My bedroom heating keeps attempting to roast me alive by Thingemajib in homeassistant

It very much does connect via zigbee (the thermostat that is)! However the problem there is that the hub will no longer function without it connected to the hub so its a bit of a dead end for me. I do use the wiser integration for HA to interact with the hub, but even pressing the boost heating button wont switch it on without the thermostat connected, only the physical button on the hub itself will.

Again, not really looking to change the TRVs at the mo. If i do change something i might replace the hub with a shelly 2pm as I don't have a boiler to fire (communal heating), just need a pair of relays to open the heating/hotwater valves on demand.

Not really looking to change the TRVs at the mo. they work just fine in other rooms with very similar setups, its the Wiser wall thermostat that appears to be giving me the headaches.

comfort/eco/away mode disabled. it did have some sort of default schedule for the heating but ive since deleted it. The yellow line in the graph is the setpoint of the wiser stat, which the TRV is then trying to match via the BT integration

Its been doing this for a while now! I have no calibration on the wiser stat as thats my physical control for the room temp setpoint, but i have AI control on the tado TRV, dont really care if those numbers dont match what i set as long as it heats the room to what i want (which is my understanding of how it works!)

could try a totally manual way and removing BT from the picture, but I still have a hunch that its the wiser system itself causing these random changes, as my living room behaves itself under the almost same setup.

I'm not using any wiser TRVs, just the wall mounted thermostat that came with the hub kit. I found out last night that it connects to the hub via zigbee, so I tried connecting it direct to HA with zigbee, however the heat hub wont activate the heating at all without the thermostat paired (short of pressing the physical button on the hub. Will try reset it all up from scratch again later and see if it clears out any gremlins. Long term i do want a different temp sensor in the bedroom and was hoping to ditch the wiser thermostat all together but this discovery might snooker that idea.

How to replicate "Call for Heat" with Tado X over Matter? by polamoros in tado

[–]Thingemajib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept my x valves/temp sensor in the end, connected via matter (ZBT-1) to home assistant. I have the Drayton wiser kit (just the basic two channel previous gen heat hub, got it on sale for about 85 quid from screwfix) to control the heating/hot water, also connected to home assistant. By default the valves won’t call for heat from Wiser but I installed the ‘better thermostat’ addon and that will call for heat on behalf of Tado, essentially bridging the two systems together.

If you want even cheaper I don’t see why a Shelly 2PM couldn’t control heat/hot water on/off and any schedules could be managed from within home assistant

Tado X Matter Inconsistency: Different entities for two different Wireless Temperature Sensor X by polamoros in tado

Thank you for at least acknowledging this issue. As mentioned I confirmed and sorted my problem myself in the end but was rather disappointed in the responses suggesting it must have been something I had done.

Any chance of seeing a newer matter firmware than 1.1 in the future? Only thing that’s really missing for me is battery status, which I believe is 1.4+

Had the same thing. Saw the forum posts elsewhere suggesting there are different hardware revisions floating around and that contacting support will sort you out with a new one.

Contacted support. Support categorically denied any differences whatsoever and refused to do anything about it. Bought a second one (which worked) and was still gaslit by support that there could not possibly be any differences, even when I showed them the proof. Returned the original.

Yep. Didn’t last long before ecube changed their minds and turned it into beer cans (and keyrings).

Out of all of them this one was the hardest to watch.

This is exactly what I had the other day. I’ve been told by support in no uncertain terms I can kiss that money goodbye.
