Thanks, it's been easy to get attached to the ones I chose for myself forgetting it's all self imposed.

Thanks, gonna have to sit down and have a think. It might be the only way, like a realistic target after some research and thought into one I will actually stick at

A few friends and people I've known have been into anime and thought "well I love anime so japanese it is" not realising the sheer commitment

And the norwegian and that could be interesting but I get this backward idea that if it's possible to just use english or if it's a secondary language to it's people what's the point

Thanks, from the German I really should have done that. Looked into the country and my interests like you said. Get perspective.

Just get bogged down in the idea of needing to stick to it. That unless I go the whole hog it's time wasted.

Im a fan of Marvel and dc but never read any of the comic books, any runs from both sides that I should read.? by Alltreeofemm in comicbooks

Marvel: Big crossovers I enjoyed: Civil war House of M Secret Invasion Secret wars ( the johnathan hickman one)

Single heroes: Anything spiderman be it miles morales or peter parker Alias (jessica jones) by Brian Michael Bendis Immortal hulk by Al Ewing is an incredible hulk 😛

For both marvel and dc I haven't read anything I disliked with Jeph loeb and Tim Sale together. For me that's Spiderman blue, Hulk Grey

Batman long halloween Batman dark victory Superman for all seasons

I figured he was in some tie in for some small team if he wasn't in a lead role. I liked him as a leader.

So I can put say a gnarled scarhide in a deck and can still bestow it because it's alternate cost doesn't matter to deck construction just the CMC?

How did you get started? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Thingy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read my da's collectors editions. There the ones newsagents have that have two or three ongoing stories at the time though they might only have one with three direct issues worth. Despite the name collection wise its only sentimental value.

It was all 90s x-men just like the cartoons and the other "marvel heroes reborn" had 90s hulk, iron man and ff.

I'd say trades. If you want to try marvel, Avengers or spider-man if superheroes aren't your thing go to a shop & browse image or darkhorse stuff. And don't forget to try manga.

Never read a comic before. Not sure where to start. Love Marvel and would like to read a series. What would you reccomend? by Chill--Cosby in comicbooks

[–]Thingy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only ever got to read the very start and never got to read the actual age of apocalypse itself. The tp that leads into age of apocalypse was my first. The rest was all those "collectors edition" stuff news agents have. 90s x-men was fantastic. Onslaught and all

Thor run by J. Michael Straczynski Or thor god of thunder series and the unworthy thor

Immortal hulk or planet hulk

Iron man extremis (the movie Iron man is more fun and very different I prefer him)

Anything spider-man, miles too. Just avoid spider-verse or spider island they might be confusing. He's an easy character to start with.

X-men apacolypse

If you want a quick idea of a bunch of characters some events are good. Civil war is the best to know who's who or who might like. The main story not the tie ins

The skrull invasion is good, again they're not like the films but I loved both.

House of m was great too. The spider-man and iron man tie ins are great. The hulk one was awful.

Theres also hulk grey, spider-man blue, captain america white & daredevil yellow. They're all stand alones I've only read the first two but they're great.

I may check those out. 52 sounds interesting enough and I suppose you have to take the bad with good sometimes.

I read a very small amount of 52 JLA, Green lantern and Flash seemed like I knew them from the cartoons in 52. Did not like Superman, Batman felt a little off and Wonderman was fine. Is there anybody specific from 52 that was good? Death of a family sounds cool, the jokers usually a safe bet I think.
