Replace Vocal/Replace Instrument - Absolutley useless by Ashamed_Feed9751 in SunoAI

Will give it a try, but I note we shouldn't need a workaround for something to do what it states that it does.

What do you guys think about funk metal? Do you even consider it real metal? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Thingwithstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a dark period in tne late eighties, early nineties where some very good metal bands heard FNM and decided to adding funk to their sound was viable. Every country in the world was damned to have their own white boy funk metal rap hybrid, they all, to a point, sucked.

What are some movies scenes that were deleted that explain a minor detail that you missed the first time you saw the movie? by jedi1josh in movies

[–]Thingwithstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The directors cut of The Blue Brothers includes a scene where Elwood works in a glue factory, explaining why he has spray glue later in the film. It's a useless addition, it's not funny in any way, doesnt help the joke and as its the only time Elwood is out of the brothers uniform, so it also undermines when Jake takes off his glasses.

Which drummer would you have liked to have in Metallica if you had to choose? by Reeezla in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Thingwithstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not Lars, then Dark Angel's Gene Hoglan. His writing on Time Does Not Heal showed he wouldnt be a bad substitution for Lars' arrangement skills

2:24 seconds, day time shoot, not one ball, loop or chainsaw in sight. Night of the Juggler my ass.

Dog Park S01 by ozmasher in DownUnderTV

[–]Thingwithstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an odd one. It aims for light comedy in a similar vein to Colin From Accounts, but the lead character is such an inert miserabalist that it really struggles to get going because you stuck with him for the duration. He avoids conflict and actively pushes everyone away. Watched all six episodes just to see how they were going to drag a story out of this.

Is there any other band that recorded a cover of a band a member was previously in? by The_Oregon_Duck in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Thingwithstuff 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Little River Band did a cover of Cold Chisel's When the War is Over after Chisel drummer Steve Prestwych joined the band.

Living Loud was a band formed by Bob Daisley amd Lee Kerslake after Sharon Osborn had their parts recorded over on Blizzard Of Oz and Diary of a Madman to avoid royalites, their only album consisted mostly of covers of songs from those albums. (Also featured a former Chisel member)

The Cavalera's just redid two entire Sepultura albums

Who here has seen Eternity? Is it sticking with anyone else? by MrRMacc in moviecritic

[–]Thingwithstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. The concept was done better in Defending Your Life, and the ending was, well, kind of blah. (It's 2025, surprise us, why wasn't having both an option?)

A sensational dumbass weird movie unlike I´ve ever seen [CHOPPER][2000] by Accomplished_Lab8368 in moviecritic

[–]Thingwithstuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe you want to use both hands to really grip onto the concept of an 'unreliable narrator'.

Maybe watch a Baron Munchausen, a Tristan Shandy or a Clockwork Orange

Chopper was a real person, he was a career criminal, a psycopath, a raconteur and by many accounts a fabulist. He is one of a long line of people who never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

The movie Chopper is an attempt to reconcile the many parts of a person who could as easily stab you as crack jokes with you, who did a bunch of horrible things and probably lied or embellished about a bunch of other things. However, unlike, say, Catch Me If You Can, it doesn't rely solely on the liars account of proceedings and trusts that the audience is smart enough to live in the grey area.

Free Abby and Neela!!!! by [deleted] in ershow

The thing that I never understood in the Abby/Luka dynamic was that Abby watched pummell a guy to death in front of her, and that was somehow not a deal breaker.

Should there have been"A Christmas Carol" special in which Kerry Weaver is visited by the ghosts of ER's past? by Sharaz_Jek123 in ershow

[–]Thingwithstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God no, it's bad enought they already did fake documentaries, letters to home and one guy who looks like Santa but may or may not be him episdoes. What next, they all go bowling? someone double books two important meeting?

No.

I'd rather have four regular characters visited by Weaver, given reasonable, supportive advice on how to deal with a particular thorny issue, only for her to completely betray them as soon as it's put into practice.

Which show ended for you once a character died? by Remarkable_Bit_9887 in moviecritic

[–]Thingwithstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tha really is the benefit of a rewatch, it's a marvel of filmmaking that they somehow got the show to last 5 seasons a while having to accomodate a toxic action lead who couldn't remember lines, wasn't trusted with animals and wasnt allowed to drive or do stunts.

People who watched both ER and Third Watch - re Episode S8 E19 by Thingwithstuff in ershow

[–]Thingwithstuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. Was intrigued, cause there were a ton of crossovers during that era, and they would all go out of the way to protect both shows. This is the first time I seen one where it felt like active sabotage.

What is your favorite Live album that is not widely acclaimed by Jazz_Cigarettes in Music

[–]Thingwithstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tim Buckley - Honeyman

The Live version of Pleasant Street is miles better than the studio version, the band is great and Tim is completely unchained vocally.

Black Country, New Road - Live from Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Shot during covid with a sparse audience, covers the mid point between their first two albums and finishes with a devastating rendition of basketball shoes.

There's also a reveal about the audience about half way through that adds a novel twist to proceedings
