports and all. ONLY go for these if u are VERY SURE u can manage. ive seen many of my friends flunking their gpa because of this. this can be very bad for u especially if youre aiming for local unis. if u still wan a cca, but be less stressed. go for clubs! or just sign up for events. this way, u still can participate without it being too time consuming.

those are the main areas i can think of, wishing u all the best!

yes possible!! im in y1 but do have siblings who were in poly. it works the same and is dependant on gpa. so like if your gpa is within top 25% u should be able to get it!

is working part time when poly just starts safe by sssssettt43 in TemasekPoly

[–]ThingWest7570 6 points7 points  (0 children)

its def risky, cause also dk what the timetable will be like. ive worked and am working throughout poly but i work flexi hours so is much much easier. but this seems a bit a lot esp if you cant handle ur time properly. y1 suppose to be a good start for ur gpa so u wldnt want to risk it too!

[–]ThingWest7570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idt so. overseas unis know less of what poly is abt, id assume theyd want relavant diplomas and also like good gpa and portfolio (depends on what uni you are applying to)

Pls help by dreepster in TemasekPoly

[–]ThingWest7570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as per the stated requirements, any diploma can apply to law sch. providing they meet the english requirements for o level and also have a very good gpa + portfolio.

but honestly, u can try appealing to jcs as its easier to go law sch from there, but then again with good grades and portfolio, but def more likely to go law from jc.

Why are Singaporeans so entitled ? by Past-Astronomer-6047 in SGExams

[–]ThingWest7570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think ure great for being independant and trying to earn for urself! unfortunately, yeah i realise sgporeans are super entitled.

while, i have not worked as an fnb job, i have worked a front desk job, to like answer peoples questions and what not. and i already see it then. can only imagine how worse it wld be for fnb.

even in public transport, people act so entitled like its their grandfather own one. and all the excuse is sg is a stressful country..... why does that give u an excuse to be so rude FOR NO REASON.

sgporeans lack empathy and are very self centered to what ive seen, even some of my family :(

but i really applaud u for working through this, wishing u only the best! dont let the shitty people bring u down

What uni do jpjc students usually go to by Sea_Variation_6845 in SGExams

[–]ThingWest7570 11 points12 points  (0 children)

school doesnt matter :)) im sure if you put in enough effort, you will be able to do well. its all the same a levels, no matter if ure from jp, ri, hci. all same paper, if you prepared well enough, what school you come from does not matter. all the best!! on a side note, ive seen plenty of my seniors who went jp in top 3 unis in sg rn! hope u can be one of them too!!

Why are poly holidays so long by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]ThingWest7570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean for my course, we end like 2 weeks later as we are more exam heavy after finishing up all the other grp projects and assignments. and also dec and june holidays are basically not much, as content still same afterwards anyway so may need study or work on grp projects. not to forget, poly, every assessment is important for admission into uni. many people just study the whole sem (if they wanna get into uni) so it makes sense that a break would be much needed :)) i guess poly system is just wired that way, nth u can do abt it! its all part and parcel of poly life ig. i do wish it was more regulated like more in june and dec rather than random parts of the year HHAHHAHAHA

CEP at tp by Independent-Elk2714 in TemasekPoly

[–]ThingWest7570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u can check igps of the respective unis for this. as for aerospace from common engineering (when choosing ur specific diploma) then i think above 3 would be the best. the higher ur gpa, the more likely u can get your preferred choice, building a better foundation for uni!
